Occidental Tucancun

We just returned from 16 sunny days at the Occidental Tucancun. Overall our visit was extremely relaxing and enjoyable. The customer service aspect was definitely 5 stars!! So many lovely people worked hard to make our visit wonderful. We want to give a special shout out to some great people! We love, love, love Rosie Aguilar, Ana Madigal and Dalidia Perez they have become like family!! They were always going a step above!! Abdulah and Frida always had a warm-welcoming smile to greet us at the restaurants. William, one of the managers was very gracious and always attentive to our needs. Vanessa and Stephanie made “pool time” fun! I also want to thank the lifeguard, Abraham for addressing my injuries after I missed a step heading to the pool. Thank you to all the staff. You ALL do a fantastic job!!! With the COVID-19 pandemic, the staff was very good with cleaning, disinfecting and checking temperatures. We felt safe. I recommend that you have your COVID-19 test done off the property. It is so expensive on-site. The food at the restaurants was a hit or miss. The menu can get a bit boring. We found room service to be pretty good and quick. The staff did prepare some of our food requests and we really appreciated the effort! There are 3 pools all on the small side but, never had a problem finding a lounge chair. The hotel was never more than 30% full so at a higher capacity it may be a problem. The beach and views are breathtaking!! The location is very convenient and walkable to shopping, food and entertainment. Also, the city bus runs basically all the time and is a great inexpensive way to get around town. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The furniture and window coverings are in desperate need of updating. All in all we had a great visit and look forward to returning soon!

vacation was very fun a lot of activity we got to do thanks to vannesa,stephanie. we got to play volleyball they interacted with all of us and even remembered all our names, they were very nice and fun. the desert was very good!!

We tried this resort in October, 2020 and it was awesome, so we returned for a quick trip in February and were overall disappointed compared to our first visit. The food and drink quality went down. Staff members were attentive and responsive to our needs and questions. The resort is safe and clean. Night entertainment was minimal and not of good quality. I will be trying a different resort next time as I did not find it to be worth the money on my 2nd trip. Also, you will get repeatedly asked and pressured to go to their timeshare presentations and it gets annoying.

Nice hotel on beach, Overall service was good! Bar service excellent but they struggle with the food service part, because of Covid Restrictions I think they were a little short staffed but they tried their best. Daytime entertainment staff was super fun! limited on night time entertainment and after midnight you have to go out by pool area or to your rooms. We did have 2 awesome karaoke nights in the lobby bar that were very entertaining. We would definitely return here again!

Firstly, we want to say the staff and hospitality was excellent. Special commendations to Wil Avilez, Marina, Rosa, the singing waiter (sorry I forgot your name sir) and the entire staff at Occidental Tucancun. They all were very nice and hospitable in every way. Applause to them. During this pandemic they took many precautions regarding safety except at night around the bar area as expected. Otherwise we felt safe and comfortable. The rooms were good but could use some furniture upgrades. The beach area had no umbrellas or beach chairs set out to relax. The downside was the food. The Italian restaurant was too salty, the buffet had selections as if they just threw items together and called it whatever. Steaks were tough, burgers were bland, pizza was terrible, and all the other nameless entrees were horrible. The Mexican restaurant was closed the entire week. In all my world travels and many times to Cancun, this hotel had absolutely the worst food quality, selections, and tastes. Quite a few times we went elsewhere to eat.
