    This is our second visit and we liked it as much or more than before. I try to give my honest opinion, good and bad. THE GOOD: Service excels. All the staff are very courteous and attentive. Servers at the preferred pool, especially Alba, are fantastic. Every person is friendly and kind. The staff is absolutely fantastic. We stayed in a beach front master suite. It was huge and so clean and just perfect! Miguel, our butler, was incredible! He did nice little surprises for us and checked in frequently. We cannot say enough about him. He left after our first week for a few days off, and his replacement was good, but not quite like Miguel! Restaurants were good to excellent. Portofino was the best. We ate there 4 times and the staff was lovely to us. The head waiter was gracious as was the hostess. Bordeaux was very good, as was El Patio. The steakhouse was good, not great, but still certainly a nice experience. The only miss was the Hibachi. It was just ok and multiple people — including my husband— got sick from it. Very sick! It may have been the sushi? It was closed before we came due to illness and again, people were sick. I think they need quality control in that restaurant. The resort is lovely. The grounds are spotless. Workers are constantly pruning and cleaning. The pools could use a bit more cleaning, but we always got a nice seat. The beach, too, is so pretty. It has palms, and is wide, with calm water and not tons of seaweed. Just a great, great resort. The guests were mostly middle-aged, although the younger crowd seemed to arrive right before Thanksgiving. Preferred bar is now open. Which we really like! And the best is THE QUEEN SHOW! We went twice! I have no idea where they found a Freddie look alike who actually sounds pretty good! And the band is great! Whoever plays Freddie needs to audition for a role in the US .... he would draw big crowds. His strut is perfection! Loved that show!!!! Other shows were good, but that Queen show is just fantastic and fun! THE BAD: small improvements could make this an even better resort. It is mostly management that needs to improve! First, there is VERY little entertainment in the evening. Please, people want to sit and listen to music before or after dinner with a cocktail. Of the 11 nights, probably only 3 had a singer. We were bored. It would cost so little to have a singer or guitarist at night. Second, the bartenders are not great. Carlos in the preferred bar was AWESOME! But he was there only 2 nights. Very few others could make a decent drink. And they kept changing bartenders everywhere. They need training. They did not even know what simple syrup was, or a lemon drop. Third, wait times for dinner exceeded an hour. And, as noted, there was nothing to do. No music at all. Waiting would be fine with some entertainment. Fourth, enforce your rules. There is no smoking at pools supposedly, but TONS of people smoke ...right next to you and even while in the pool. We complained and management literally refused to stop it. They even gave people ashtrays! Yet, we have notices on our room iPad that smoking is prohibited? If you have a rule, enforce it. Or designate a certain area of the pool as smoking so the rest of us don’t breath in horrible smoke. If they don’t enforce this rule, we may not return. IT IS THAT BAD! And cigars are EVERYWHERE. Also, a quick note on tips. This is NOT an all inclusive, tips are very much expected....from everyone. Certainly excellent service, such as our butler or a special table, or Alba who served us every day at the pool, deserves a tip. But every bartender, server, etc is expecting one. Management either needs to (1) enforce the no tipping as it’s an all inclusive or (2) just raise the price so we don’t have to constantly tip. These staff are your best asset! Reward them with fair wages! I would happily pay a bit more just so you don’t have to constantly have money in our pockets to tip. Finally, COVID. Contrary to the other reviews, we think the management is very slack. The staff do wear masks. But we never saw any pool chair or dining chair wiped down after use. People were constantly in very large groups, there is no social distancing and everyone is touching surfaces constantly with no disinfecting. It seems pretty clear that as soon as a few guests arrive with COVID, it will spread quickly here. The staff again try, but the management needs way tougher rules, enforcement of crowds, and disinfecting. So, we will be back, primarily because the staff and grounds are fabulous. We hope management takes some of these tips to heart.... please stop the smoking and up the entertainment! And thank you Secrets Staff!!!

    November 15, Trip To Secrets Cap Cana

    We just had the best week at Secrets Cap Cana. Beach is amazing and really beautiful with white sand and blue ocean views. STAFF MADE THE TRIP FOR US!! I cannot say enough about how you will feel like royalty. Drinks were amazing and plentiful in variety and top shelf. Hotel was stunning and rooms were nice and comfortable. I did love Himitsu for japanese, Italian at Portofino and Seaside Grill for lunch as well as Market cafe for breakfast. Unfortunately not all restaurants were open for lunch like Market cafe is normally and Oceana for breakfast, so that was a bummer for us. We did not like the food quality at Oceana for dinner and the crab cakes and asparagus soup were not good. We also didnt like the food at the french restaurant which we normally loved at other secrets. The ambiance in the french is too bright and weird. We were sat next to the kitchen and it was just an odd set up in general. French in Secrets Akumal is amazing as is Playa Mujeres. This french restaurant reminds me of a fake pop up place. Decor just wasn't in it for me. Overall, the Staff is what made our trip. ESTHER in the coffee shop was so amazing and really made our trip so enjoyable. She is a gem at this resort and showed me how to make a fancy cappuccino and made my boyfriend a special frappacinno every day in the afternoons. She is the best. WOLFEN (OUR BUTLER) treated us like royalty for the week. He would tell us each day he is at our service and send us the daily calendar of events. He was seriously a gift for the week. YASMIN THE HOSTESS at Himitsu was also a stand out this week. We were trying to get in one night without a reservation and she worked it out for us to sit at the bar and we had a private dining experience there with sushi and special things not on the normal menu. She alsways chased us down at night to make sure we were ok and ask us if we needed anything. She was really the best hostess we encountered there. MARTHA at the beach served us all day when we had a Bali bed which was fabulous and we loved her. Always smiling and bringing us lunch and drinks, she was truly great! We could go on, since there were so many employees that stand out, but these are a few that went above and beyond. You will not be disappointed if you go to this resort. Covid disappears here.

    This was our third visit to this Secrets. Everything was a little different due to Covid, but still had a nice time. They really did a good job with sanitizing, social distancing and mask wearing. Felt very comfortable. Luis was our concierge and did a nice job. Made our anniversary memorable as usual there. He was attentive but not over bearing. Santa was our pool server a couple of days. She remembered us from past visits. Other great employees were La Diva, Madeline in restaurants, Eudy, Carlos Pina and Amy in the restaurants and both of the omlette guys for breakfast. Didn't get their names. Overall, great resort and service. We'll be back again!

    We stayed last week arrived 11/13/20 room was preferred 4204 . We can’t say enough about what a fantastic time we had! We are older adults on a delayed honeymoon. We were treated like royalty the whole trip. All staff wore masks and took great care making sure everything was wiped down and sanitized we felt safer here than in Illinois. Our butler Miquel was fantastic, extremely professional and kind. He was there every day checking on us at our usual pool spot to see what we needed from him he also made sure at my husbands request champagne was delivered to the room daily and arranged dinner reservations. We love the honeymoon decorations in our room. Our favorite breakfast spot was Oceana and Carlos and Ruddy were amazing and efficient and also the hostess Yafriesal . Poolside we loved the Barracuda bar servers Maria, Stephany and Yocasta took great care of us. Always making sure we were happy. Shout out to Big Boy In the show lounge for the great seats with our friends. Shows were excellent !! Carmen in the lobby bar always pleasant also Yasmine hostess for Himitsu was awesome! Seaside grill was our lunch favorite and best steaks for dinner!! Thanks to Carlos and Ruddy again -The beach and the pool and the room were so clean and beautiful we definitely will be back next year! We have been to other secrets this is our third trip to Punta Cana and this Resort is our favorite!

    We are UVC members and second time visitors to Cap Cana. This AGAIN is our favorite AMresort. (With Breathless Riviera Maya second) the people and service at this resort is far above others. Everyone is friendly and willing to help. We loved having help from our butler, Miguel daily- he would surprise us with room gifts, beach gifts, and amazing dinner spots! We also appreciated the help from Alexis his partner! Our room was the best!!!! Bungalow swim out ocean front! Breakfast room service every morning with a few!!!!! The UVC club here is nice, but Nicoleta Is the most welcoming representative I’ve ever worked with. She’s genuine, friendly, and so so helpful. The coco cafe was my favorite morning spot. Esther remembered my name every day! She is SO kind helping me learn Spanish too! We also enjoyed Miguel Angel who is just so fun and welcoming with a warm smile daily. And Melvin is the BEST!!!!!!!!!! Going above and beyond without even being asked to- helped us even with dinner one evening and made us these yummy surprise drinks! The spa is nice- didn’t have a great explanation of the hydro therapy. But, the couples message was very good. And facility was clean We enjoyed the Hibachi/sushi best! Had the outside grill and it was so much fun! The food was better than in the states! We also had the private wine cellar room in the French restaurant. Was able to order off both menus and highly recommend the French onion soup and lasagna. Great private service in there highly recommend Lunch was great every day brought to us by the lovely servers at the beach! We had the same two women every day (on the non preferred side) buckets of water, drinks, shots, surprise drinks, and lunch delivered every day! Non stop! Fun pictures and energy too! They took care of our group of 9! Vanessa and rayneda (spelling??) we also loved la diva and the cat! So fun dancing with them and sea aerobics. Always good to bring us beach toys too such as corn hole Will def be back!!!!!!!!!!
