Absolutely amazing place! The staff go above and beyond to make your stay as memorable as possible. I have been coming to this particular resort for over 10 years and there is a reason for that. The resort itself is made up of 4 sections which have been combined to form one mega resort. There are 4 pools, 2 of which are swim up bars, a 24hr bar and snack bar and more snack bars scattered throughout. A couple buffets. The a la carte dinners need to be booked in advance and a disco. There's a pirate ship bar on the tiny cove beach and sometimes they do the nights entertainment there. The chambermaids are so good at tidying your room you can't help but smile when you enter and find a beautiful towel sculpture on your bed. They have many different types of excursions (extra $) and a newly renovated local market right next door. The ladies and gentlemen that set up shop here provide a wonderful array of souvenirs from key chains, clothes, beautifully handcrafted sculptures to incredibly detailed paintings. But be warned if you see something you like buy it because what's there today won't be there tomorrow as the vendors tend to change. I have missed out on many beautiful things because I was silly and thought I'd see it again another day before I left and never saw them again. Not even on future trips. All in all a wonderful home away from home resort!

This is not only a vacation, this is an experience. The people you'll meet there is just so beautiful. You're gonna make friends, maybe even family. The food is really good and there are a lot of activities you can do with the animation crew. You are not gonna regret it, just go for it ;)

I realize this review is quite a few months old (pre virus) but I want fellow travelers to know my experiences I had over the years at Club Amigo. My g/f and I used to travel to Club Amigo easily three times per year as it was a inexpensive hotel with a lovely beach life. Prices for two weeks started at $900 for two weeks, even during high season a few years ago. We stayed in the villas, bungalows. ocean view in tropical section and generally enjoyed our trip. Our last time was in the bungalows, where one of the beds was covered in small bugs, underneath the pillow. We immediately reported the incident to customer service , as well as our rep who gave us an upgrade to the villas, (and told us to keep the incident quiet). I seldom went to the bar for a drink (near the villas) as the bar tender basically ignored me and served the locals first unless of course I tipped him a dollar or so. I used to send my g/f who spoke Spanish which was helpful and I assume they thought she was Cuban. Food was hit or miss most of the time. The line ups for food at lunch time and weekends was terrible. I have nothing against the Cubans butting and pushing in front of you but there has to be some kind of order. If the hotel improves., and the prices stay the same we may revisit again.
