I stay there for Christmas, food from ok to good. The pool is nice, beach was small, premises need maintenence, rain water came into our room from the door, hotel looks old but for the price is good enough. I might not return but i had a good time for Christmas dinner. Nice low-key resort overlooking the gulf. The food was good with some excellent choices. The staff were helpful & friendly. Beni in the main buffet was exceptional and helped us with our Spanish. We used this as our base to explore Mayan temples/ruins. Hope to return!

    All Inclusive and Beautiful Ocean

This excursion was booked through Carnival and our tour guide was so nice and well educated. The resort was beautiful and the staff was very friendly. We were the first tour bus there, so finding a place on the beach with chairs was easy. The buses that came after us had to find seating by the pool area, so I recommend booking early for the best seating by the beach. The beach was clean and the water was clear and beautiful. This was all-inclusive so our food and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) were included. The food was good enough for the buffet-style it was, and there was plenty to choose from. The drinks were good, and the bartender made them as strong or weak as we wanted. The pool and pool are were pretty and well kept. The pool was clean and had easy access with wide steps for entering and exiting. It was not overcrowded while we were there, and we had plenty of time to enjoy the resort and relax in and by the ocean.

    OVERPRICED

OVERPRICED HOTEL First the positive. Ocean water clear and beautiful. Grounds well kept. Pool clean. The rest is all negative. The room furnishings are old and basic. No working safe box. No extra towels. No ironing board. Rooms need to be remodeled. All the drinks are watered down, even the nonalcoholic drinks. Even the juice. All the meals are buffet style and are a NIGHTMARE. The nicer food items are never replaced once they are finished / gone. Even during the first hour of a 4 hour buffet. The is completely unacceptable for an all inclusive hotel. This happened on MULTIPLE occasions. For example, Saturday night Mexican dinner. The dinner was from 7 to 11. We arrived at 7:58 and some buffet items were already gone..... finished.... Never to be replaced. We asked the waiters and the management staff. We were simply told that it was finished and that they did not have anymore. This was the only dinner meal available on Saturday night. The hotel is OVERPRICED. We paid $140 a night. We will NEVER go back due to the extremely DISAPPOINTING buffet situation. This my WORST all inclusive hotel food situation experience.

We booked this four hour excursion on our cruise as Royal Carribbean is now doing 5 day cruises out of Galveston Texas and they go to Cozumel and Progresso. Progresso is the port for this area of Mexico. There is nothing to do in Progresso so they take you outside to other locations. You could do ruins but we were with a family with young kids 2 and 5 years old so they thought it would be better to do a beach excursion. The facility was very nice and you can actually stay here. They have room rates that we thought were cheap by American standards. We had a beach and pool to use for the time we were there and they have us a buffet lunch and free drinks. Yes you can over do the alcohol so be careful. The beach is nice and we didn’t find rocks so it was soft sand. They offer lounge chairs to use which made it nice to put our things down and relax. The place did have a gift shop but for the most parts it’s just beach and pool. It’s a good option for kids or people who don’t want to climb the Mayan ruins.
