I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who visits Kauai. We couldn't decide whether staying in the north shore or in the south, so Kapaa turn out to be the choice in the middle, and Kauai Shores was an even better choice. The hotel is structured in several independent modules. Rooms are very good, clean, with a big balcony. In the centre, there are 2 pools, and if you also have direct access to the ocean. There is a restaurant right on the beach with good food (especially for lunch, dinner you can find better places on Kauai). Parking is ok and free (!), sometimes the lot if full, but you can park just outside of the structure and it is fine. Overall, very good, I would definitely stay here again when back on Kauai

Great customer service. Small town feel that is friendly and personal. Rooms clean and private feel on the beach. Complimentary valet makes it easy to come and go. Do need signs to help people not walk in the street.

Great location right on the beach

My husband and I loved this hotel for our honeymoon. Simple rooms but right on the beach, restaurant on-site where you sat literally with your toes in the sand for breakfast, lunch, happy hour and dinner. Complimentary activities like yoga on the beach, bicycle rentals, ladder ball, cornhole, two pools, a hot tub and a fire pit. The hotel also had beach chairs on the sand; we spent a couple afternoons and one evening just relaxing on the beach, about a 30-second walk from our room! A couple other reviews mentioned the dated bathrooms; we didn't care for the shower, but given the price we paid, we knew it would be simpler than some of the hotels on the South Shore (that would have been double the price). Also, we felt like the prices at the restaurant, while expensive, were on par with what we found at every restaurant we went to on the island. Extra bonus; the hotel is just down the road from downtown Kapa'a, which is full of fun cafes, restaurants and shops with lots of local products. Staff were always wonderful; helpful front desk, and the housekeeping staff in the Mauka building always greeted us whenever we walked by. When we come back, we will definitely stay again!

So the property is right on the beach...I mean walk out the door sand and surf. There are a couple pools and at least one hot tub. There is a restaurant on premises, over priced with a limited menu. The sunsets are beautiful. Here's the but, the rooms are really dated, the bathroom in our room had an awful shower configuration. The john was too small too low to the floor and moved a lot upon sitting and standing. The bathroom sink and mirror area was tiny. Towels were small room was small and on day one it had a bit of a mildew smell. Yet with all that I'd still go back. The staff was on point. Text for service with immediate response. Beautiful grounds pools and ocean views. Parking is suspect but valet is free. Look based on the room I wanted to hate the place but everything else including the price that included a 4 day rental car...I loved it. If you spend a lot of time in your room on vacation this may not be the spot for you. Did I mention all the rooms had nice little private patios? Again, I wanted to hate the place but instead I loved it...just that darn room.

    Great value and location

So glad we upgraded for kitchenette with good sized fridge, microwave, dishes, electric skillet, sink, toaster, K cup coffee maker! After stocking up at Costco (we also booked our entire trio thru Costco & highly recommend) in Lihue, we made snacks & sandwiches for a to go lunch in the cooler that comes with the room, so handy! (Brought ice packs from home) Very clean premises, safe, easy to get in & out of. Front desk staff very friendly & helpful. The hotel grounds are very well kept. Our upgrade gave us breakfast vouchers each morning at Lava Lava restaurant on hotel grounds, such a lovely view for breakfast each morning and was good breakfast food. Really nice beach at this hotel with pine trees for shade! Oddly there are a few random things missing from the hotel rooms that you’d expect at any other hotel. No bath robe, no dirty laundry bag, no privacy curtain veil to let light into ur room (1st floor). Just a full thickness curtain so was a tad on the dark side. Also only 2 drawers for clothes? Parking is an issue across this wonderful island and this hotel shares in that. Two of our 6 nights here we had to valet (complimentary but of course you feel obligated to tip) because there were no parking spaces left after 8:30pm. Also, teeny tiny parking spaces and many other hotel guests seem to hv no concern for their fellow hotel guests and take more than their share of the spot! But overall this hotel was exactly what we needed! Plenty of nearby grocery stores, restaurants & shopping in lovely Kapaa. A great hotel for the price point!
