Family October half term trip

princesspea1968 (Basingstoke, United Kingdom) on Nov 17, 2025

We stayed here for ten nights over UK October half term and it was extremely quiet. The rooms are spacious and clean with two large comfortable double beds, a dining area, and hot shower, fridge and 50 inch tv. What else can you possibly need after a full day in the parks. There was housekeeping available everyday. There is a Starbucks in the reception area alongside a sports style bar and small tuck shop. There is also a gym and large swimming pool with waterslide. (Too cold for me but my adult children did get in) There was also a laundrette along from our room. Staff are polite and friendly. The hotel is within a short driving distance of the Disney parks, large Walmart etc, and a short drive to restaurants such as Olive Garden and outlet shopping areas. It’s about 25 minutes drive to Universal. We loved it here and would definitely book again. Excellent value for money. It’s a big thumbs up from us.

If this hotel was on a dating site it’d be a catfish

Pros: Staff are nice and the landscaping/pool area is beautiful. That is literally it. Let me just say we take reviews with a pinch of salt because people can’t half be picky but trust me on this one. The area is unsafe, this hotel is NOT in Celebration. Lots of dodgy people about at night, we walked right in through the back of the hotel pre check-in, no key card at 8PM! The car park is accessible by anyone, saw a previous review from 2024 stating this, with a response from the hotel, no fix though. There is an abandoned hotel right behind which is pretty scary, occupied by homeless and other strange people. Do NOT leave anything in your vehicles. Search Orlando Sun Resort on YouTube, if you want the creeps. The hotel rooms are dirty and old. It smells bad of mould/damp. We asked to move rooms, which was accommodated but there was little improvement. The conditions of the rooms are terrible, do not expect what you see on the hotels official pictures. Our bath tap was hanging off the wall, the safe didn’t work, the rail in the wardrobe was rusted and don’t even get me started on the carpets, ew! When we moved rooms, the exact same issues were in the new room, by the time we were going home our clean clothes smelled musty. They must of ran out of money during refurb because the rooms have been updated by America’s dodgiest landlord. Disappointing that Virgin Holidays would sell this hotel, I expected much better. We told the rep our budget and that we would like a nice place to stay but nothing too fancy, this place did not meet expectations. We literally went to a water park for a ‘rest day’ as this hotel was not somewhere we felt we could relax and enjoy downtime from the parks, which is a shame. Lesson learnt, never let a rep pick your hotel.

Lovely stay

Had such a lovely stay at the hotel !! The rooms were cleaned every day and the hotel rooms were huge. The staff were lovely and the onsite Starbucks was fantastic and easy to grab one in the morning.we also ate at dinner one night in the hotel and the portions were excellent and food tasted great. The location is perfect for Disney it’s literally just up the road and also has so many shops and restaurants right on the door step.

Never Again

To begin, I booked this hotel because Marriott is (was) a trusted brand for me. I stay in Orlando about once a year and compared prices with other hotels and chose Delta because it appeared to be the best value. Problems began at check in - The hotel disclosed a parking fee but no resort fee in the pricing (I'm aware of resorts using this to advertise a lower rate). When I got to the hotel I was told I had to pay a $24 per day parking fee AND a $25 per day resort fee which was not disclosed in the original reservation (see screenshot). Florida has passed a law prohibiting this which takes effect in June 2026. HOWEVER, the FTC passed a law against it effective May 2025 and I will be filing a complaint under that law. Had I known about the fee I would have stayed at Holiday Inn which was nicer, closer to Disney and (I know now) cheaper than Marriott. I requested an ADA room as I have had both my knee and hip replaced and I am prone to falls. Not only did they give me a standard room, but they put me in a building with a broken elevator (see photo). The manager tried to blame the travel agent, but as you can see from the image of the TV it says "Welcome Stuart" (i.e. they gave me someone else's room). If you make a mistake then say so; don't gaslight me and try to put the blame on me. When I got to the room the HVAC was set to 65 degrees. I set it to 72 at which point it turned off and noticed what smelled like mildew. I turned the fan to constant on to reduce the smell but had to listen to it every time I was in the room. Other issues included: * torn drapes in the room * threadbare carpet * something on the bathroom mirror that looked like mildew * some sort of absorbent pad floating in the water outside The deferred maintenance is unacceptable because most of it is an easy fix. So are the issues with desk staff - retrain them and explain the law to them or replace them. I won't come back to this hotel and it will be a long time before I stay at a Marriott property based on this experience.
