This is without doubt the best hotel I've ever stayed at, waking up to giraffes and zebra outside your balcony is hard to beat. I highly recommend Sanaa and Boma for food but to be honest you can't go wrong wherever you eat

Great stay. Rooms clean and comfortable. Had a savanna view which made it even better. Jiko was one of the best meals I have had on property. Lobby was stunning to see. Wait for buses were not as bad as I thought they might be. Never waited more than 10 to 15 minutes. Bus rides seemed less crowded and shorter than expected also. Having stayed at Port Orleans Riverside last visit - buses made multiple stops at POR and were always crowded - AKL was great by comparison. Only small downside was construction. We had to take multiple elevator rides to get to room, but this was a very minor issue and looks like work will be completed soon.

Failed to meet its high expectation

Wessley on checking me in was great and took his time selecting me my room, due to my medical condition. Great service. The room was great and good view of the animals. They have recycling scheme. Shame only had a bag on two days and last day was disgusting has could recycle anything. Every day my room hadn't receive everything replaced. Had a coffee stain on blanket and for next week not changed. What really incensed me was on the day of the outage on Thursday. Not told so when returned from the party. Outside parts of the route from bus to lobby was complete darkness. Luckily no accidents. There was a board in the lobby but when got to room it was in darkness. Man on desk said there is a torch in the room and I asked how do I find that in the dark. Some people had chocolates and notes left in their room regarding this......no doubt the higher priced rooms. Left a letter for the general manager on the Friday and never acknowledged. On Saturday night spoke to front desk then met a great supervisor who went at lengths to understand my issues and offered a room change but for one night it was pointless. Being woken up every morning between 5-6am shows the lack of decency some guests have for their fellow man. It was like an heard of elephants. My advice it get a top floor room. Since they refurbished rooms, took out carpets and replaced with flooring noise travels below. I did receive compensation from the hotel, but at a deluxe hotel you expect perfection. Had this been a value resort then you could expect this, but not when you pay the money you do to stay here.

We stayed at AKL for six nights on the third floor. We had a savannah view which was really nice to see the animals during the day, and the room had been recently renovated. I appreciated all of the plugs and USB ports near the beds, and having a Keurig machine made it easy to grab some coffee in the morning. We also had some wonderful experiences with the Cast Members who deserve a ton of credit for everything they do day in and day out. There were some issues though which I’ll also send to Disney if I get an email survey. Although the room was new, the entire floor would press under your weight like it wasn’t properly affixed to the subfloor. When I spoke to one of the managers he said “we’ll check it after you leave as we haven’t had the time to quality check all the work the contractors have done.” ??? To his credit though, he did ask if we wanted another room and we declined as we had already unpacked. For the first three days I had to request housekeeping as they forgot our room, and a couple of times they forgot to refill the Keurig pods. We also randomly received an extra blanket one day that we didn’t ask for and a microwave another day. Wrong room. The most negative experience was when I called the front desk to cancel a same-day reservation. The woman goes (not kidding here) “I can do it but you will be charged a cancellation fee, if your son was in the hospital we would waive it.” Excuse me? I understand the cancel fee but to be told that my son had to be in the hospital for them to consider a waiving of the fee...just wow. She must have been having a bad day and took it out on me. Anyhoo, it’s a beautiful hotel but realize that you are not getting a luxury room experience for the price ($400/night for our room). You’re paying for the convenience. FYI - make sure you try Sanaa for dinner, it was a totally delicious experience. A+

Hotel as a whole was impressive with great attention to detail. We had a savannah view room which to start we thought wasn’t a great view (tree tops) but we had giraffes feeding directly outside our balcony most days! You can view the giraffes throughout the whole savannah regularly. The room was nice as you’d expect. Good selection of food and gifts also. Only downside for me was the price; but premium for December and savannah view. Bus times - longest journey we had was 25m (magic kingdom I think) They were regular and updated live on a monitor at the stops. And finally the Xmas tree was IMMENSE!
