Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Holiday Inn Aruba. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Beach was perfect. Towel hut staff and bellmen very helpful (especially Kyle and Tico). Marion at front desk too. We also loved the comedy show they offered, we didn’t know about it before arriving, it was truly excellent.

Spend a little extra and stay at RIU

Came with my wife for our first time in Aruba for our honeymoon and it wasn’t the welcoming we expected. I give credit for having a partial ocean-view but thats all. We werent all inclusive we almost spent around $150 for the meals a day. It took us almost 45 min to check in. We met other couples spoke highly of RIU so we had to check-out and get charged $80 for early departure. In the other hotel we were treated highly with respect. Bed had flowers and some love ballons. When we arrived at the room they called us and made sure that everything was fine with our satisfaction. When checking-out from HI I received a long list of bill which didn’t make any sense They were helping two guests at the same time on the front desk. This is the last time we will ever have a stay at the holiday inn Specially after what we saw at the other hotel and services. Holiday Inn - thanks for making our honeymoon so special

Just checked out of this place today....and what a totally abysmal stay! This resort benefits from being right on a very large section of Palm Beach....absolutely gorgeous stretch of beach with crystal clear blue water, white sand and very sort of beach service and activity you could want. Despite this wonderful location, my stay here was absolutely HORRIBLE. Check-in Check-in was a completely disorganized mess with different members of staff giving differing instructions about where to stand in the lobby to be in "line" for the next available agent. The result was confusion and anger as no one knew who was next and everyone was tired of the very long wait. Once we finally got to the check-in desk, the confusion continued and we understood why everything was taking so long - I have never been anywhere that gives you so many different pieces of paper, with an explanation of each. A separate key card, separate "charge card" (which each member of your party must sign), separate towel card (which each member of your party must sign), stay overview/confirmation (which each member of your party must sign), COVID information sheet, resort information sheet. By the time each was shown to us and explained, and we signed what felt like a dozen times, I think we'd been at the desk 20 minutes. Imagine how long this takes for a full family of 4!!! Resort As mentioned above, the resort benefits from a wonderful location right on one of the best beaches in Aruba. However, many of the facilities are tired and run down. Palapas on the beach must be reserved for your whole stay (otherwise there are likely none available) and there are far too few chairs/umbrellas around the pool. As a result you feel compelled to get up at the crack of dawn to try to get space at the beach or pool. One thing we were not particularly happy about given COVID was that we didn't see any wiping down of the lounge chairs between users, nor in many of the common areas (elevators, tables...etc). There was plenty of hand sanitizer everywhere and they were good about asking you to sanitize every time you entered the resort, but overall standards were not up to other hotels I have stayed at during the pandemic. Rooms The three "towers" appear to all be original, built in the 60's with no significant renovation. As a result you have VERY low ceilings, making for VERY dark and claustrophobic hallways. Rooms have been "refreshed" but it looks like paint has just been reapplied so many times there's a thick layer that peels in some areas, making for a very old look....which isn't helped by the popcorn ceilings that remain. The bathrooms have also been slightly updated, but still look a good 10 years old. Hot water often took a very LONG time and there is NO FAN in the bathrooms. You can see the toll the constant humidity leaves in this space. Beds were comfortable and there's a fairly new 48" (I think) flat screen TV in the room....that gets exactly ZERO HD channels. Welcome back to 1998. And don't even think about trying to get Netflix or any other streaming service here....see section on wi-fi. Wi-Fi I don't think I have had more abysmal wi-fi at a hotel or resort in the last 20 years. The only place you can get a relatively stable connection is in the hotel lobby (and even there it is pretty slow). I spoke with many guest and wi-fi in the rooms was consistently horrible. Often you could not maintain any connection at all, and when you could, speeds were under 1Mbps (the one time I was able to do a speedtest I got 0.47Mbps). DO NOT even dream about being able to do any remote work from here; I was lucky to be able to get emails if I went to the lobby or stood out on the balcony and waved my phone in that direction. I wouldn't have dreamed of trying to do a zoom call (or any app streaming in the room). Staff Staff we're generally one of the high-points of the stay. Other than the complete disorganization at check-in, people were generally very friendly and did their best to help. Where there are problems, they try to help but clearly have little ability for some issues. Wi-fi problems were reported multiple times and no real solution offered ("try resetting your phone"; "turn your wi-fi off an on again"). We also struggled on the first day as we arrived to no bath towels in our room. Repeatedly tried the "Housekeeping" button on the phone, which just went to a fast busy signal, then tried the "front desk" button which had the same result. Finally called the operator who was able to transfer us....but repeatedly got no answer. I could tell his frustration when I called several times needing to be transferred. We finally gave up and showered with our beach towels. Upon trying a 4th time later in the evening, the operator recognized us, and exasperated said "can I ask what you need from housekeeping?" After explaining he go ahold of a maintenance person who was able to bring us towels. Check-out Don't dare ask for a late check-out....and you can forget about anywhere to shower or freshen up if you want to enjoy the resort facilities while you wait for a later flight - they couldn't offer either here. For a "resort" I'm surprised they have no way to accommodate people that may fly after 12noon. Bottom line We would not return here again as there are so many other better spots to stay in Aruba. It's quite a shame as I think the Holiday Inn has one of the largest sections of beach and is built very close to the water....but they certainly don't do anything to capitalize on this unique benefit and it doesn't make up for the many service and other "misses" at this resort.

We just got back from a 7 day stay and it was wonderful! Food and drinks were good, pools and grounds were clean, room was clean and bed was comfy. We did the all inclusive for the convenience and would do it again. Our only issue was our room was not ready when we arrived - no big deal, we ate lunch and walked about the grounds - gave us a $50 food credit (we used it on food not in the all inclusive) when we finally got our keys. We will be back!

We have just stayed our 3rd time in the past year and love the staff and hotel! The room was clean, bed comfortable, and they followed the protocol for wearing masks with Covid pandemic. We went to Aruba Ray comedy club and it was hilarious. Many great places to eat nearby. Our favorite always being Seabreeze Restaurant at the Holiday Inn for amazing service and food. Thank you Jimmy and John for always giving us impeccable service! You are always appreciated! We always love watching the sunsets while enjoying our meal! Thanks again Holiday Inn staff! Look forward to staying again!
