We have just returned home yesterday having spent 3 weeks in Orlando, the first 9 nights being at Cabana Bay and then the last 12 nights here at POFQ. We were travelling as a party of 6 and so we had two rooms. My husband phoned and spoke with the hotel a few days prior to our arrival to request interconnecting rooms. We arrived at around midday and were delighted to find that not only had our request for interconnecting rooms been accommodated but both of our rooms were also ready. The lady that checked us in was so welcoming and took the time to explain everything to us especially around how the dining plan worked. The children were also given coloured beads to put around their neck and coins to throw in the wishing well which they loved! We had two rooms on the 2nd floor of Block 1. We had paid extra for a "Garden View" however if we were to return again, I would just take a standard view room as the motel style layout means that once you are in your room, you can't really see the view anyway and so it felt like we had paid extra for nothing really. POFQ is a truly magical resort and whilst we enjoyed our time at Universal, as soon as we arrived at Disney the magic truly began. The resort is very small and so nothing is very far away. The communal areas were always immaculately clean and all of the staff without exception were absolutely lovely. There is only one bus stop and the buses were very frequent, we seldom waited more than 10 minutes. I also downloaded the lyft app on my phone which we used a few times when we had dinner reservations at other hotels as it would have been too much hassle to take 2 buses. We never paid more than $15 to get anywhere on site in a Lyft XL. We ate breakfast each morning in the food court and also had a couple of other meals there and we were very impressed with the quality of the food. On one evening, we were so exhausted that we got one of their family style take aways which was great value and included a huge pizza, salad and 6 large breadsticks all for just 2 x quick service credits but it would easily feed 4 ( in fact all of the portions for everything were huge!) The pool was a little smaller than I imagined it would be ( very clever camera angle used for the online photos!) however nonetheless we really enjoyed it. With 3 small children, the presence of several very observant lifeguards was a definite bonus. A couple of small observations: 1) it would be useful if one of the coke freestyle machines could be installed by the pool to be able to refill your drinks without having to dry off and get dressed to go into the food court 2) The splash zone for little ones is lovely however the maximum height restriction is 120cm which seems very low. My not especially tall 5 year old was only just small enough and his 2 sisters ( 8 and 9) were not allowed to play with him in there when frankly they would have been doing no harm whatsoever. It seems very harsh that you could turn up with a 5 or 6 year old who could very easily be too tall to play in a children's area which would be very disappointing to them as it looks very enticing to little ones. We were offered $10 per night if we opted out of housekeeping however we declined, thinking that it would be nice to have housekeeping. If I had my time again, I would definitely opt out as between the 2 rooms it would have been $220 and in reality, the housekeeping was the only part of our stay that I wasn't impressed with. The maids only ever seemed to do the bare minimum, it never seemed that they had actually cleaned anything . Our hair conditioner, coffee, milk and cups were constantly not refilled which was disappointing given that they were only coming in to pull the beds over, replace the towels and re-stock coffee etc. It's only that we had 2 rooms that we were able to pinch things from one another ( for example on a couple of mornings my Mum had 7 cups in her room, we had none! )..We did complain at front desk and that day a Housekeeping supervisor came to check the room however the following day, no milk again!!! It is also very annoying when you get in the shower, wash your hair and then there's no conditioner, surely they should have a checklist of what needs replenishing every day. The boat to Disney Springs was such a massive bonus to staying here and like the buses, the boats were very reliable as well. It was just fabulous to be able to hop onto the boat to go for dinner in the evening. The shop in the hotel is large and stocks a good variety ( at hugely inflated disney prices!!) and it's open until 11pm. My kids also enjoyed the arcade which was surprisingly reasonably priced! I have never stayed at any other resort however even when visiting some of the posher hotels for dinner, we were still very pleased to return to the serenity of POFQ. We would love to be able to return and would highly recommend this lovely resort, just opt out of housekeeping! Oh and one other thing. The beds here are very very high. The hotel does provide bed guards if you ask for them - we would never normally use them for our 5 year old however the height of the bed and the hard floor would have been a bit of a disaster if he had fallen out!

It has been almost 20 years since my last visit but Disney's Port Orleans - French Quarter never disappoints! It has since been renovated but it still maintains what we loved most about it then! The ambiance & size! 'Though She Be But Little She Is Fierce' aptly describes this gem in the sprawl of 30,000 acres that is WDW! The lovely riverside trails and initimate magnolia or tree lined streets make for a calm walk to or from the pool, boat dock, bus stop, or main dining / hotel areas. Despite it always seemingly full of guests, the staff and guests all seem to be happier here than anywhere else on WDW?! Maybe its the delicious beignets, or the ever helpful staff, but its a truly relaxing, unhurried place to stay. That said our room in bldg 7 was comfortable and we loved our stay and cannot wait to return! Our only room for improvement of note is the pool. We enjoyed it and the kids activities, but my daughter and a few of her new friends made while there agreed the slide could be better.

    Love it even more!

This was our 2nd stay at Port Orleans French Quarter. The major draw towards this hotel for us is the size of it, it is not huge and easy to get to the main food area, unlike most other moderate options. The boat service to Springs is also a huge reason we love booking here, we tend to end our day at Springs nearly everyday because of this boat option, even when travelling with our kids, because it makes it easy to come back too! And third reason: BEIGNETS.. totally addictive and now they are Mickey shaped ?? #bestsnackcreditever

We have just returned from a 5 night stay here and the hotel was brilliant. I loved the theme it is very picturesque. Being a small resort we were near to everything, we never waited more than 15 minutes for the buses to the parks and always got a seat. The boat to Disney Springs was lovely also. The bed is very comfortable with a huge TV. This is our first stay at a Disney hotel and will definitely be returning. We spent 10 days at a Universal hotel after our stay here and although it was ok it does not have the Disney magic we wished we spent our full holiday here.

    The best resort hotel !

We’ve just come home from staying 14 nights at Port Orleans French Quarter. This is our 16th visit to Disney and our 9th stay at this hotel.... we L??VE it. It’s a true family style hotel, just the right size, with only one bus stop and a boat ride to Disney Springs. The staff at French Quarter are so accommodating, from the concierge, the shop assistants and to the life guards, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are really comfortable and with free WiFi and adapter points it’s a bonus when charging up the phones for photos. The pool area has plenty of sun beds, is super clean and has a great water slide plus there’s a splash area for toddlers too, all safely fenced off. The food court has everything you’d need and the onsite shop has plenty of gifts, apparel and any necessities that you may need. I would highly recommend this hotel and we’re already booking again for next year.
