Where to begin... I've been to many all inclusive resorts and do not think I'm picky by any means. All I ask for is friendly staff, good food and good drinks. However; this hotel failed to dissapoint. Vibe: First off, for the whole week, my boyfriend and I felt judged. For some reason, it appeared we were the only couple vacationing that were not from Mexico or who spoke Spanish. This meant, plenty of stares and hotel staff laughing behind our backs and talking about us in Spanish (at least that is what it felt like). And for some reason, the night shows were only in Spanish. I mean, I understand that the show should be in Spanish if 99.9% of the vacationers speak Spanish, but then, why not put a caution while booking, that none of the shows would be in English so we could have booked a different hotel. So yeah, we were unable to watch any of the night shows. I mean, it didn't look like we were missing much, but still, it would have been nice to have some entertainment that we understood. Credit Card Scam: My boyfriend only used the ATM machine at this hotel and we believe it may have been compromised from this resort. My credit card was also compromised and I wonder if it was through booking an excursion through the hotel representitive. Needless to say, we got back home and noticed transcations on our cards made form Mexico that we did not authorize and happened when we were back in our home country. So, I can't say for certain it came from this hotel, but it is very likely. So watch out and try to bring cash and limit your use of your cards. Booking Excursions: Try to do this on your own. One excursion we went to that was set up by the hotel never came to pick us up at our meeting spot. We were literally stranded in the middle of nowhere and it was extremely hard and stressful to find help and to find a ride back to the hotel. The hotel did reimburse us for this trip, but what a waste of our time. Also, they arranged for the taxi drivers to pick us up, who wouldn't budge on price and it was quite pricey for a short 10 min ride away. Use uber for transportation or find your own taxi driver when you can negotiate the price. Also, book your excursions online. Staff: Like I said, some staff we felt very judged by and laughed at. There was one staff member who was working at the lobby bar who insulted my boyfriend and I. As we walked up to him, he had his backs towards us, watching the television. He turned around and saw us walking towards him and turned his back again to the TV, like he couldn't be bothered. We then waited for about 20 awkward seconds before he turned around to serve us. Um...? When my boyfriend then asked him in a very friendly way "how has your day been going?", he was extrememly rude and said, "terrible, all these people walking around with money and I'm not getting anything", obviously referring to my boyfriend and I. Um. First off. This is an all inclusive resort and we should not be pressured to tip. Second, don't assume we are these "people walking around with a ton of money", because that it not the case and is that assumption because we are not from Mexico or speak Spanish? Third, we should be greeted in a friendly manner at all times and be treated respectfully by staff. Forth, why the hell would we tip someone with that kind of attitude? Like, what? Never have I felt so badly treated by a staff member at an all inclusive. We avoided that staff member for the rest of the vacation, which was annoying, as he was often at the lobby bar which was the only bar open late at night. The ladies at the front were also not that friendly or helpful and I caught them staring at us from across the room once, which they quickly looked away. Again, we felt really judged. Now, with all that said, there were plently of friendly staff members. The staff at the buffet and a la carte were very friendly and the entertainment guy was really cool. Also a couple of really cool bartenders working, so thank you to everyone who treated us in a respectful and kind manner. Drinks: Yuck. I did not find one drink that I enjoyed at this resort. They were for sure watered down and just really bad quality. In addition, even the pop tasted watered down, so I'd have to buy from the store. Also, in the rooms, they only provide you with 2 beers, 2 pops and 2 waters on arrival. They never restock the beer or pop and only give you two additional waters per day. This was annoying, as since the drinks were so bad, it would have been nice to have canned beer or pop that actually tasted good. Also, water should always be available for no additional costs at an all inclusive in my opinion. Food: Again, yuck. Worst buffet I have ever been to at an all inclusive. My boyfriend also had some stomach issues the day after he ate tacos at the buffet. The food was cold so often it was insane. And it was so small and lacking in variety. Also, the juices were gross, with the excpetion of the orange juice. The breakfast was the only decent meal of the day. The a la cartes also lacked. We couldn't book the Mexican A La Carte for some reaons, which I still don't know why and the Itailian was very nothing to brag about. Rooms: Our room faced the parking lot, which sucked. I know I requested a balcony when I booked, which there were several on the resort. But still, we didn't get one. Also, it smelled really modly and damp and the shower burned me on the first day. Luckily it got a bit better throughout the week, but I never enjoyed taking a shower there. Beach: If you are looking for a great beach to swim in and body surf, this is it. The sand is great and there is no seaweed anywhere. There are vendors here and there, but very friendly and not pushy at all. Sad to see though, that a coconut was $10 peso if you spoke Spanish or were Mexican, but was $70 peso for us. Very dissapointing to see and be treated so differently. Location: About a 15 min drive from the airport which was nice. If you want to walk to Bucerias, it's about a 45 min walk from the hotel on the beach. Here you can do some shopping (prepare to bargain) and buy cheap beer from the local oxxo store. We paid $30 peso for two beers of Heineken! YES PLEASE! Tip: Don't walk on the beach there...it takes too long. You can instead take a nice path from the front of the hotel OR grab one of their bikes and do your own bike tour. This trip will take you about 15 mins. Excursions: I recommend booking through Vallarta Adventures. The Uber was only $70 Peso to get to the meeting point and only 10 mins from the hotel. Very good company and I would book with them again. My boyfriend and I did the Extreme Adventure and it was amazing. We also did the Canopy Jorullo Bridge RZR Tour, but I wouldn't recommend it. Too much wasted time sitiing around doing nothing. The Taco Tour offered with Vallarta Food Tours was also pretty cool, but then again, you can find yummy tacos anywhere at a much cheaper price! All in all, I will never return and do not recommend this resort.

I came to the samba for a vacation by myself and they made me feel like part of the family. All the staff is so amazing and eager to make everyone’s trip the best it can possibly be. One of the managers jimmy was always available and helped quickly with any questions or concerns. Cheke with the activities team goes above and beyond to entertain and make the guests laugh. Everyone loves him. Yessica with the kids club is always so friendly and helpful with anything she can do! As well as always putting smiles on the kids faces. Fransisco at the Italian restaurant is so friendly and even helped make last minute reservation for me to make one of my lonely meals much more enjoyable. The food was amazing, the buffet never disappoints, yes it can get repetitive but it’s still quality food. And the bartenders are always happy to make a delicious drink for you. The Samba is a great hotel and one I’d love to return to very soon.

Nice beach and plenty of paloppa, but ---

Not one of those huge resorts that one can get lost in. The staff is polite and friendly. We had the ocean front Jr. Suite, very nice. It has a good size bed room and a large living room and two toilets. The bed is huge and comfortable. The pillows are perfect. AC is controllable. Water has adequate pressure. Daily room cleaning. Two new bottles of drinking water a day. The resort is very old. The counter and the lobby gave a depressing feeling. It is not much better than Motel-6. The counter service was good though. Check in was fast. The other issue is food. This issue really ruined our stay. They need a much wider variety. They have three restaurants. The buffet restaurant seems to serve the same items every day. We went to the Italian restaurant one night. It requires a reservation. We like it. We did not bother with the Mexican restaurant and just went to the buffet restaurant for all our meals (besides the one time in the Italian restaurant). All I can say is, you better like egg omelet and papaya. The place was not busy this time of year. There were a lot of kids in the pool though. 99.9% of the customers were locals. Very friendly people. Need more staff. Of the 5 days we were there under the paloppa, not once was there a staff asked if we wanted a drink or anything. Also, the buffet restaurant seemed to need more staff also. Yea, the gym? Forget about it. Would we return to Samba? Not unless they at least drastically improve the food variety and update the resort.
