    Relaxing, Oasis

    Our 5 day stay in building 4, overlooking the beautiful breaking waters of the ocean, well planned gardens, pools and very accessible walking paths were an amazing opportunity to recharge. Upon arrival, we were greeted by cheerful staff, and rum punch. Our one bedroom suite was clean, bright well equipped with basic essentials to begin our stay. The many shops, and variety of restaurants provided a nice variety of food choices. The Gospel breakfast was enjoyable, while talented singers serenaded us for our Sunday morning breakfast. The music in the various bars and restaurants, however were reminiscent of an all inclusive resort, rather than a 5 star classy, high end resort we were in. On Monday a special invitation to a meet and greet other guests was fun and offered a variety of beverages, and traditional bites to eat, was highlighted by the presence of Crane owner Paul Doyle. The beach Grove has a fabulous Mai, Mai fish. The only down side are that the trade winds of Barbados has brought in Sargassum seaweed onto the beach. Nonetheless, the resort offers many other water opportunities. It was an excellent stay.

    The Crane is the perfect place to get away from it all. This was our second visit after spending two weeks here in 2015. From start to finish everything was superb. We are saving for the next trip already.

    Worst Customer Service EVER

    My partner and I stayed at The Crane Resort for 3 nights in early December. We booked an "Ocean View suite with private plunge pool". We arrived late at night and when we were escorted to our room we asked the Bell man if this was indeed an ocean view room. He replied yes. In the morning, in the day light, it was evident we did not have an ocean view. We were on the second floor and the ocean was obstructed by the trees and garden. If you stood on the very far left of the patio and stood on your toes you could see a peak of the ocean. On our way to the beach we stopped in at the front desk to ask to speak to a manager. We were told the manager was busy and would contact us later. We spent the day at the beach, went for dinner and when we arrived back at our room at 9:30pm there was no message from the manager. It was late and we were exhausted so we just decided to forget about it- we were only staying 3 nights and at that point we didn't want to bother switching rooms. At check out we asked to speak to a Manager. Janine greeted us about 15 mins later (after we told them we were in a hurry and had a car waiting....they did not care about our time.) We told her everything I just explained in this review. She told us that our room was most definiltey an ocean view room and than no one had ever complained about it before. This was shocking!!! We asked her to come to the room with us to look at the "view" together- and she refused saying "i am very familiar with that room". There was also no apology about not having a manager speak to us after our initial complaint. She said she would talk to her supervisor about our complaint and get back to us. Since we paid in full with expedia before hand she said that we would have to go through them to get a refund for the price difference. We suggested that maybe taking care of one of our meals on our bill would be simple enough but she refused. A week later she emailed us with an attached letter for us to give to expedia to get a refund for the difference between an ocean view and a garden view! This was great news - or so we thought. I contacted Expedia on Jan. 2- spent 30 mins on the phone with them and sent them the letter from the Crane. They said they would contact the hotel and get back to us in a few days. 2 weeks later and I still had not heard back. So I called back and they said that they had contacted the Crane resort several times over the 2 weeks and they were not returning any calls or emails. Expedia put me on hold while they tried the hotel again. They were told the same thing- "the manager is not here- She will call you back..." Today is Jan 26- and i contacted Expedia again and they said they have still not heard back from the Crane. 3.5 weeks and they still can not email or call back to confirm the refund for THEIR MISTAKE. It has been such a hassle and I simply cannot believe how horrible the customer service is from the Crane. While the resort itself was nice- I will NEVER stay there again.

    A different experience for us

    We were staying in Dover Beach but were recommended to book the self-service Sunday breakfast buffet here when they have a gospel choir singing at 9.00 and 10.00am - so we did and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, the area of the resort we saw was a bit like a Disney theme park and on two separate days, the wind was howling, the sea rough and the beach covered in seaweed due to stormy weather. It looks completely different in other people's photos on here! We couldn't have afforded to stay here but I did buy a lovely top in the smart boutique run by a British couple!

    Most relaxing spot on earth

    Just returned from another amazing vacation at the crane. I am fascinated by the negative reviews I read about this place. I read a few that were written while I was at the resort. I read one that said the pools were cold and no one was swimming. I found it amusing since I was swimming in the pools that day and they were awesome. Some people don't understand that the resort is not crowded since most folks have pools and other amenities attached to their rooms and they are out of site. I love this feeling that I have the resort to myself. It is serene and relaxing all day every day. Negative people can find anything to complain about. The is like a beautiful village that has everything you would want including fabulous restaurants, bars, a grocery store, and a gift shop and jewelry store. The staff are amazing and super friendly. The resort is one of the most beautiful places we have every been and we have been all over the Caribbean..
