We spent a lot of money on this holiday for a special occasion, I should have listened to my gut feeling and moved hotels after reading some of the comments on the Facebook fan page. I specifically asked for a quiet room way from the renovation works in block 37 but we were put in the next block and the noise was unbearable, not only from the workmen but the loud nightclub music that they were blaring out to drown the noise out (this is finishing on 20th Sep). We asked to move rooms, which was done but took 5 hours to sort out. The next room did not having building work but instead had a store room behind it which had trolleys being wheeled backwards and forwards all day and in to late evening some nights, depending on what entertainment was going on. Also for the first week there was a very noisy tractor/digger going up and down from one end of the resort to the other delivering large bags of cement or plaster all day long. We couldn't be bothered to waste another day complaining so we just got on with it. A few days in to the holiday the hotel management decided to bring in reservations for all the A La Carte restaurants again this was not the holiday we booked with Tui all those months ago. We personally thought Klay Talay was the best restaurant for dinner and service, Arrecifes was the best for breakfast and Sandwicherie the best for lunch. Service was a bit hit and miss especially at breakfast. My husband had an upset stomach for 4 days during the second week. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in and the pillows were great too. The mini bar was a bit of a struggle to get filled despite tipping nearly every day and most days he didn't do it until 5pm to 7pm. Nearly every afternoon the Premium Swim Up bar had a group of drunk loud guests taking full advantage of the all inclusive drinks, ok so it was their holiday too but not what we wanted. We had no warning from Tui about the building works or stomach bug that is going around. And neither the hotel or Tui warned us that the reservation system was coming in. We wanted a quiet relaxing holiday but the hotel and Tui did not deliver. The best thing about the holiday was the Premium Cabin on the flights.

We returned to the EDSS for our first wedding Anniversary after spending our honeymoon here last year. It’s still a fabulous place, the only difference is this year the restaurants had to be booked in the evenings. This wasn’t a problem as you could book three days in advance. The self serve restaurants didn’t have to be booked except for the gala dinner evening. We just went to our concierge and booked for three days. When we didn’t feel like booking we ate in the seaside market or arrifices self serve restaurant. We didn’t do room service but it’s available 24hrs. We stayed in the premium block on the palms side (British side), once again the rooms are lovely. Bright and airy and spotlessy clean. The beds are really comfortable with fab pillows. The maids work hard cleaning them daily, the fridge is re-stocked daily with water, beer, fizzy drinks, and snacks. Then in the evening there is a bed turn down service. The premium pool is great, it has a swim up bar. We never struggled to get a sun bed. There are also swim up rooms if you want one. I emailed the guest manager Alejandro before our visit as I needed to book Klay Talay for the day after we arrived and I wanted a chair in the shower. He emailed me back promptly and put everything in place for when we arrived. The restaurants are all great, our favourite was Klay Talay which served beautiful Asian food. The Creme brûlée was to die for. Our next favourite was Mia Casa which served Italian. For lunch we went to either the beach bbq or the Sandwicherie. Breakfast we went to Arrifices. The waiters were all outstanding in all the restaurants whether it was self serve or being served. Nothing was too much trouble. The bars were great, from our swim up bar in the premium pool or the 4th floor bar (this was on the American side and was very lively) or the main guacamayas bar where they had live shows. The cocktails were amazing at all the bars. I would like to finish by naming a few staff that stood out to us the most for their amazing service.. Firstly Asarias our waiter in the Sandwicherie at lunch time and Arrifices for breakfast. He was our favourite waiter last year and again this year. He remembered us from last year and went above and beyond to make sure we were looked after. Yahaira was the hostess in the Sandwicherie, she always made sure we were seated where we wanted. Then there was Ebersain who was our pool bar tender and Martha who was our pool waitress, both made sure we were never without a drink of our choice. Then there was Tiburcio (we nicknamed him Mr T) and lizbeth who were at the premium pool last year, they were both in Guacamayas this year. They also remembered us from last year and gave excellent service again. Finally thank you to Alejandro for putting everything in place for our arrival. The beach was as lovely as last year, the seaweed was miminal this time. It was a lot worse last year ( they worked really hard to keep it clean) there was always plenty of sun beds and Bali beds available. Overall we loved it again this year and hope to return for another fabulous two weeks soon......

Resort spotless throughout the staff work very hard to keep this place up to standard best chill out holiday I’ve had in a long time. Cocktails and even the beer was proper alcohol all restaurants served amazing food and amazing service right down to housekeeping even room service was excellent in service and food. This was our 4th stay at this resort and have always loved every minute, but things are starting to change in order to cut costs. You now have to book the al cart restaurants, which not only reduces availability, but also means you have decide what you want to eat days in advance. We don’t like to clock watch on holiday and missed dinner a couple of nights as got chatting to people in the bar, this would never have happened before the booking system was implemented. Now no al cart breakfast choice either. Quality and choice of drinks has been reduced a very basic example being only one draught lager available in bars when previous years every bar had a variety of canned lagers to choose from. On 7 out of 14 nights we had to complain in order to get our mini bar restocked. Apparently the hotel has a new manager, who is clearly trying to save money. Resort is paradise and staff are the best I have ever experienced, but sadly due to the cost cutting changes we won’t be returning
