First and foremost, this resort is HUGE. If you are looking for a compact resort that is easy to navigate, this is not for you. However, the seclusion in the jungle-like area makes for a very fun experience. This resort is about a 25 minute drive from the Cancun airport. Every restaurant requires men to wear pants in the evening. Every. Single. One. There was one night where it wasn't required at the one of 6 restaurants on the property. Very inconvenient for those who want to stay at the beach all day and then go to a buffet in conservative beach clothes. The rooms are very up to date with the latest technology and the latest in energy conservation. It is worth the extra money to stay at one of the upgraded rooms on the water because they are MUCH closer to the beach. The pool is huge, making it great for those that do not want to be involved in the daily pool activities. It is essentially divided in three parts by the two pool bars. The beach wait staff were always in a great mood and always so happy to serve us. However, if you rent a pavillion on the farther sides of the bar, you can easily be overlooked. Even when the beach activities were happening, the beach was very mild. Not a party resort. Mostly people 40+ in age. Bars are open until 2AM and room service is all inclusive. There is no option for 24 hour food. All in all, I had an amazing and relaxing time. I just prefer something a little smaller and easier to navigate.

    One of the best!

We booked this vacation through cheap Caribbean.com for our 25th anniversary. It was one of the most relaxing and pleasant vacations we have had in a while. We stayed a week and were able to visit each of the restaurants and the food was artful and delicious at each one. As far as the restaurants, one thing we found confusing was that we were told we needed reservations for Ginger, the Japanese restaurant, however you could only make the reservation with your building concierge the day of. So the next day we went to the concierge around 10 AM and were told that they were completely booked! We were disappointed because that was our actual anniversary day and we had wanted to celebrate there. Instead we went to the Italian restaurant which was a great choice. The next day my husband lined up before 9 AM and the earliest seating we could get was 9 PM and he got the very last reservation! This seems a little bit ridiculous. Even more so when we went to the restaurant that night, we found out that reservations are only needed for the hibachi not general seating. That was never made clear to us and we actually could’ve eaten Japanese food there at a private table for two on our anniversary. Oh well! I would imagine we are not the only ones that this was not clear to, so hopefully this feedback will help them improve the communication. The resort is very environmentally conscious and we like that aspect very much. One thing that seemed concerning though was that Terminix would come by in the afternoon and fog the area with mosquito spray. One of the days my husband and I were enjoying the pool and before we knew it, the poisonous fog was hovering in the air and moving very slowly all around us. Apparently this is their rainy season and mosquitoes are a big problem. I expressed concern about the mosquito spray and was told it is non-toxic. I understand, there has to be some sort of balance, but I would have appreciated a warning about the spray so I could make sure I was not in the area. Furthermore, we all know that anything designed to kill insects will also eventually kill people or cause serious health concerns. Some of the workers I spoke with said that the spray gave them headaches. I wish there was a more humanitarian and eco-friendly solution for controlling the mosquito problem at this time of year. ?? If planning to vacation here, you may want to consider going in their dry season. Something we really enjoyed were the activities and exercise classes. Zyanya lead our TRX class two of the days and she was excellent! We weren’t sure what to expect, but we felt like in 30 minutes we got an excellent workout and our instructor was very knowledgeable and encouraging. She is quite an asset to the resort. In some of the other fun activities like tequila tasting and volleyball etc., we had Anahi and Rudolpho. They both made a great team, were hilarious and lots of fun. They also would recognize people around the resort and always greet them and make everyone feel special. Definitely enjoyed these two! A couple of the servers that we really liked were Louis and Jose at Terre de Mar. and Manuel at Olivo. Truly though, all of the waitstaff and workers around the resort were courteous and efficient. At some of the restaurants they had live music and that was very enjoyable! It definitely enhanced the atmosphere. While everything is inclusive and you don’t have to tip, American dollars are very much appreciated. I would budget about $20 a day min. We were impressed with how many couples return here and hope that one day we will as well! ??

    Can’t wait to go back!

We booked in privileged club which we enjoyed immensely because we wanted total peace of mind, and that is exactly what we got... excellent personalized attention from the staff, reserved bali bed on the beach everyday, excellent food, fresh lobster any night, pristine premises, large and comfortable room in golden section, impressive room service. One of our worries was the situation with algae at the beach. We were fortunate that it only appeared on 2 days out of 9, and with minimal accumulation. Our thanks to the excellent staff, Alex, Kathe, Mau, Jared, Daniel, Jorge and Marisol, just to name a few. See you in December!

Spent 5 days relaxing (sort of) after business in Mexico City. What an oasis of peace. Beautiful Hotel and grounds - we were situated away from the main pool area - which is quite lively and could be noisy if you just want to chill. The blocks around the meandering pool was quiet and relaxing provided you could get a lounger. Annoyingly other guests though it was Ok to leave towels to reserve loungers for the entire day while they were out ! Restaurants are all wonderful - particularly liked the Japanese and French but not one bad meal and we tried most of them. Buffet breakfasts were brilliant - and lunches, be prepared to gain weight ! You sometimes need to wait 20 mins but can take a drink in the square and relax. Evening entertainment was also very good - check out the days agenda so you can be prepared and not miss interesting events. On site snorkelling service is also good. The beach did have some of the dreaded algae/weed but they tried to keep it clean and you could still swim. Lots of trips to take from the location - we hired a car for 2 days and took ourselves to Chichen Itsa, Akumal and Merida ( have to say I wouldn't bother with Merida again). Driving is fine - but not particularly scenic until you get to your destination. Staff were helpful and attentive - would definitely stay again. Watch out for the band of Coatimundi in the grounds and very large lizards!

This is our third time staying at Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya and we love it!!! We were pleasantly surprised that most of the staff remembered us from previous years. They even recalled small details like our names and preferences. The staff are really what makes this resort extra special and a true pleasure to stay at. We have been to various all inclusive resorts but this is our preferred resort for all our future trips to Mexico because they over exceed the following elements: service, food, drinks, entertainment staff, wait staff, resort facilities, pool, and beach. When we are here we know the resort will be beautiful and we can just relax and enjoy the great food and drinks. All the staff are extremely professional and friendly. I really enjoy interacting with the entertainment staff which is fun and lighthearted. The entertainment staff is more personable then other resorts. Things We Like: *No time share pitches *No hassle with beach towels *No restaurant reservations needed except for Hibachi (Men are required to wear nice dress shoes) *Breakfast and lunch buffets are awesome with nice Mexican dishes *Various nice restaurants for dinner *The rooms are clean with nice maid service *Large pools, nice large beach, large and beautiful grounds *Eco friendly baby turtle program- they protect turtle eggs in an enclosure. *Eco friendly touches such as glass water bottles and no straws unless requested to reduce single use plastics. *Fun activities with entertainment staff *You can decide if you want a quiet beach or pool day or fun and chatty day with music depending on where you decide to hang out *Nice bars *Less mosquitos than other resorts in the area *Tap water does not have a strange odor *Rooms for changing clothes and taking showers (great for later check outs and early check ins) *Music Music Music- great music during the day and in the evening there are different types of live bands each day. I would like it if there was more Latin music though. List of Staff Made our Stay Special: (** Staff that remembered us from previous years) L'Alsace Restaurant- Delfino the Chef checked in with us and talked about his amazing menu last year. His menu and food are still amazing and we love going to his restaurant every night! Abigail is a very nice hostess that greets us with a smile every time. Jesus and Miguel are great waiters Teresa is a nice waitress Ramon is a fantastic Manager that makes us feel special The cello musician adds a really nice touch to the restaurant. Mar & Tierra Buffet Restaurant- **Luis is an absolutely exceptional waiter- he remembered my name and said hi immediately. Beach Bar: **Joel makes the best drinks and is very nice and friendly. We would go out of our way to get drinks from him. Pool Bar: This year the bartenders at the swim up bars seemed overwhelmed. Perhaps there needs to be more bartenders at the pool bars. The Go Entertainment Team: Super fun - hardworking team Anahi Rodolfo Leo Lorenzo Daniels Fernanda Zyanya Edgar Carolina Luz Bryan Jared Beach: Jared - is a nice beach site manager. He makes us feel special and took very good care of us. The resort should have rules for cabanas though because on multiple occasions groups of loud people would share a cabana and smoke and spoke loudly which completely ruined the relaxing and nice atmosphere. The cabanas should be for couples that want a relaxing quiet and romantic day at the beach. We highly recommended Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya. We will definitely return next year.
