Great for kids and families, Room for improvment

Cody F on Apr 11, 2024

Pros: Three rooms were next to each other. Room location was overlooking the water park. Food at the buffet (La Palapa) was overall excellent and the wait staff in the buffet was generally very attentive. Special thanks to Juan was wonderful. The resort has many pools available and many snack bar and bar areas to choose from. The Kids Club had daily activities for younger kids. We tried the French (Sans Souçis) restaurant and the Asian (Fujiyama). Cons: Check-in process seemed confusing and the concierge (Angeli?) was not very friendly or helpful. The room phone was not working. I reported it (via several ways and times) and it was never resolved. On our first full day, all of our personal belongings were removed from our table and chairs near the kids pool while grabbing lunch at the buffet. We were gone ~45 minutes. I confronted the concierge (where I located my belongings) with no help. I requested to speak to the general manager who arrived after what felt like a long time. The GM, Martin, was unsympathetic and made excuses. The reality is from others seated nearby who witnessed hotel staff remove my belongings is, another guest arrived that was clearly receiving preferential treatment. This resort does not have enough pool chairs and tables or beach chairs for all the guests. The pool lounge chairs all have individual signs saying they are NO RESERVATIONS. However, if you don't claim your chair, they will be gone by about 9am. The GM acknowledged this but offered no help or solutions. The resort excelled in some areas (like food quality), but suffered in many. Frequently, I found dirty plates laying around in various public areas. One morning, while walking down the stairs to breakfast, there broken plate pieces and garbage everywhere. The French restaurant (which requires reservations), was very busy and understaffed. The wait was terrible. I felt bad for the waiter who seemed to be trying hard but the service was terrible. The bar tenders were mostly ok, I tipped them frequently. The drinks were subpar. Mostly way too sweet with hardly any liquor. The micheladas were ok. In summary, great for kids, food quality was great, service and other areas have many areas where they could improve. Special thanks to the great staff members: Adrean (bell boy) Juan (La Palapa) Sara (hostess La Palapa) Andrea (hostess La Palapa) Julieta (hostess La Palapa) Isaías (Tiki Bar) Javier (Tiki Bar) Gudalupe (Kids Club) Thumbs Down: Angeli (concierge) Martin (GM)

Crown of PV

Ashley E on Apr 08, 2024

We had a really good time at the crown. Juan and Dani E were very good in the buffet and always got me my coffee and milk. Most of the staff are great. The beach can be busy with ppl selling things but that can be expected. Most of the staff speak broken English so brush up on your Spanish, although they love to help you learn to speak better Spanish. The children’s entertainment is fantastic with lots going on all the time and a zip line!
