The best all inclusive resort we’ve vacationed at. The staff was amazing and very kind. The food was delicious!! The taco bar at Agave was our favorite!! The pool area was spectacular!! I could have stayed by the pool every day!! The beach was within feet of the pool area with crystal clear blue waters. The rooms were amazing as well. The rainforest shower was a special treat. The decor is very modern and all updated technology!

Our trip was 4/1/21-4/6/21 Myself and 2 friends and our 17 year old daughters. We originally booked rooms at Caribe and discovered upon arrival that it was closed due to COVID, along with Tropical and Beach. We’d booked premium rooms at Caribe and so were given premium at Colonial. We stayed there 1 night and it was just fine but ended up transferring to Palace premium through our travel agents’ efforts. All the booking staff at Colonial and Palace were courteous and lovely even given the lashing given by some of our party who were particularly unhappy that our original rooms didn’t exist. That wasn’t fair to the staff but they handled it professionally and did everything they could to please. Once settled into Palace, we had a wonderful routine of buffet, beach , pool, activities and, of course, drinks. We’d save our beach chairs in the morning with an assortment of clothing and beach bags, go to a yummy breakfast buffet, then hit the beach. Water aerobics was offered each day in the pool which was fun and made you feel like you were earning your drinks. ?? Sales on the beach were not bad at all. Just jewelry, sunglasses, temp tattoos, photography, and excursions. We took advantage of the first 3. They recognize who got what and wouldn’t offer again throughout the stay. We took our own snorkel masks and snorkeled around the beach access. There are minnows and some medium sized, pretty white fish that hang around you while you swim. We also saw a sea turtle! The water is clear and beautiful. Due to day drinking, we didn’t really do night life. Plus didn’t want the 17 year olds mixing with the college spring breakers. We only made it to the amphitheater once and that was koroke night. Some of our folks participated. Which was funny. We had the option for 2 dinner reservations. We booked the Japanese steakhouse at Colonial for Easter which we enjoyed tremendously. We didn’t make our second booking, getting back late from an excursion. The buffet food for lunch and dinner varied and was good. Fun to try new things each day. The staff takes your temp and gives you a squirt of hand sanitizer before each meal. All wait staff were polite and prompt. For drinks we had some frozen and some mixed and all were good and not watered down like you’d think for an all inclusive. The bar in the buffet seating area was better than the pool side one for frozen drinks. We tipped for all drinks, shuttles and bell service. We didn’t tip at buffet eating times but that would be nice too. Book your COVID tests and restaurant reservations upon arrival. COVID test was $35 a person. We took ours at 10am (nose swab) and had results by 9pm. Thankfully negative! Masks are required in food areas unless you’re seated. We wore ours up to the bar during the day and in the lobby but not everyone did. The rooms were clean and nice with beautiful views. The Palace gives you bracelets with room access built in them. So great to not have to keep up with a card key! Colonial had card keys. The ride from the airport to Barcelo took almost 2 hours because of traffic due to a sinkhole. Only an hour 15 to get back. All in all, an awesome vacation and you can’t beat it for the price. Highly recommend!!

Salvador Poat was our favorite server in all of the Palace

We tried all of the restaurants during our 9 day at the Palace, but kept coming back to the Sushi restaurant due to the good food and service provided by Salvador. Gabi was also an excellent host and not only worked us in when she could, but also knew to put us in Salvador’s section. We hope to see both of them each year on spring break! Gracias, amigos!
