    Return Trip in Off Season

    I have made many trips to The Colonial. There were not many guests the week we visited. Our room had been upgraded with new mattresses, lamp shades. A/C and Hot Water worked fine. We did have some issues getting into the a la carte but didn't spoil our vacation. The beach was amazing. Weather was great. Staff are excellent at this hotel - the real reason why we return. They cannot do enough for you. Food was good but the main problem was what the staff had to work with. Take your own condiments if they are important to you. I have never travelled to Cuba in November and maybe some of this was due to being off-season. There was entertainment in the Piano Bar - but we never knew when (time) it would be. The Colonial provided a great vacation and is a special place with to visit with it's old colonial style. Plus - if you want a great Dentist - Daisy's office is at this resort. She is a great Dentist and it is very reasonable. We will be returning to The Colonial in January.

    Colonial is making a come back I think

    We have been going to the Colonial for 9 years about 18 times but the last year we have tried a couple of new places on Cayo Coco. the reason we went else where was because the place fell into hard times from Iberostar. this past week we returned to Cayo Coco and stay somewhere else and it was a nice place. But my review is about the 3 day I spent at the Colonial Well friends we had a nice room lots of air and hot water and Alex is the most amazing guy, all he wants is the bring back the Canadian customers, Alex is more hands on and available with a load of people skills. The food I have to say was 10 times better then a year ago at the return guests dinner as well as the buffet, honest guys I could believe it. If you go hungry it’s your problem not the hotel. Colonial has gotten a bad rap and rightfully so, but I was welcomed with open arms for 3 days including the 26th anniversary. And I have to say it was so much better than the 25th. I do talk to customers a lot as you all know me but not one person I talk to said they wouldn’t come back, they all said it is an the best time and just not return guests but first time guests. They said the staff was the best, but I can’t say enough about Alex, this guy is everywhere doing what he can for you, he even sang with us, If you do go just tell him Nick says Hi. The grounds are well cared for, the rooms were very clean, the food I have to say was better than where I was staying honest not a lie and this also comes from the six people we brought to share the day. Just a little personal note 8 of us were invited to the Colonial from another hotel to send the whole day for all the drinks dancing and food, this is how bad they want us back to the hotel and for our part we are returning I think the Oberstar star really screwed up the hotel and they are gone thank god. I think the Colonial got caught between a rock and a hard place and they are asking for just one try to bring you back . I would like to see some of us return, I know some of us will not, but that’s ok we understand, but I’m willing to return. I hope this helps you with a true look. One last thing Thanks to Alex, Eglys, Williams, Aldo and Nathalie, Frank and Nathalie, Melvin, Augusto, Joel and everyone I forgot. see you soon WILL BE COME BACK VERY SOON

    Gorgeous Cuban charm with beautiful beach.

    I have been to Colonial Hotel 3 times. The hotel has beautiful charm and the beach is gorgeous. The staff always makes us feel welcome. A SPECIAL shout out to Johnny and Joel from the animation team. They are always welcoming and have a smile on their face. Also to the two gentlemen taking care of the salt water pools they are very dedicated to making sure the pools are perfect. Only negative with our trip is the AIRCONDITIONER IN THE DISCO. We love music but were unable to stay in the disco it was just too hot. If this would get fixed it would add such a more enjoyable time for the guests. Tina and Irene

    Just returned from 2 weeks at this character filled hotel.This was our 3rd trip here and there were changes We had some issues with hot water, line ups at the food stations, lack of ingredients for drinks. Some of the walkways need repairs and the furniture is getting a bit tired. But the staff are amazing and trying hard to please. The food was fresh and tasty and you won't go hungry. Ask Humberto at the lobby bar for a Spanish coffee, he makes the best. The beach is beautiful and you can walk forever. If you want a charming hotel with friendly people give it a try.

    Located close to the air port and checkin was very easy. The weather during our 2 week stay was great, only rained 1 day. The staff was friendly and catered to everything we needed. Great views everywhere, and landscape is fully restored after hurricane "Irma" came through 2 years ago.
