Anniversary celebration

Ivan A on Apr 11, 2024

Sandals Royal Bahamian was an AMAZING experience. My wife and I were celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary so we wanted to celebrate with a bang. We visited St. Lucia with Sandals before so we knew it would be a great time. Royal Bahamian exceeded our expectations! Hospitality went above and beyond! Kevinson, Sterling and Dewayne ensured we had everything we needed and that we were always smiling! Big shout out to Zoe, Arnold, Giovanni, Mark and the whole Sandal staff. We can’t wait to be back

Not 5 star, 4.5 in our opinion

My wife and I stayed here for 10 nights in late march - early April 2024. I would have given 4.5 if allowed, but that was not an option. In summary, great holiday, with some really good points and some room for improvement in a couple of areas: 1. Good points: a) Brilliant animation team, always on the go and encouraging (not over the top) the inclusion of residents. Hats off to Arnold, Jeanie, Giovanni, Mo Jo (Shelton) and James plus a couple I did not get the names of. Done a lot of AI and this is the best team by far! b) Very clean hotel, excellent rooms and facilities, great setting and lovely beach. c) Lovely private island, not always directly accessible from the hotel if sea too choppy as its a short free boat ride. See web site for facilities on the island. d) Great restaurants, with the exception of the french (see later) e) Very friendly staff (with the exception of the food trucks - see later) f) Excellent butler service, expensive option and some may consider the service over the top. We took it for 3 days as it was the only room available to match our flight schedule. g) Great social atmosphere in the piano bar with sing along with the fantastic pianist Dwight. h) Very effective air con which is a must (for us) j) Very good evening entertainment with all the team and engaging for residents. 2. Room for improvement; a) Very poor experience in the a la carte French restaurant. Waited 40 minutes for prawn cocktail, but mains delivered first! Took mains away, brought starter and then mains which I think had just been kept warm. Heard others complaining and I sensed a level of 'chaos' in the french restaurant. We never went back a 2nd time as it was so poor. Not satisfactory for the price we paid, so Sandals need to sort this. b) Whilst most of the staff are very friendly, the staff in 1 of the 2 small food trucks (the dessert truck) were the polar opposite and this which is out of character with the resort, and again needs resolving. c) Minor point but the listed animation activities broadcast on the TV did not align with the PRINTED version that is provided and is the one the resort uses. This is poor. d) The app is not as good as some competitors (Palace resorts) and this is not very user friendly. Such as can only book 1 a la carte - why? Overall very good, but not 5 star in my opinion and some finer details need improvement. UK holiday maker.

Second time just as good!

Courtney M (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) on Apr 07, 2024

We visited March 27th-30th. It was the shortest Sandals trip we’ve ever done and a little spontaneous but we had a blast. We got married here in May of 2016 so we wanted to return to see how things had changed. Most of the changes were positive, but we were a little disappointed to see our wedding gazebo was no longer there. Positive Changes- Coconut Grove addition with food trucks and additional bar, room renovations Weather- we had never traveled to the Caribbean during March and I was worried about the temperature in the Bahamas at that time. The day temps were perfect, plentiful sunshine but a couple of windy days and one on the chiller side night. I was definitely glad I brought a versatile Jean jacket to go with all my dresses. Pools- The West end pool is definitely heated, just enough to knock the chill off although our last day there it seemed like it wasn’t working. We never used the East pool as we wanted the music and fun. Finding chairs was hit and miss. Couldn’t find one at all at the West pool one day. Ended up putting our things at a beach chair instead. One morning I came down at 8:30 and got the last 2 chairs. The day we left there were tons of chairs open at 11am so definitely different on the popular check in and out days. Plentiful beach chairs were available the whole time and in shade. The private island was closed all 3 days we were there due to wind/waves. It opened on the day we left but you had to take a shuttle to a different dock off resort to get there. Service- We only had a couple staff that were unfriendly. Everyone else was polite at the least and happy/fun at the most. Overall, service ranked in the top 3 sandals experiences we have had (out of 8). Shout outs: Butch’s server Deshon Piano Bar- bartenders Melvin, Leonardo Queens Pearl Pub- bartender Jay, server Static West Bay Pool Bar- bartender Chardonnay Loyalty- Mike Restaurants- we tried to hit them all in 3 days lol we didn’t quite make it but got close. Butch’s, Tesoro for both lunch (pizza) and dinner, Soy, Calico cafe, and Coco Queen were our favorites. Gordon’s was our least favorite but the sunset on the water made up for it. We had slow service only once and that was at Tesoro. It was extremely slow, even having a Buffett to graze while you wait. Perhaps they were short staffed but the manager came over and apologized for our wait and my chicken parmigiana was delicious. Hey, it’s island time, I didn’t have anywhere to be. Sweet n Tings food truck was a little disappointing. One morning the only thing they had was plain coffee, and the women there were super unfriendly. Made me feel like an inconvenience. However I did try a chocolate crepe on our last morning and it was great! Room- we stayed in 1317 (WC) The room wasn’t bad for the category. I requested to be on a higher floor on the pool side. We didn’t get a high floor but we did get pool side so I was happy. It was spacious and had a nice bathroom. Toilet and shower had a separate door so I could get ready while the husband showered, etc haha. See attached pic for room view. Entertainment- we didn’t partake in the nightly entertainment as much as we normally would. Our time was so short we just let the night take us where it would. We ended up at the piano bar every night followed by the pub. We met a lot of great couples and hung out. The guys played a game of pool together one night and we all watched one of the NCAA games another. Overall so much fun for our quick trip. The water is even more blue and beautiful than I remember. We plan on coming back with our friends in 2 years for our 10 year anniversary. See you soon Royal Bahamian!

Romance

Archie1569 on Apr 07, 2024

Wonderful, beautiful & romantic all inclusive couples only resort chain. Our second trip here was even better than our first time 6 years ago. You must dune at the various restaurants, especially La Plume and the Italian restaurant Tesoro, antipasto bar is amazing. Go to Sandals private island, simply beautiful, lush and relaxing.
