We visited Sunscape Puerto Vallarta in December for Christmas and we made it a point to come back for our spring break vacation. Needless to say, they exceeded our expectations once again. They are still following COVID protocols once you arrive. Before the security lets you in the gate, they check everyone’s temperature. When you get off the taxi, they give you hand sanitizer and greet you with agua fresca (we got refreshing agua de Jamaica). They offer COVID testing (make sure you make an appointment for that before your departure) and explain it at the reception when you are checking in. Everyone made our stay extra special. At the Explorers Club, Jasmin and Dayana were amazing and were happy to see our boys back. They greeted and received them with such joy, which makes me feel happy and gives me a sense of security when I leave my boys with them. My boys’ favorite activities were the Easter egg hunt, the Pirate treasure hunt and the crafts they made (keychains, bracelets and pencil holder). Both ladies are extremely talented at their job and I can see that they enjoy what they do. World Café during breakfast: Kristian Sanchez remembered us from our visit in December and welcomed us back. He was very attentive and memorized our morning beverages (we were a group of 9!). Elmer also was our waiter and brought us yummy toast and bacon every day. Chef Luis Maciel’s food was always delicious. The ladies making omelettes to order were quick at taking orders. We were happy to see that the pool bar was open again. Our pool and beach waiters were beyond phenomenal. Francisco, Miguel, Jose Luis, Rogelio, Eduardo and Alex were always coming and checking if we needed refills which we appreciated. Lupita at the Barefoot Grill is happy to serve all the hungry guests. The hamburgers, hot dogs and nachos were our go-to everyday at lunchtime since we spent all of our day at the pool or the beach. Ana and Jovita at the Coco Café are great at making different types coffees, teas and hot cocoa. The pastries there are my favorite. They also have petite sandwiches. Dinner restaurants: Rosendo also remembered us from our previous visit and would always greet us whenever he saw us even if it was from afar. NOE was amazing last time and was amazing this time. When he saw us our first night there (at the Tiki Taco) he greeted us with a beautiful desert plate (see photo). He made sure we were always satisfied with our meals (he was at Da Mario, Tiki Taco and World Cafe different nights). He brought us the best pizza we have ever had south of the border (see pictures). Cirilo was also great. Entertainment: There were various night time shows (Magic Show, Urban Show, Light and Fire, Karaoke, Live Music) Mario Olvera was the one setting up for all of the shows (and sets up a movie at the Lobby bar area every night) and was there making sure the light and sound were working properly. Thanks to him we got to enjoy all the shows. Fabian is super friendly and made our stay even more fun. My husband enjoyed playing water volleyball as well as music and movie trivia. Our housekeeper Elizabeth always kept our room clean and tidy. In the evenings, another house keeper would come to change our towels if needed and close our curtains so when we got to our room at night we could just lay in our bed. This resort is great for families. There’s a water park which is for children only and my boys enjoyed very much. I highly recommend anyone to come and stay at Sunscape Puerto Vallarta. We are planning to return at the end of this year

The resort itself is nice. Some of the employees and guests are not color friendly..if you know what I mean. The pool closes at 8 pm; that was a bummer. Thankfully we had other things planned where it didn't bother us much. Food was average; breakfast was the best! As soon as you get there, they will interrogate you about things you don't care about on a Vaca. They promised things that they didn't deliver on. We wanted to switch out our room due to a smell, and they refused and came to spray air fresher...that was a joke. You will run across some good people, but they are far a few. The drinks, scenery were great. The sun club benefits were a plus but not needed. They did adhere to covid restrictions and supplied covid tests. You will consistently be approached while eating on the beach to buy things. I spent more time saying no than just relaxing. Again, Puerto Vallarta was a beautiful place to visit, and I will visit again just with another resort. Please tip in US dollars; converting to peso can be a little confusing...lol

The resort was nice enough, rooms average, hotel staff very pleasant and accommodating. It would have been great to have had wifi in the room like most hotels in Puerto Vallarta do these days. COVID 19 was rampant in the world during our visit and we felt that the staff enforced the rules as stringently as possible. The food was hit or miss. We had a couple of a la carte meals that were delicious and a few that were barely edible. Breakfast was served in a tiny room with mobs of people running over each other to get their food served to them. The line for the snack bar by the pool was ridiculous with 1 person cooking hamburgers for everyone which was the only item available to order. Overall, we had a nice time but probably won't return.

Sunscape in Puerto Vallarta is awesome! Two families with 4 kids (5-10 old) had a lot of fun: beautiful beach, pools and water park (for 12 and under), beach volleyball and soccer, and of course great shows (our kids favorite is light show with fire). There are also parasailing, snorkeling boat tours, jet ski, banana ride right on the beach. They are pretty cheap, so we’ve tried them all. Great buffet and 2 special restaurants gave a great food choices. Plus burgers and nachos at the pool grill :). And of course, best part of our stay is hotel staff - very friendly and professional. Special thanks to David from entertainment - he plays all possible sports, dances, and gives his energy to all guests! Photo with panorama view from our room on 12 floor.
