If I could give this hotel 0 stars I would. Upon arrival, extra beds were provided to our party by a worker dragging an old mattress into the room and leaving it on the floor. While our room appeared updated and clean, it was evident that there was water damage and mold as it was musty and hard to breathe inside. When asking for sheets and blankets for our beds we were told they had none so I slept with a towel as my blanket. Once blankets were found we had to follow the front desk worker into the basement of the parking garage where he gave us blankets in a plastic bag. We were also at this hotel when the earthquakes stuck Puerto Rico and the hotel had no power in the rooms while all of those around us had generators to cover the entire buildings. Once the hotel lost power we were told we would need to pay to borrow even a flashlight from the front desk. It is also evident that this hotel is under construction, and has been for many years. Some areas of the hotel are renovated while others are downright gross. Some of the hallways has water damage from the hurricane and the elevator lobby’s looked like something from a horror movie. However after all of this, the once thing I enjoyed about this hotel was the continental breakfast that they served every morning until 11am. Also enjoyed playing games of Bingo by the pool. Overall, I would never stay here again.

Mare St. Clair in a state of disrepair.

Incredible how a beautiful location can be mismanaged and allowed to fall into a state of disrepair. A completely disappointing start to a vacation, to see the room and hallways, which the owners paid an assessment for, has yet to be renovated. To walk into a room and have no towels, soap or supplies available. To have a staff shrug their shoulders with no answers because management doesn’t allow for them to take pride in their work. This is a bait and switch, and there doesn’t appear to be any solutions in sight. Guest beware.

    Re think staying here!

.Maria at the front desk was very helpful and updated our requests for a view to the ocean (great location) and organize one room for the two week stay and would not have to move at the end of each week. We also paid for one extra night due to flight changes and Maria said she would fix everything. We visited this hotel 4 years ago and it needed a total upgrade then. After the hurricane it has gotten worse. Concrete missing and cracked on outside walls, looks like its falling apart. Lobby, pool areas all redone but that is where it stopped. We returned in afternoon only to be told room not ready and come back later, we would also have to check out after the first week, move rooms and recheck in, for all three bookings. This lady was condescending and of no help even after we had told her we had spoken with Maria. We requested Maria and told "not available". We waited untill Maria was available. Maria is wonderful and arranged everything we requested . Unfortunately once we got to the room not a happy site. No welcome information, no towels, no kitchen towel or wash cloth, no hangers. Room is lacking in cooking utensils, pots and pans. No coffee for fist morning etc. Several attempts to get all these things one at a time required.. Hallways, common areas, rooms all a mess. All carpets heavily stained and everything is worn out, outdated with mold in our closet on shelves. Maria got us a room safe one we discovered one was not in the room Waisted our time share trade for sure!

My friend and I stayed at Mare St. Clair Hotel for 6 nights. The hotel is super close to the airport and is about a 10-15 minute Uber ride to Old San Juan. While it is currently under renovation, the construction did not seem to interfere with our stay. Upon arrival we were semi-harassed by multiple concierge/trip booking staff who asked a lot of questions. I understand it’s their job, but I think they should wait for guests to at least check in before going too crazy. That only happened on the first day. The pool, pool bar, Cielo Bar and lobby areas were recently renovated and very nice. My friend and I spent a lot of time at the pool and there always seemed to be enough seating and space in the pool. The only downside was that there were frequently not enough beach towels for everyone. The hotel has a card system where you exchange your card for a towel and vice versa. Good idea but not well executed. Some of the guests who have condos/time shares at this hotel said that not having enough towels happens “a lot”. This is also true for towels in the beach area. The hotel is situated right on the beach, which was really nice. There is usually music playing in the afternoon and a decent amount of people show up to enjoy the sun/water. There are also beach chairs to rent and towels (if they are in stock). The continental breakfast in the restaurant was just OK. I honestly wouldn’t pay for it and either pick up breakfast foods at the grocery store down the street or go out for breakfast. There is a small cafe that is open all day and into the evening. They have a number of different beverages, snacks and sandwiches. I really enjoyed the iced coffee and smoothies. However, they tend to run out of things as the day goes on, so be sure to ask what is available when ordering. As for rooms, some rooms have been renovated, but we stayed in a standard room. There were 2 beds, a small kitchen, tv, table, vanity room, bathroom, and balcony that partially overlooked the water. It wasn’t anything fancy but there was plenty of space and the beds were comfy. The cleaning crew did an excellent job every day. Overall, I thought this hotel was good. Is it worth paying the price per night as listed? Probably not in its current state, but I think once the renovations are done and there are enough towels to go around, it will be good to go.

DO NOT STAY HERE! First, the rooms and floor is under construction. The floors were unaceptable. The room was not what you see on the website. Completly outdated!!! See pics below. We asked to change our room and ee got another one that was the same or worst. Front desk employees were combatant. We even asked for ice to take it to the beach (for drinks) and they denied it downstairs even thou you are paying a resort fee. Really! Customer service was horrendous (you can see it in their faces). Specially, the two female employee at the cafe bar (very combatant). Also, they dont help anybody with your luggage when you arriveor open the door for you. Moreover, the beach was dirty, they dont even clean the seaweed. From now on, Im choosing AIRBNB.
