great visit as usual

cristinat868 (Edmonton, Canada) on Nov 24, 2025

THis is my 8th visit here. Lovely hotel, a bit dated, but charming and great food. Lots of seats on the beach or at the pool, my only surprise was that I had to specify to the bartenders that I wanted alcohol in my drink. 2 separate bartenders made my pina colada and Miami vice without alcohol and told me I had to say "with alcohol". Weird. I'm 45, not child-looking. Maybe I'm not party-looking enough?!?!?! Entertainment is lovely, hugs to Peter and Sparkles. I'd love to see you again. I miss seeing Chocolate and Angel from the old team. Lovely trip, as usual.

Amazing hotel even whilst battling Hurricane Melissa. How they handled everything should honestly be rewarded. Massive appreciation to the staff especially the entertainment team. Ruth, Andre, Pooh Bear, Concrete, Money Melly, KK, and all the rest!??

A Heartfelt Thank You to the Iberostar Suites/Waves Team After Hurricane Melissa

Stay10112637475 on Nov 03, 2025

The past few days at the Iberostar Suites/Waves have been unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. When Hurricane Melissa hit the island, there was so much uncertainty — fear, worry, and concern for everyone’s safety. But through it all, the staff there have been absolutely incredible. From the moment the storm warnings began, the team worked tirelessly to keep everyone calm, safe, and cared for. What has truly touched me most is that so many of them have their own families and homes to think about — some unable even to get back to them — yet they’ve continued to show up with kindness, warmth, and genuine compassion. There was never a hint of stress or complaint; only smiles, reassuring words, and an unshakable sense of calm. I want to give a massive shout-out to Browning, KK, O’Brien, Akeem, (from Waves) and the Spanish sisters (or twins) frim who manage with such grace, the Chinese-Jamaican housekeeper and his friend Matthew from Selection, and the Jamaican manager with the locks tied in a ponytail (she’s usually in one of the coloured shirts with the flag on the arm from Waves I think) . Each one of them went above and beyond in ways that words can hardly capture — checking in on guests, making sure everyone had what they needed, and somehow keeping spirits high even when the power flickered and the winds howled outside. There’s a real sense of family here at Iberostar — not just between the staff themselves, but extended to the guests too. We were all looked after as if we were part of their own. In the middle of a hurricane, that kind of heart and humanity is something I’ll never forget. To everyone who stayed and worked through those long, difficult days — thank you from the bottom of my heart. You’ve shown what true hospitality and courage look like. Iberostar should be so proud of you all.

Nice place for a family vacation!

Georgia Louise W (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) on Oct 13, 2025

Overall we had a nice family vacation at this resort. There were nine of us in total, all adults. The absolute highlight of our stay was the day we arrived. It was our Niece's 27th birthday and the chef at the Jamaican restaurant offered us a family style dinner on the beach and he did not disappoint! His hospitality was top tier. Our food was amazing! It was a very nice start to our vacation and what an awesome celebration of my niece's birthday. Overall score for the Jamaican restaurant = 10 Honorable mentions. Pool area. Score 8. Nice and clean with good views of the beach. Our Jr suite oceanfront king room scored 8. Bed was okay but the shower was awesome. Nice balcony too with awesome oceanfront views. Our housekeeper did an amazing job ! Food. Overall score 8. The buffet dining room really needs better ventilation. It was very uncomfortable dining inside without adequate air when the temps outside were above 85. Seating outside was always taken when we arrived so we had to endure the humidity inside. Italian restaurant was awesome. Score 9 Night entertainment. Score. 8 We enjoyed the lobby entertainment. Pool entertainment was more for the younger set but entertaining to watch. We did enjoy the water aerobics! That was fun. The lay of the resort is good once you figure things out. The sports bar needs improvement. Karaoke should not be in the same space as guests watching football games on the TV. Hotel staff. Score 7.5 Our check in guy "Akeem", hope I'm spelling his name right, deserves a solid 10. He was the consummate professional and very pleasant. Warning. Do not sign up for the resort tour with the concierge staff if you have no intentions of buying a vacation club membership. They are relentless and will track you down if you miss your scheduled time. Management needs to retrain concierge about how to treat their guests even if you decide not to go on the tour. We chose not to go and when we saw the young lady the next day, she was extremely rude and wouldn't even speak back to us after we said good morning. Overall it was a fun relaxing trip with our family. Final overall score = 8
