Majestic Colonial was great. Our wedding was everything we could be asked for and more. Our butler Leonel was awesone as was Gabriel the bartender at the adults only pool. They went our of thier way for us. The wedding coordinator dayra amd on site coordinator Ruth were amazing people that made sure our wedding day was magical. The food was really good amd there is a lot of variety. I highly recommend visiting the majestic colonial. It's service to the clients is remarkable. Aj

We stayed from 6th to 13th Oct at swim up room with indoor and outdoor jacuzzi. Grateful that we have got free upgrade to club side. Love private beach area for club members and plenty of bars at the beach and around the hotel. Club lounge is a star for nibbles and so is the street food bar. Good buffet for breakfast and Lunch. Apart from Mexican restaurants, the others, French, Spanish and Japanese, for dinner are very disappointing. Sadly, the culture and attitude of the staff is very much tip oriented. They are nice to the guests who tip them plenty and neglect and unhelpful, even on rude side, to those who don’t or tip only occasionally. Especially bartenders and waiters. They expect you to tip them every time you go to eat or drink. If you don’t, you will feel the vibe of being unwelcome. My partner lost his backpack after he left it outside to dry. He went to ask the club lounge if anyone found it cos he really needed his backpack for packing. He was asked by one member of the staff if he had a million dollars in it. We found it very rude to treat someone who came to ask for help. Lastly wanted to do late check out and asked our butler if that was possible. He promised not to worry and he would take care of it. Of course we tipped him but didn’t turn up or answer our messages on our check out day. That was the only time we needed his help and he was very unhelpful. Overall, we are very unhappy and uncomfortable during our stay just because of poor staff service.

My husband and I came here for our honeymoon. This is my second time returning to this resort. The first time I couldn’t say enough good things and was very pleased with my stay. This time (5 years later) we were extremely disappointed in the resort. We booked a swim out room on the adult side, but when we got there we were told that we booked on the family side and were told that if we wanted to be on the “club” side (adults only) that we would have to pay an ADDITIONAL $50/night after already “upgrading” our reservation online. I got a little frustrated and after expressing that, they moved us to the club side. We were then showed to a waiting area and had to sit there for 20 minutes before our butler Fransico came and got us. He was nice, but over the duration of the trip we met a bunch of other people who had different butlers and they were all doing such nice things for them. The only time we saw Francisco was when we were walking into the breakfast buffet, I guess they had him stationed there as well and every time we saw him he looked like he was surprised to see us. Our friends were getting romantic baths, one on one dinners (when I asked Francisco he told me in order to have that with my husband I would have to pay $150 more). Their butlers were checking in on them. Ours just said hello and then as he saw us checking out he must have realized he neglected us and he asked us to write a nice review. Unfortunately, he did not provide us a good experience. Another thing, unless you want a bunch of random people who are not employed by the hotel walking around putting birds and monkeys on you, you should probably go to a private resort. At first we thought they were only on the beach but they ended up inside the resort and walking around bothering us and other guests. The resort puts banners up on your door for returning guests, anniversaries, honeymooners, birthdays, etc. We were returning guests AND honeymooners and they didn’t do any of that for us. May not seem like a big deal but it makes you feel like a customer who is not valued. The staff is so overworked. We’ve gone to breakfast, lunch and dinner and have had the same wait staff for all three meals in the same day. Sweating and tired, but still smiling. The highlight of our trip was at the swim out bar. Maria and Gabriel made us feel like family. Also, Fernando and Michael with the pole dancing and the water bikes were amazing! Overall, if you can crack the nut and spend an extra few bucks to stay somewhere nicer, I would definitely recommend doing so. We stayed 9 nights and were truly disappointed. The food is also a bust. We will not be returning.

rWas looking forward to this holiday as has been a hard year and mostly the reviews have been sooo good but sorry didn't live up to these reviews. Let me start with the good the hotel is kept immaculately clean across the board whether in the gardens or rooms or pool or restaurants. The staff are unfailingly pleasant and helpful(when they can understand you). The food though overall good don't bother with the steak restaurant as it is like eating leather sorry guys the buffet however is very samy and I probably wouldn't grade it as 5* it was plentiful though frequently cold. we were booked into the colonial club as did not want to cope with children running around yes worth the upgrade but the butler not worth the effort could never find him when we needed answer but the butlers in the club lounge were soo helpful and please don't miss the lounge it is were u will find the computer section and also nibbles if u need any extra and also plenty of bottled water . Rooms next we had booked a twin but given a double and as we were unwilling to wait 12 hrs post arrival for the POSSIBILITY of a room change I spent the rest of my holiday on a camp bed. Not great as i already have a bad back. Be aware as well as the dampness in the rooms can make the floors very slippery and also clothes smell damp. Bars missing from shower shelves and loo roll holders broken and holes from previous holders still there. Our 1st couple of mornings housekeeping was a little hit and miss but after that I think we must have got our normal lady back sorry dont know her name but she was brilliant The pool as someone has said before is almost impossible to swim in as it is only 3 foot deep and missing multiple tiles some of which are very sharp and can cut feet. A big thank you to the pool bar guys always polite. It would also be nice to have some umbrellas as sun protection as well and the bali beds as not always practical
