The Royal Hawaiian is more than a hotel. It’s like stepping back in time to when vacationing was an event instead of just a week away from work. The place is stunning and the views are spectacular. You won’t get a better pic of Diamond Head and you won’t be closer to the ocean. The staff is incredible. They are so friendly and make you feel like a welcomed guest. The hotel and the grounds are well maintained. The rooms are beautiful and the beds and pillows are comfy. I love the Malie body creams, body wash, and shampoos and conditioners. The Mai Tai bar is a great place to have a drink or eat a bite. I suggest the royal mai tais. They are fantastic. If you like shopping, there are plenty of stores to keep you occupied. It’s amazing to me that so much is going on all around the Royal Hawaiian, but when you step back onto the grounds, it’s like the rest of the world goes away. It is so quiet. My husband and I have been here many times. It is the only place we will stay when we are on Oahu. If you want your Hawaiian vacation on Oahu to be perfect, stay at the pink palace.

Incredibly overpriced & unfriendly arrogant staff

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and couldn't wait to leave to go to the North Shore to stay at a proper 'luxury hotel'. There was nothing luxury about this hotel: -Long lines for check in and out. We waited at least 20 min with only one or two staff working at reception. We watched managers walk past, but clearly couldn't care less. No where to sit and wait, the few couches are always taken. -Inflexible, condescending and unfriendly attitude of reception staff, junior manager, and surf board hire staff. -Multiple issues were addressed with the junior manager, including the safe not working, lack of towels and water in gym, and other problems, but nothing was resolved or followed up. He took notes and asked our details, but we never heard back. Unbelievable. -Very expensive for a tiny dark room with a miniature bathroom, room looking out over a roof. Ridiculous resort fee that really includes nothing but hotel wifi. You have to still pay for everything else. -I recommend visiting the historic building and then staying at a nice hotel where staff treat you better than just a number.

This hotel is iconic and now I know why. Absolutely beautiful. Upon check in we were upgraded to a ocean view with balcony - STUNNING view! Very comfortable bed and the room was nice and cool. The AC was able to keep up. We loved the location of this hotel as you are centrally located both on the beach and on the strip out front. Plenty of restaurants and shopping in either direction. The Mai Tai bar is great and the daily happy hour appetizers for guests was a nice touch too. Will definitely be back!!!

Incredibly friendly and giving staff. Prompt and thoughtful service from luggage and valet service, check-in, room service, activities services, and check-out. We even found a complimentary bottle of champagne waiting for us in our room for our honeymoon stay. Knowing the history of the hotel made it extra special, and the ocean view from our room was iconic. A memorable stay to say the least.

I have been staying at the Royal Hawaiian for about 20 years and cannot say enough about the excellent experience we have at this iconic hotel which occupies the perfect location with views of the bay and Diamond Head. The experience starts with a warm check in and reception by the hotel staff. Our check in was personal and the staff made sure that the rooms provided were perfect for my family. We were offered several options and the staff was very accommodating to our needs. The first night, the staff relations manager found us at the hotel lounge and made sure we were happy with our rooms. Mia, also followed up after check out thanking us for our stay and asking us to notify her when we plan our next trip out. Amazingly, given the size of the hotel, the staff called us by our names with in a day of check in and several commented on how much my daughter, who is 2, had grown since our last trip. I prefer the rooms in the historic section as they have high ceilings, are well appointed, and very comfortable. The cleaning staff always checked for any additional needs and helped with extras for our daughter. We love that this hotel is a bit quieter and the small salt water pool was a perfect place to relax and enjoy the sun. Meghan, made sure we had plenty of towels and were well attended to. They Royal also has a private area on the beach with beach chairs to enjoy the sea without fighting for space. Don't miss Azure, the hotel's trendy dinner spot.
