Fantastic one week tropical escape at The Fives

Chelsea C (Edmonton, Canada) on Apr 20, 2024

Just returned from a week long trip at the Fives with my husband and all I can say is WOW. Food - I can say that the food at this resort is hands down the best I’ve had at any Mexican all inclusive. The options are endless - good variety at the buffet, Thai, sushi, French, Mediterranean, Mexican (of course) and my personal favourite, Italian were all great dinner options. The breakfast buffet was fantastic and the tacos by the beach were to die for! Rooms - we stayed in a basic deluxe room. Rooms were spacious and had every amenity needed. Beach/Pools - The beach was beautiful. Is it slightly rocky, but that didn’t bother us in the least. They have workers cleaning up the seaweed in the morning and lots of people were enjoying swimming in the ocean. The pools at this resort at plentiful - there’s an infinity pool, kids friendly pools, adults only pool, so you never have to walk too far to get to a pool close to your room! They were all warm and inviting. Activities/Entertainment - There were tons of activities for both adults and kids here. Nightly shows ranging from an MJ tribute show to circus performers and live talented musicians every single night! During the day, there were great fitness classes from NRG2GO that kept everyone moving and on their feet! The activity staff did a great job keeping patrons engaged and happy. Staff - IMO, the staff are what make this resort as excellent as it is. We were greeted by happy, smiling faces wherever we went and everyone was so amazingly helpful and kind. First class service! I would recommend this resort to anyone wanting to spend some time in Mexico - particularly families and wedding parties. We can’t wait to go back!

Not an all inclusive place at all ..

Dreamer21139604359 on Apr 20, 2024

The facility is nice but I had an issue with a few things. 1) there is not enough seating around the pools for people especially those with parents I had to sit on the utilitie box to watch my kid in the pool. Secondly there are not lunch restaurants near the kid friendly pools you have to go all the way to the beach to each lunch EVERY DAY. Then once you get to the beach there is no seating there because of wedding and too many bali beds that you have to pay for . My kid couldn't get fries because we didnt pay for a bali/beach bed it was terrible to keep tell a 6 yr old that we can't get fries right now. Then you had to pay for the premium icecream on site and somethings on the menu ( ridiculous for and all inclusive location ). Then the bellman Victory lied and told out transportation we were not there when we were. So we had to pay an additional $100 taxi to the airport. They do have an excellent kids club. They need to invest in and actually entertainment location and mosquitos treatment so everyone is not all on top of each other.

Hit and a miss

Kelsey J on Apr 20, 2024

I will start with saying I always make the best of my vacations but want to leave with what I think is not great when you pay alot of money. In 7 days I have 3 hot showers, no toilet flush capability multiple time due to know water. Power outages multiple times in a day and one time ,another day. Was gonna ask for maybe a comped 3000 pesos Bali beach bed but someone else couldn't get a comp. It didn't ruin the vacation so was annoyed. The hits was the place was amazing, Rooms are incredible and people serve you so well. The food might be the best we have had, minus the lack of bacon unless you asked for it. I think the resort has so much potential, hopefully the infrastructure gets better.

Not on Par with the Hilton Brand

Landria H on Apr 19, 2024

Hotel room was run down. Bathroom fan had to be shut off as it was noisy. The bed was very firm and the wooden frame was noisy. There was a hole in the upholstery of the couch. We booked through Priceline and were given a room at the end of a very dark hallway. Housekeeping did a sub par job cleaning the room our first night. Some positives, Alfonso at the rooftop bar was warm, accommodating and inviting. The rooftop infinity pool was a nice feature and a cool place to hang out. Overall, not on par with the Hilton brand.

UK Traveler 2 Adults 1 Teen

NetSecNW (Huyton, United Kingdom) on Apr 19, 2024

**Long review** Travelled from the UK with TUI to 2 Adults and one 13 year old boy. Having been back in the UK and having had time to reflect I wanted to leave an honest review to try and alleviate anyone’s concerns that has booked the Fives or is contemplating coming to the fives. We nearly changed our holiday based on some of the reviews. I'm not going to discount any of the negative reviews as they are people’s opinions or experiences. What I will do in this reviews is write our experiences and work arounds for some of the concerns raised in other reviews. Accommodation Having booked a 1 bedroom suite and put into Villa 4 we found the location to be perfect, between the Plaza and beach. The room itself was great, very spacious and perfect for what we wanted. The décor was a little tired, but didn’t really bother us as it met our expectation. We read many times about how the hot water worked, turning the tap the right and even we got it wrong, which the maintenance staff quickly resolved after a phone call to the reception. Check the tap is on the right way. The cleaning staff and fridge stocker were great. Restaurants We had read lots of reviews around not being able to get tables at the al a carte restaurant and the standard of the food. Our experience was that if you got there for 17:30-18:30 you could pretty much guarantee a table, on one occasion we went later for our evening meal, we ended up having to get a buzzer for the Thai restaurant, our teen was hungry, so while we waited just went and got him some chips and nuggets in a take away bag from Flavours and then sat in the plaza for a drink. Seated within 45 minutes. Not an unpleasant experience as we just had a drink whilst we waited. Food The standard of food was generally quite high. If you want bacon for breakfast at La Brasserie ask the staff and they will get you some. Our highlight was the Italian which was a great experience and food was exceptional. If you are all inclusive make sure you ask for glasses of house wine as bottles are chargeable. One thing to go and try was the goat’s cheese and corn soup from the La Brasserie at lunch, it was amazing. Our experience of Flavours wasn’t great, food was bland and dry, but was convenient if you didn’t want to wait for a table or wanted to get snacks whilst having drinks. The huts down by the beach are a great spot for lunch if you don’t want to got to any of the restaurants. Tacos at Humo Y Vino in The Plaza are amazing. You will not go hungry, there is pretty much food always available through the day. Humo Y Vino opens around 10:30 for hot snacks, which was great after all the drinks! Pools and beds If you turn up later in the morning you will still be able to get a bed but probably not where you want or enough for everyone in your group. If you are willing to put a shift and get down there for 08:30ish you will probably get a poolside bed together. Queues for the drinks are generally quite long circa 10-15 minutes, but if you don’t mind tipping you can get the amazing staff to bring them to you. The Bali beds, although quite expensive, are a great experience which will allow you to leave and come back throughout the day and for the price you get a bottle of plonk (Wine or Cava) and a cheese and meat platter along with constant service for extra drinks. The infinity pools were great and full of fun and people enjoying themselves. The pools at the back of the villas, although a lot quieter is a welcome respite from the high energy that can sometimes be seen at the infinity pools. Beach The beach is stunning but the seaweed scenario depends on the weather. The staff are pretty much on it and try to clear it up as quick as possible. Going in to the sea is a little more difficult as there are quite a few rocks and if it’s been windy, you cannot generally see where they are. The pier is great and an easy way to see the blue waters and fish if you don’t want to go for a swim. Staff The staff are amazing and will always go the extra mile to help. Tipping is very much appreciated by them. We left the following tips: Cleaner: 200 Pesos every other day, Fridge Stocker: 100 Pesos for re-filling with soft drinks and beer Breakfast: 100 Pesos Lunch in restaurant: 100 Pesos Lunch at snack bars: 50 Pesos Evening meal: 200-300 Pesos Drinks at the bar: 20 Pesos Drinks at table: 20-50 Pesos Evening Entertainment The main evening show was ok, didn’t really watch it. We enjoyed the live music played in The Plaza throughout the evening, very nice to chill to whilst drinking. It can be hard to get a seat in The Plaza, suggest getting one as soon as you finish your evening meals. All in all, such a beautiful place with amazing wildlife (Monkeys, Coatis and birds). An overall amazing holiday. Would definitely visit The Fives again.
