Average resort hotel. Dated.

Came here as part of a large work conference. It fair to say this would not be my choice of hotel at all. I'd far rather be in Downtown, but when your conference is for 2000 people thats not really an option. Im sure it would be great if you had kids, but aside from that its rather dated, and like a rather rubbish Vegas or Florida resort hotel without the gambling! The most dissapointing thing was the under-staffed bars, which despite repeatedly mentioning to management never had enough staff on, and hundreds of peole were left waiting to be served for long periods of time. Some of the bar staff (notably in the falls bar) were surley and rude; but still want a large tip despite you walking up to the bar and being left to stand there for 15 minutes waiting to be served. It is a good 30 minute / $40+ cab into town.
Overwhelmingly huge

This is my second stay at the Gaylord Opryland. It is a beautiful resort with numerous atriums. Truly amazing, but huge and when fully booked, it can be overwhelming. It felt like we were at Disney. That being said, at night and early morning, it is beautiful and peaceful. They have a lot of dinning options, with fast food type of restaurants with combos starting at $15 to fine dining. My favorite hanging spot is the Jack Daniel’s restaurant when they have live bands. The rooms are nicely decorated, clean and very comfortable. My biggest issue is the customer service. Not much of a welcome at check in or information other than a map directing you to your room. To be fair, the resort was at capacity during my last visit, so I am sure we’re overloaded. I believe it was a lot more welcoming during my first stay here when it was off season. But at their rates, I feel customer service should be top notch at all times. Overall, it is a great place to walk around, and enjoy the scenery. Will try again next time I come to Nashville
What a ripoff

Over $400 per night for a very basic room. $37/day parking. Food is outrageously priced. And sucks. Solaria Cantina charged us $9 tax on a $49 check. I checked all the Tennessee tax rates and found they had seriously overcharged. The manager tried to explain it away, basically calling me a dummy. She claimed the alcohol tax was 15% (no other restaurant charged that during our entire stay), but even if that was the case, the tax total was still way off. I showed her receipts from other restaurants in the area and the tax was 9.25%, including alcohol. She just didn't care that they were wrong. Oh, did I mention the food sucked? Avoid Solaria at all costs! Also, we spent most of our time lost. Impossible to get around without using their app which didn't work all that great. Bottom line: we spent 3 days being frustrated and ticked off. Not to mention we're out about $1500. Stay at your own peril.
Just disappointed

We arrived two hours before our show at the Grand Ole Opry, thought it would be a chance to visit the Opryland Resort. The resort looks amazing, from what we saw. We decided on dinner at Ravello, a mistake on our part. Once the wait staff knew we were only there to have quick bite to eat and not spending a lot money, the demeaner of staff changed. We actually could not get out of there fast enough. In fairness to the staff I am wondering if management is behind this type of communication. Customer service should be the same for all clients.
Unauthorized charges

Unauthorized parking charges. When called hotel got punted to Marriott. Called Marriott spoke with Carmen about the charges, she states will investigate. Haven’t heard back. Hotel was packed too many people for some convention, couldn’t enjoy the property.
