We visited Rosen Shingle Creek after a recommendation from Virgin Holidays. The hotel is a short drive from MCO international Airport and has a security guard on the gate upon arrival, so the resort has a secure feel. After parking the car at self parking, the only downside is the stroll from the car park to reception. If you are lucky one of the convention centre doors will be open so you can use lifts/ elevators or the escalator to get to reception. We were lucky twice to have Security provide a lift in their golf cart to reception. The room we were allocated had a king size bed and the room itself, was really lovely. We had a view of the car park and fountains, but you could see Universal Resort and the Icon 360 in the distance. The restaurant Cafe Osceola has friendly staff and overall the food was lovely, pancakes were the only thing we didn’t enjoy as they were tough to eat. We visited all the pools during our stay and recommend the lap pool for a lazy day as nobody uses it. Towels are available for free. The pool bar had a relaxing feel and all the staff and customers were happy to chat and it was good atmosphere watching the baseball and English football at the bar. As the hotel caters to conventions we did chat to a lot of convention attendees. We were never woken up by anybody coming or going but do recommend the do not disturb sign as housekeeping does start early. We would definitely stay here again as it was 15 minutes drive to Disney, 10 minutes to Universal and 5 minutes to Sea World. Overall this is probably the best hotel I’ve stayed at in Florida.

I attended an annual convention here that included participants from all medical academic programs of the country. This is a big meeting. I expected may be too much. Long story short at that time I had a nursing child and I was pumping very frequently. During my break of 30 mins, 25 mins were spent asking where lactation room was. Most of the people (Rosen shingle staff) looked at me as if I was asking for their kidneys to be donated!! No one had any clue about a possibility of a nursing or lactating room. I ended up asking one of them “your female staff members don’t have this need or what”? That staff ended up calling the manager and guess what - manager had no clue if they had lactation room in this entire big resort. That nice person offered me to pump in his office space if I was comfortable with it. Finally someone said “oh I think I saw a room where females were gong with these kind of bags”- referring it to my pump bag. Apparently the convention people did tag a room for this purpose but it was hidden on the other end of the resort and no one from staff members knew about it. Seriously- my 30 mins of break went away like this. I was disappointed that no one cares about mothers who are working and still trying to provide nutrition to their children.
