    Hotel Underperformed But New Manager a Good Sign

    After I wrote the review below a few days ago, the hotel manager, who said he's been on the job at the hotel for three weeks, got in touch with me and seemed genuine in his commitment to customer service. I take his attitude as a sign that he will address the kind of issues that I raised in my review. ORIGINAL REVIEW Baha Mar doesn't measure up. Among the tell-tale signs were the following: --when asked to recommend a restaurant other than the one on the hotel property, the concierge struggled mightily to come up with suggestions. --when asked for the location, day, and time of a local farmers' market, another concierge first insisted that that there were no longer such markets in the area and only when pressed made a phone call and learned that there is one held on Saturday mornings two miles away. --a mini-bar that doesn't keep beverages cold and a guest services department that had to be called three times over several hours before the problem was addressed. --a gym whose attendants don't keep what are supposed to be bowls of complimentary apples and oranges stocked. --a gym that charges $20 for a yoga class despite of resort fee of $30/day --a restaurant cashier who literally took six minutes to correctly ring up one small gelato cone. --a housekeeping staff that despite several calls over several hours didn't clean our room until 4 PM --loud speakers in the front of the hotel that play music late into the night so loudly that it can be heard on the upper floors of the hotel. (Hotel management, did it not occur to you that some people prefer to sleep with the windows open?)

    The hotel in general very good, restaurant options, swimming pools in excellent condition, very nice beach.The only negative observation in general, that consumption ends up being high due to prices, plus gratuity and tax. I understand that this should be the case, but I would believe that if they achieve prices a little lower, it would improve the consumption of families in general.

    Beautiful resort with above average amenities. You won't run out of things to do here! Food and beverage is pricy though, so be aware of that before you go! Otherwise, a great choice for vacation spot

    We love this place, beautiful! But I will mention two things to be warned about. 1. The front desk does not seem to know which rooms have full balconies. This has been the same problem the past three times we visited there. This year, they were very apologetic and took a long time to tell us that they couldn't give us a room with a full balcony, and when we walked in the room, we had one! 2. All three times we visited there, we've had other people's charges show up on our bill. They are very nice and they don't give you a hard time about removing them, but monitoring my bill and spending time at the front desk is not something I want to do on vacation.

    So the positive first. Great hotel from a comfort and amenities perspective if on vacation. Beautiful scenery, clean, excellent choice of food. Bedroom very comfortable. Beach, pools etc wonderful as is a lap pool and fitness center. Can't fault any of that. However I was not a tourist but came to a conference. There was no business center!....only one computer to publically access in the concierge desk. It was not working on the one day I needed it rather than my phone. Also after checking out I had to wait 3 hrs. They barred me from walking the grounds because I had given up my room key...nonsense after spending over $2k during the stay. I realize the money is in tourism but take a wider view. I expected more from the Hyatt
