    Not a luxurious resort, but we enjoyed our stay.

    The room was decent, the food was good, and the servers were amazing. The a la carte restaurants were difficult to book...you had to be at the concierge in the main building at 7 am to stand in line, or you won't get a reservation. We did manage to get a late reservation to the Mexican and Italian, and they were awesome. The buffet seemed to always have a crazy line up, so we had to get there early. There was a small beach, but it wasn't very nice. The water was very dirty. If you walk down the beach a bit, there are some nicer spots, but nothing like the white sand beaches we found in Playa del Carmen and Cozumel. We were somehow suckered into attending a timeshare presentation. Not even sure how that happened, but at least we got a discounted excursion out of it. For the price, I would recommend this resort. I think I will try some others next time though.

    Came here for our honeymoon in February. Can honestly say we had the best time ever! We didn't like our first room but they moved us no problem, we had a room in block 8 which is near the smaller pool but walked over to large pool daily. We would go put some towels down around 8am then head to the buffet restaurant for breakfast! We had omelette nearly every day, fresh cooked with a choice of fillings and crispy bacon to die for lol. We didn't really eat lunch but if we did get peckish the black and white bar has pizza and cakes etc so would go have a game of pool a little pizza. The entertainment in the day was really good with all different pool games and shooting, crossbow, darts etc. The pool side swing bar was a favourite to get a little drink out of the sun. The bar men are fantastic and make everyone feel welcome always. Samuel was a firm favourite, you can have waiter service round the pool if you like ( take plenty 1 dollar notes to tip) We ate in the italian, the french, the steakhouse and the seafood restaurant twice. Aaron at the seafood was amazing, felt like we knew him on first meeting! Always a full glass and even got me chocolate cake as i didn't like the desert menu. You have to book the restaurants a day in advance at reception but we did this on our way to the pool. I would deffo recommend the restaurants they were all so good but the salmon in the seafood restaurant was out of this world. We booked a trip to coco bongo and OMG AMAZING honestly even if it's the only thing you do it's a must. We booked gold package consist of travel from hotel and security escort from bus to venue, walked straight in with wristbands and had shots on the entrance. Once inside we thought we had rubbish seats as was up the steps at the side but once the show starts we had the best view ever. We had a waiter who made sure we never had an empty glass he got me up on stage a couple of times with others and then at the end got us bottles of water for the way home. It also included a return bus journey. The evening entertainment was a different show every night or a karaoke disco in the black and white bar. It got very busy every night so an early seat is recommended. We had waiter service every time for a dollar or so. Last but not least the wildlife is beautiful the gardens are extremely well looked after and the little animals would make a show during the day. Couple of recommendations You can get a communal taxi from the hotel to playa del carmen for around £3 each. They love 1 dollar notes for tips. Do not rely on hotel for money exchange as it is expensive. To book the french restaurant be at reception for 7am but others can usually still book at 8am. Ask for premium drinks smirnoff, absolute, bacardi, gordons etc not just vodka, gin, whisky as they will happily serve them on request. You can book a bell boy via reception to taxi you around the resort. Take a cap/hat as the sun is extremely hot and they are very expensive to buy. Don't be afraid to ask for certain items aslong as you tip ;). please feel free to ask any questions.

    This was my first time going down south and it was incredible. The food was amazing, the rooms were gorgeous and well air-conditioned, and while the pictures you see here are outdated, they have made many great upgrades. I loved it and cannot wait to return.

    My husband and I absolutely loved our time at the Blue Bay! We were worried about weather reports as they read as cloudy/stormy each day, but there was barely a cloud in the sky and we didn't have any rain! I made some notes as the holiday progressed... Cocktail on arrival Helpful staff who escorted us to our room and helped with luggage Lovely spacious bedroom Fruit basket/chocolate covered strawberries on arrival to the room - lovely touch Bottle of wine in the room and a minibar-the contents of which are all included Coffee machine in room, which again is a lovely touch My hubby and I are big on mood-lighting, and the main restaurant does this really well. The food is so lovely too! The sunsets do fill up pretty quickly but we always managed to find two (even if we had to move them to be next to each other sometimes). There are definitely enough for all residents - you may just have to look around a bit The Production Shows are a real spectacle and to be honest not what we expected at all! Large casts and an array of talent so definitely worth a watch Coco bongos was amazing - we can't recommend highly enough. Go for the Gold Ticket package (I think that's what it was called). You get a seat rather than having to stand on the dance floor all evening, and it's table service. We never had an empty glass! Very attentive staff, and the show was amazing! A long night (around 5-6 hours in total including travel) but it flew by and was a perfect night! Things we would do differently next time: P20-high factor - I burned very quickly on the first day so go for a good quality high factor lotion Travel cup - there were no takeaway cups. I love walking around with a coffee in the morning so maybe consider taking a travel cup with you if you like doing this too. Ask for a pool view room, and ensure this is away from the beach (the smell of seaweed is not nice!) Be aware of: There are no air-conditioned bars, but there are some little gem spots where you can sit outside (next to the French restaurant) Book french rest early - we almost missed out on this as we didn't book until the day! Luckily we got a cancellation but had to try various times before being lucky Water - if you find you are short of water in your room and you're quite far Reception you can call them and they can run down to you in their golf buggy. The staff were great! All in all this was a beautiful hotel and we loved every minute! Thank you to all staff! Xxx

    Worst hotel we've ever stayed in!

    We stayed at the Bluebay in December 2019 for 2 weeks. Upon arrival of the hotel all seamed good, from the outside, this hotel looks good and we were hopeful because we thought we had picked the nicer hotel compared to other hotels we had passed. We checked in nice and quickly and walked to our room, which looked okay, not the best but okay. After two days of being in the room, a light fell down and slit my eyebrow open. my partner immediately went to reception and complained, we were offered a different room upstairs, which baffled me. After moving rooms we found some disgusting things that led to us complaining again, broken sink, taps not working and no hot water. We were then moved to a different room by the beach, with a hot tub. yet again upon arrival all seemed fine. Until water started running through the ceiling and onto our clothes in the wardrobe. The aircon was broken so the room was 40 degrees constantly, The hot tub only pumped through freezing cold water and when turned on filled with hair, we didn't use it. We did bring these things up with reception, maintenance people did come to fix it but they failed and we were left with no explanation because they didn't speak English. The restaurants are limited and staff CAN be friendly. In the A la carte restaurant long trousers and needed but should be changed, walking around in Mexico with jeans on is not ideal. Some members of staff would completely ignore you when walking into the restaurants, even after tipping they would walk past and ignore if you needed anything. there was one lady in the main restaurant that was amazing, I didn't manage to catch her name. The beach at this hotel is awful, I know this is no fault to the hotel but if you're looking for a nice Caribbean beach as we were, then please don't go to the hotel ( I do recommend the Grand Sirenis) the beach is very sharp and the water is unswimmable (Black and stunk!) We met a family that sat behind us on the plane to Mexico and they also stayed at our hotel. Upon speaking we had exactly the same problems they also would never return to this hotel. Like many other people, we spoke to. We travelled with TUI from Gatwick and they were wonderful! the crew on the aeroplanes and the reps in the Bluebay were fantastic, they actually helped us to get a partial refund on our holiday. I would avoid this hotel at all costs and would NEVER return and would not recommend that anyone does. This hotel states that its a 5-star but I've stayed in 3-star hotels that are 100x better than this place.
