Our first time to Jamaica and first time to a Moon resort and it was very good, we made the decision to come here after we got word of mouth from a family friend, and i gotta say, no regrets here, everything and everyone was just wonderful and very pleasing, staff went above and beyond with smiles, George at front desk is a perfect example, very attentive and was super helpful at check in. The spa was just Awemazing! I have to say... beautiful, relaxing area, just one to experience. The fitness centre is top of the line and very good gym equipment. The restaurants are very enjoyable and has a lot to offer.

Romell, Khaleel, Johnny, Shawnette, Yahshawn, Timaly. These are the nicest people. They showed me around and they were really kind when I was lost. Great people would recommend the hotel. This has been my favorite trip yet.

The entertainment staff definitely made the trip! Romell, Johnoy, Kahleel, Yahshawn, Shawnette, and Timaly were especially great. They always had smiles on their faces and we never had a boring moment when they were around. They went way beyond what was needed to help us out. I definitely recommend coming to this resort!!

Moon Palace Jamaica Let me start of with: expect delays to everything - people are very laid back- you may have to request more than 3 times to get something done (restaurants and excursions excluded). You would expect more from 5 star resort. Be prepared for 2 hrs drive from Montego Bay airport to the resort - one lane, very crowded at rush hour, people crossing the street without looking. The driver did an amazing job getting us to the resort safely. Carry a water bottle with you or buy outside as you walk out towards the buses from one of the vendor stands for $4. The bottle looks "Fiji" bottle but it wasn't- it was cold spring water. There is no bathroom on the bus. The whole process from when the flight lands till the time you get to the resort takes around 3.5-4hrs. Highly recommend to carry snacks for the ride. As the bus dropped us off at the resort, the staff greeted us with cold towels (instead of warm) which was nice for hot weather and carnation flower for the ladies. The luggage was delivered to our room after 1.5hrs - it seemed they forgot us - we had to call them. We were told that it should take 20mins. Highly recommend to ask for room upgrade, higher floor, away from elevators (some sort of noise right outside the elevator on the 15th floor), facing ocean, less downtown view. The check in process takes 10mins depending on the line. They give you wrist band that you wear until you check-out. Then you are asked to go meet concierge who wants you to schedule update meeting which is not mandatory but if you need to have it then it might be a good idea not to have it over breakfast or lunch. The conversation could ruin the meal. They offer you $200 room credit, some people got $400. I am not sure what criteria they follow for this. Initially, they are extremely friendly but when you refuse the behavior changes. You need to book your return bus ride ticket to the airport with the vacation planners atleast 2 days before you leave. They need your flight number and departure time and assign you bus timing which is 5hrs before the flight time. The resort property looks 5 star but the rooms look like 3 star (Holiday Inn). The room is small. There isn't space to keep 2 check in bags open, however there are 6 deep drawers which was nice. The room has Appleton rum, sodas, juices, bottled water, bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon with bottle opener and 2 wine glasses. There is coffee maker but I would rather go to cafe downstairs. The room comes with CHI body lotion, bar soap, CHI shampoo and infrared hair treatment. They do not provide conditioner separate. There is hair dryer and hair straightener in the bathroom drawers. They do not have makeup remover wipes. Bring anti-freeze spray or argan oil for hair as it is very humid. The room is good enough for 2 people only with bit of congestion. Also this room does not have jacuzzi like the ones in Cancun Palace resorts. They do have a safe where you set the lock code. Pack 1 swim outfit for each day - it costs $170 for a ladies swimsuit at their gift shop. There are water activities on the right side of the resort which are included in your stay. There are towel booths and bars near the pools. They have standup paddle boats, kayaks, small sail boats. If you are planning to do Dunn River falls, you need water shoes. They sell them for $20 at the gift shop of the hotel. Bring 1 evening wear for dinner time at the 2 fine dining restaurants (Momo and Gondola). 1 set of beach flip flops. Hotel decor is beautiful!! As you walk in the front door, you can see they have put a lot of effort making sure the resort displays 5 star. It would be a good idea to check out the entire resort - shouldn't take more than 20mins to half hr to know the know the location of each restaurants, spa, pools, saunas, bars, lounge, vacation planners. There are 3 different ways to get to the buffett. Restaurants: Buccaneers Reef : buffett : 2 of 5 stars. We went several times hoping for hot delicious meal but none of that ever happened. Waitresses showed attitude when asked for things like coffee. Waiters always came by to make sure we have everything we need. Pier 8: 4 of 5 stars. Good food. Looks like waitresses from the buffett work here as well. Sundeck pizza bar: 1 of 5 stars. Pizza not recommended here. Boulangerie cafe: 4 of 5 stars. You get any type coffee here, croissants, crepes made to order. Pretty cool. Sushi: so nice to have a variety of food places. Located next to elevators. Pizza and Paninis: located next to Sushi place. pizza was okay 2 of 3 stars. Besides water, they dont have as any other drinks, no soda machines either. It took sometime for them to get sodas from the restaurant below. Momo: 5 of 5 stars - servers were great! It is fine dining Asian food. Gondola: 5 of 5 - great servers. Italian fine dining restaurant. Get in early for good view. Sundeck restaurant: good place to have dinner (5 of 5 stars). The food is okay (3 of 5 stars). What we noticed is that they dont have Mexican restaurant which is strange since the resort is owned by Palace resorts in Cancun, Mexico. Bring cash for tips - 2nd time service starts to go below the initial service. Unhappy about after paying $500/night we are still expected to keep paying in an all-inclusive 5 star resort. Photo shoot- you use 250 resort credits and dont pay the service fee. But here is the catch: you dont get any photos unless you do the minimum purchase of $250 US which includes 10 photos for $24/each. That also, the photos are on USB drive. They give you link to their site where you can login and order more photos if you want. They give signed release form if you want to print them outside. We tipped everywhere we went including bus drivers, spa, activities tour guides, servers at the restaurants, bar, cafe. Any tip goes a long way so plan accordingly during packing. Some tour guides deserve a good amount of tip especially if you are doing any water activities- they are always making sure you are safe. Activities- there are plenty to do near the resort (within 15mins drive) and all of them do not include food or drinks so it is good to have a meal at the resort before the activity. This way you get to eat at the all-inclusive resort you paid for, utilize the amenities they provide and still get to enjoy near-by activities. Bring cash for lockers. Verify with the staff when you get your key, what is needed so you get your deposit back. For example, at Dunn River falls, you need to you have the smaller receipt where it says $3 along with the locker key to get your $3 back. No receipt no cash back. It's pretty ridiculous because you are returning the key and showing your main receipt. For $60/per person, you get 10mins bus ride each way, 2hrs at the falls. Or you can hire a private taxi, stay as long as you like and pay $25 entry fee for Dunn's. If you dont have water shoes, they sell them for $10 there. You can buy them at Mystic mountain gift shop for $8. They take credit cards there. Dunn's River falls and Konoko falls is same concept where you climb up the falls. The biggest difference is the height. Konoko falls is half the height and easier to climb, plus there is more to see and you can hold parrot on your arm which is pretty cool. Highly recommend Konoko over Dunn's unless you want the "thrill" climb. Snorkling - must do! Highly recommended. The guides are always there to support the people who can and cannot swim. The tour included drinks and refreshments but none were provided. The reef is beautiful with lots of variety of tiny fishes. The crew onboard are friendly. We tipped well. We just wished the boat was not so crowded and it was bit congested to sit with the snorkel gear they provide you. There was no place to move. Mystic mountain skyexplorer- can be skipped. There isn't too much to do after you do the skyexplorer which is the first thing. There is a gift shop, restaurant, pool looking over the ocean, resort and city. Going around Ochos Rios town- can be skipped unless you want to buy souvenir with a bargain. Massage- the actual massage is much shorter than what they sell for even though the masseuse says that it will be the full time in the beginning when asked. They did a good job but when you pay for a certain amount and you feel why would they cut short by another 10mins of massage in a 5 star resort. The process to get to the massage is very nice - Hydrotherapy. You go through sauna, cold room, muscle relaxing seat, steam room, shower, hot tub, quick 5 secs dive in a polar pool and then in relaxing pool with different massaging shower heads. Great experience. Spa is beautiful- you know you are at 5 star resort. You have people guiding you from each section. There are locker rooms - ladies and men on either side. The staff at all activities spoke English well. They were very nice and gave good guidance. Some of the hotel staff were helpful. We wish the resort would have been at same standards as Cancun Palace Resorts. The "beach" is so small that you can look over to the other side and see the end of it. It is strange because it is higher priced than Cancun Moon Palace resort.
