Very Clean Resort but not Gluten Free
Sharon B (Westlock, Canada) on Feb 12, 2025
The Resort was very clean, the beach was spectacular no seaweed. Lots of lounge chairs for everyone at the beach. The pools were amazing and clean, rooms comfortable. The food was good except there were absolutely no signs that let you know if the food was gluten friendly. Being that I am unable to eat Gluten this made my stay very hard. It was a hit and miss. They said that the restaurants had a Gluten Friendly menu but they did not. You were lucky if you had one or 2 options to chose from. I really don't think the resort knew how important this is for customers like myself. If you are Celiac or Gluten Intolerant then unfortunately I do not recommend this resort.
Would not return unless a deep discount price

Cons: Front desk check in staff are rude and not welcoming. Hard to secure a reservation at restaurants - you only get 3 a week. Rooms are bare minimum. We didn’t even have a chair to sit in. Nowhere to hang wet swim suits. Mini fridge in room - empty. No bottled water handed out at this resort. Balcony so small you can’t sit out. Limited amount of pool loungers- go extra early if you want to sit at pool. Hot tub - full of toddlers - despite the sign that says no one under 12. We were not permitted to exchange our towel for a dry one during the day. Pros: Well kept grounds. Rooms are clean, Bar staff and food servers work really hard. Adult pool is usually quieter. Beach is great. Walkable and swimmable. Food is “okay” .. bland - but has to suit everyone. We have been to other viva resorts and had no concerns. This experience has turned me off the Viva brand.

We are currently staying at the resort, and it's mediocre. Our room key keeps not working, which results in a 100-mile walk back to the main building to have them reprogram the keys for the 5th time. They didn't have enough room in their al-a- carte to let us book during our stay. There is no microwave in the bedrooms. All and all it wasn't as impressive as I expected an all inclusive to be. Here's hoping tomorrow is better and I can write a new review

Very, very helpful guest service staff, especially, Hernan & Ruben. Wonderful coffee shop. Nice quiet room in building 3000. The restaurants are very nice with lots of choices. The steak at the Mexican restaurant was excellent. We love the adult only pool area.
