We stayed at AKL for 10 nights in April. The hotel is beautiful and has a lovely atmosphere. On arrival we were taken straight up to club level concierge of the 6th floor. The welcome we got was a great start to our holiday. We really enjoyed our stay on club level. The lounge was clean and well stocked. We never struggled to get a table and it was a nice place to relax with a drink at any time of day. Our boys loved the boys pool and spent many hours playing in there. The Savannah view room was also a highlight for them. They got to see many animals wondering about. The transport to and from parks was never an issue for us. We used the app to see when buses would be arriving at the hotel. It seemed to be very accurate. We had an issue with a bus breaking down at the hotel but we were given an extra fastpass for the inconvenience. My only moan would be about the work being carried out. Even though we were aware that there would be work before our holiday nobody at the hotel said anything at check in or throughout our stay. Would have been nice to have someone check in with us. On several occasions the noise was unbearable and we could not stay in our room and relax. I just think we were probably just unlucky with our room location. Overall we would highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent place but with some important and annoying details

The hotel is faboulus. The atmosphere and outfit of the lobby, of our room, the playground, the swimmingpool, the sawannah view were really gorgious but there were some really important issues. First of all we have put out on the door the “Not now” sign because our 4 and 5 years old son were taking a nap. The hausmaid did not enter our room but she has called us. It was very annoying. We have spent in our room only 2 and 1/2 hours (from 1 pm until 3.30 pm) but the cleaning staff missed making in order our room. The second issue was that in the very early morning we could not sleep sometimes if people in the neighbouring rooms had showers or used their toilets. The noise of the shower and the final noise of the toilet were audible so laudly that it was really disturbing. The soundproofing of the rooms is very, very poor. The first buses started at 6.30 am. that is why some guys had showers etc at around 5.30 am. already. Result of old and poor constraction work. And one more thing. If one would like to start with the extra magic hour from the very beginning there is no chance to have breakfast beforhand. The Mara start at 7 am. but some hot dishes are not ready yet. The service is so slow that only the very first customers have the chance to finish their meal on time. Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Epcot are at least 20 minutes with bus from that hotel. Getting to the gate from the busstation takes 5 minutes, bag check, security screening, magic band controll take also a lot of time.

Me and my family stayed here 6th April until 14th and are now currently at a universal hotel for the second week of our holidays. All staff at the animal kingdom lodge were polite and helpful. Lobby area with the fire pit is gorgeous. The shop was better then shops in the animal kingdom park for gifts and amenities. Pool area nice, kids loved it. Room - we had a Savannah room and it didn't disappoint, only animal we didn't see were zebras from our room. We had 2 queen size beds which were very comfy, no noise from any other rooms. We only ate in Boma for breakfast, very expensive as we weren't on a dining plan, but worth it at least once. Now we're at universal, even though we're having a great time I actually miss the animal kingdom lodge!!

First stay at AKL was about 9 years ago. We have stayed at other Disney resorts over the years but found our way back to AKL this year. First, upgrade to the savannah room. It’s worth it! Also, they have fantastic on site restaurants, pool and activities. I still think it’s one of the largest pools out of the resorts. Also, eat at Boma at least once! Breakfast and dinner are great! Easiest park to get to from the hotel is animal kingdom obviously, so if you need to transfer busses to get to another resort that’s your best bet. The rooms are beautiful but the sleeping area is a bit tight(bunk bed room). There are not many electrical outlets, which you don’t pay attention to until you have 4 people looking to charge phones. Shower/tub area was small, door opened directly onto toilet. However, double sinks were a bonus! In room coffee pot could use a updated to Keurig from current pod system. Also, using a mini van from this (or to) was expensive since it’s so “far” away from other resorts/parks. Overall, great view, good food, and good Disney experience.

    Spring Holiday.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed here and it is the most wonderful hotel. From the first moment you arrive a warm welcoming atmosphere awaits you. The grand hall is stunning, the pool area is amongst the best Disney have to offer, the eateries are top notch Boma is superb and the Mara has a fab flatbread. The cast members are friendly and efficient. Overall well worth staying here, the ‘welcome home’ notice on the front door is truly how you feel staying here.
