Perfect getaway

Eastcoast2424 (Halifax, Canada) on Apr 16, 2024

We travelled in February for a couples getaway ( birthday celebration) and really enjoyed this resort. Being close to the airport was a real plus, the beach was beautiful and being able to snorkel right off the beach was an added perk. My boyfriend loved the food truck option on the beach for lunch as well as the jerk chicken bbq everyday.. and on most days he took advantage of both. lol. We loved the 24 hour coffee shop and suggest you try the pizza ! Staff were really attentive and the entertainment crew were so friendly ( even when we declined most offers as we are the lazy vacation people ?? ). Made pretty good friends with my favourite pool cat and highly suggest bringing some cats treats.. ?? Would definitely return as it exceeded our expectations … until next time

DO NOT RECOMMEND

Alissa K on Apr 15, 2024

My husband and I just came back from our honeymoon. We stayed at the Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites for 6 days, 7 nights. I would like to preface this by saying that when we booked this vacation, I was not pregnant, nor was the plan to be pregnant at the time of our trip. But things changed. That being said, I was treated like a faberge egg by the staff. Because I was 13 weeks pregnant (right under the 2nd trimester mark), the spa was not willing to massage me. We didn't know this until our appointment. We were about to lye down on the tables at the beach when they had us fill out some forms on their tablet. One of the questions asked about pregnancy, so we were honest about it. We weren't trying to hide anything. That's when they said that they couldn't move forward with my massage. My OB says that massages are fine, but I guess Iberostar doesn't want to get sued or something. They also refused to let me go on any of their excursions. This rule is for anyone that's pregnant - not just those in their 1st trimester. I wasn't trying to go ziplining or ATVing, you guys. We just wanted to go on the catamaran or go snorkeling. If the hotel is concerned with pregnancy liability, they should have the individual sign a waver. I don't believe it lists these pregnancy policies anywhere on their website. But if I'm wrong, please let me know. This left me with the following options: eat and enjoy the pool/beach. The pool was taken up by people playing catch. Not off to the side, but directly in the middle of the pool. Besides that, the pools were nice. The lazy river, however, was garbage. It was so lazy, half of the river didn't move. This forced us to pull ourselves through big sections of the lazy river. The ocean wasn't really enjoyable either. You'd walk in ~5 feet and there was sea grass as far as the eye could see. I know the hotel isn't responsible for the ocean, but it's worth mentioning. We were also told that someone would walk around to get our drink orders, but no one ever did. Not once. We were also harrassed CONSTANTLY by locals trying to sell us goods, including weed and cocaine (aka. "white lobster"). Now onto the food...it was mostly "just ok". I'm a carbs girlie and was all about the pasta at the Italian restaurant. Everywhere else, except the Hibachi restaurant, was bland bland bland. Even the fruit was bland (and mushy). The best food we had was by someone on the beach grilling jerk chicken and beef. We also tried the room service on our last night. Awful selection, but the flavors/textures were even worse. I ordered a pizza and the dough was about 1.5 inches thick. Why? The entertainment...my G-d. What is happening there? They have shows that you have to pay to see, which is INSANE. I'm not paying to learn how to sensually feed my husband chocolate. These shows would often take the place of free shows, or they would be in rooms like the music lounge, which is where we would go to play some pool. The free entertainment was ok, but no one would attend because there was no clear communication as to where these events were taking place. There should be weekly calendars posted everywhere. But they have you rely on their app, which would hardly ever work. The reason I'm giving it a 3 out of 5 are for the following reasons: 1) Beautiful grounds/facilities 2) Clean rooms 3) Plenty of food/drinks available w/ little to no wait time at restaurants (even if the food wasn't good) 4) Friendly staff I could go on and on and on about how mediocre this resort was. I was very surprised because I enjoyed the Iberostar in Riviera Maya, Mexico, and this resort had amazing reviews. But I will not be coming back and I will not recommend it to anyone.

Star Camp is Amazing!

A P on Apr 14, 2024

Star Camp was amazing! Loved Tareka, Kimberly and Casayna! They made the experience for our son so memorable that he didn't want to leave! They have all camp or pop in for activities like kids escape room, sand castle building, or play in the kids pool with a pirate ship and slides.
