    22nd Birthday Weekend

I stayed at the W Fort Lauderdale for my 22nd birthday and absolutely loved it. It was a gift from my parents. When Eros at the front desk found out that it was my birthday, he had champagne and a card signed by him and all of the staff sent up to our room. It was so sweet. I saw the way he patiently dealt with people at the front desk and made every person feel important and appreciated. He is the epitome of hospitality. We also spent time at the pool and met Jayden, who just started working at the W not too long ago. I cannot say enough good things about him and what an asset he is to the hotel. He is servant-hearted and kind and continuously checked up on us to see if we needed anything. These two (and everyone else at the hotel, especially Viergina) went above and beyond to make it the best birthday possible. The things that you humbly and quietly do — from serving at the front desk to cleaning rooms for your guests to working at the pool — do not go unnoticed. You should be celebrated! Thank you again.

Common Sense, Not so Common @WFORTLAUDERDALE

This place is a joke!!! I won a full night stay from a charity auction where the room and fees were included. I called and made the reservation with no issue (at least I was told it was okay) to celebrate a friends birthday. I gave the voucher number and the reservationist confirmed that the voucher covered everything- the room and that all fees were paid for and I was good to go, no need even to put down a credit card to hold the room. We get to the hotel and are given a room that already has someone in it - YES - We open the door and another guest is in our room! We go back down to the front desk where total ciaos is taking place, as several other guests are displaced from rooms and reservations lost. Another room is assigned to us and we get settled in. Upon check-out I go the front desk and ask why on our folio we are being charged, as the room is comped and re-present the voucher. They proceed to get an associate manager, Sarah Zug, who look at the voucher and pulls up that it covers everything but that they can not even look into the matter deeper because the in house reservation office is closed and an email to them was suppose to be sent. So they insist they have to charge the card and that it would be looked at next day - Monday. I get an email Monday that because the reservation was booked over the phone and not through there in-house reservation department that the would not honor the voucher... yep. Insane!! Despite the ridiculous formality of booking the room with the voucher, All the information was provided and no instruction from the person I booked the room with that I needed to do anything else as the reservation went through, the room was held, and she could see from the voucher number that everything was taken care of. I feel swindled!! Even if the "proper" protocol wasn't taken, the voucher should still be honored and they refuse because "no record of the reservation is listed on their in house booking system." Lydie Medley, was of zero help and acted as if I was trying to pull a fast one. For an established that tries to act chic and high-brow, I have never felt more of an illusion and sever lack of customer service and empathy or even a genuine attempt to right error - that by common sense alone should be corrected easily, as I have the voucher and booked the room without a credit card. It seems that the W Hotels reservation system needs to follow strict protocol and not blame the guest. Now I'm out $600 for a nightmare of stay! Don't do it... Go to the Ritz Carlton instead where they understand how to properly treat their guests.

Overall, a decent stay. Think the place is overrated and riding on past reputation, but the biggest problem I had was paying for valet, and I had my car on charge overnight. When I went to leave the next day, there was no charging of my battery!

I've stayed here a few times and I really like it. Location is ideal, staff are great, rooms are nice and clean. It's really nice to not be in the craziness of South Beach, but still have the W experience. I'll be back again!

Stayed here one night for a wedding down the street. Can't beat the location! The pool and view of ocean are awesome. Service was great at the bar and the rooms were nice. Bed was comfortable and room was nice and cool.
