Dreams Huatulco....Outdated 3.5 star resort!

The weather in Huatulco was amazing! We couldn't have asked for better. The Dreams resort is outdated and needs some serious revamping. The double beds have to go to be replaced by queens. The orange walls made the room dark and drab. Our room had a strong musty scent. The cleaners did a fantastic job of cleaning our room. The missing tiles in the pools should be replaced. It wouldn't hurt for the pools to be emptied and given a thorough cleaning either. The staff at the resort were hardworking friendly and gracious. Such kind people! They did not have their hands out expecting a tip, which was refreshing! Room service was fast and efficient. The food was very good for the most part. All the restaurants were great, with the exception of the Mexican. The desserts were bland and repetitive. The drinks were typical all inclusive, well watered down. We saw the entertainment a couple of nights and it was okay. Watching the hockey games with fellow Canadians was fun. The beach was nice but the waves were usually quite strong so not great for swimming, in our opinion. The towel police only came and took our towels once. We are early risers so there was a lot of chairs to choose from. We did see people ask for more chairs or umbrellas, and the staff were accommodating. We loved Huatulco for the people and beautiful weather. We don't feel we got our money's worth from what Dreams had to offer. It definitely is not a 5, or 4 star resort. It is a 3.5 at best.

Overall quite enjoyable, rooms were clean and in good condition. Great beach and food overall was quite good. Staff in all areas were always helpful. Not a lot of activities outside the resort but still worth getting out; the area is growing but still not an overwhelming tourist trap.
