Some major negatives
Alexander C on Mar 24, 2024
I stayed here as an all inclusive guest. Positives: -gorgeous spot with two bays for swimming - pool and deck are pleasant spaces - very quiet Major Negatives: - All inclusive menu is restricted to a small set of dishes, some are there every day and they offer a few daily specials- but these are sometimes unusual. The bulk of menu options come at a significant extra charge. -Breakfast and lunch are good quality but the dinner is substandard and comes uncomfortably quickly. - Staff seem to be learning their craft. Sadly, orders are routinely confused and the reception team were unable to provide extra bedding and pillows. - No watersports facilities and equipment at all, despite reception promising this. - Bedding is thin, bedrooms are very dated and the showers are basic - drain smell too... More of a hostel vibe. They could have a real gem here but they have quite a lot of work to do.
A wonderful holiday

What a wonderful find, the hotel is in a very peaceful area. We can’t thank everyone for making our stay so memorable. Special thanks to Melissa, Brian &Jay, plus so many others sorry I can’t remember all your names. The food is amazing we had no problem choosing from the great variety every day. The wine was of a very good quality, as were many of the cocktails. The beach was clear of seaweed, never had a problem getting a sun bed, plenty on the beach and round the pool. The room was clean and the bed was so comfortable, bedding and towels changed frequently. We did have a slight problem with hot water, this was sorted out. Coffee machine on the next level down, great coffee. Met some lovely people while we were there. Hopefully we’ll see you again soon.
Best hotel on the island.

Wonderful hotel. Friendly, helpful professional staff. All rooms with sea views. A la carte for all meals with excellent choice. Food cooked and presented to the highest standard. If you are on the private beach, a lunch menu arrives and you get served on the beach. No coffee or tea making facilities in the room, but free vending machines with excellent coffee are just a short walk from your room. Calm, relaxing music is played, no head banging stuff. There is a supermarket a quick 30 minute walk away, but that is about it. Anything else is a taxi ride or organised tour. If I go back to Antigua, this is the hotel I will choose. Highly recommend.
A decent week in the sun but not without issues

We knew this wasn’t going to be luxury and that hotels in the Carib tend to be more relaxed. We also accepted that this was only a 3 star hotel but we did feel it was only just about that. We arrived late and tired but the check in was smooth and we were taken to our room by the porter/handyman (he get about and does everything it seems) We had a sea view room on which was met expectations initially. Very large comfortable bed, decent quiet air con, plenty of sockets, small safe. The bathroom was dated and needs an overhaul IMO…shower curtain was grim and it smelt a but musty. The hot water pressure was abysmal and on one afternoon post beach we couldn’t even shower as there was zero hot water. We did raise this with reception who said it was a hotel wide issue but we could use the shower in the toilets next to reception (no thanks!). At best the hot water was just about working if we came back around 16:30 and had a shower right away…..any later and it was all gone…..cold shower or nothing. We were expecting good things from the food based on reviews but really it only just ticked the box. Some of the courses are strange to say the least…..a starter of shrimp cocktail with chicken wings was weird IMO. As an Italian owned hotel we thought the Italian dishes would be a safe bet but the pizza night was a lowlight….not home made IMO and not great. Breakfasts were better with loads of choice of hot or continental. Lunches in the restaurant were a mixed bag…some better than others but we found the bar lunch menu was better and the chicken wrap/club sandwich were both really nice. Drinks were really good and the cocktails were nice. Personal favourite was the Coconut Crush mocktail and the Virgin Pena Colada. From a service perspective it was another mixed bag. We found the bar staff to be very good and we tipped them appropriately. The restaurant staff were a very mixed bag from attentive and polite to what came across as disinterested and rude. You can wait to be seated for what seems like a long time while staff almost avoid eye contact so they don’t have to serve you. We also had a few occasions when food never turned up despite being ordered….the last lunch was an example when we ordered ice cream and it 20mins later nothing had arrived so we just walked out. Nobody seemed that bothered. Reception staff were less than helpful re the hot water issues mentioned earlier and also were useless when we asked about a late checkout. Initially being told we could have the room to 1pm and they would check to see if we could have it til 4pm (willing to pay for it). When we checked again it was a hard 12noon checkout with no wiggle room and an abrupt response. They lack attention to detail IMO….we checked out and were waiting in reception only to then be asked 30mins later (by the same person) if we were checking in! Other stuff…. - Day trippers from cruise ships do descend on the hotel to use facilities and can be disruptive - Beach towels were small - Sunbeds were a mixed bag but mostly comfortable - Wifi was good all around Overall it did the job for an AI week in the sun and we could accept the shortcoming for that duration. Any longer and I think it would have grated a bit more.
A great experience

Excellent food and service. Great ambiance and amazing and courtest Staff. It's an experience worth having and the Staff go all the way to make your Stay stress free. The surroundings beach, pool rest and comfort areas will make you feel Royal.
