Smoke in paradise!

Lynne L on Apr 02, 2024

Just returned from a four-night stay at Blue Waters. We enjoyed it very much, with one exception: They do NOT have a no-smoking policy and the resort is heavily frequented by Brits, who appear to think it's fashionable to smoke (and smoke and smoke) in public. Arrgh! However, if you don't mind getting cancer, Blue Waters may be your place. Read on for pros and cons. PROS: A beautiful spot, rising up a rocky hillside from a beautiful beach, with another cove area replete with pelicans. Lovely, mature grounds and nice, if a bit worn and dated, decor (see cons, below). Food and service were excellent here! In fact, they surpassed a much more expensive luxe resort we went to after our Blue Waters stay. Food was plentiful, tasty, fresh, well prepared and ran the gamut from fun buffets (Bloody Mary bar at breakfast!!) to romantic candlelit dinners. We upgraded to a private house (half of Pelican Cottage) and it was stocked with snacks and booze. Wine was a fail, but it was a fail at the luxe property, too. The staff were incredibly friendly, sweet and fun. Everyone, even the groundskeepers. It was my 60th birthday and word got around, so I was cheerily greeted with "Happy birthday" everywhere I went. Staff also noted requests I had made in advance and made every effort -- successfully -- to accommodate. Not sure who gets the credit, but Blue Waters rocks in the service department. We had a concierge, Nicole, dedicated to help with out stay. What a hard worker! She even chased away particularly pesky smokers so I could enjoy our private pool without anaphylaxis. Give Nicole a raise! Overall, the people are Blue Waters' secret sauce. Each evening had live entertainment of a different sort, and we loved it. Very talented musicians that really added to the ambiance. CONS: Very few, other than the smoking. This is an older property, and many of the beachfront rooms date from the 1960s or 1970s. Some wear and tear, and the decor wasn't world-class, but it was good enough. The watersports shop needs some work. It seemed whenever we wanted to do something, it wasn't open, or all equipment was rented. Overall, though, Blue Waters is a nice place with great food and people.

Relaxing stay

gobrazilchacha (New York City, New York) on Mar 31, 2024

I have been meaning to write a review of our stay over Christmas. We had a lovely stay here which says a lot since I was with my sister in law and my husband’s family. The stay was very easy and the staff were lovely. The service was some of the best I’ve experienced in the Caribbean. I liked that the kids were able to play tennis and pickleball daily before heading to the beach. In a side note, they gave out cute bags to the guests as Christmas presents and my horrible sister in law took mine for her young daughter. The head of the hotel totally got it and worked hard to located another bag for me. Thank you. Yes I know it was a petty request on my part but it made me happy.

Amazing family vacation

Stacey F on Mar 30, 2024

This is our second trip to Antigua and first time at blue waters! We are in love with this place. If you’re looking for good food, amazing service, incredible kids club ( especially during a school holiday!) and pools, beach and spa look no further than here! It did not disappoint. I want to give a huge shout out to Ainsley and Abigail in the kids club. We have a 6 year old and honestly it made our holiday a true vacation! Our daughter couldn’t wait every day to go. On school holidays they did 3 kids nights so parents could enjoy dinner on their own! We will come back next year just for this! All the people working here honestly couldn’t do enough for you. The island is a special place!

Caribbean Paradice

mike w (Cockfield, United Kingdom) on Mar 28, 2024

My wife and I along with another couple spent 10 days at this hotel complex. We had never visited the Caribbean before so this part of the world was a new experience. On arrival we were met by Nicole who organised wet face towels, fruit punch and an Antiguan smile from everyone we saw and met. First impressions were what a wonderful and sumptuous complex. This initial impression did not waver during our stay. The rooms were very clean, well equipped with walk-in shower and separate bath, all possible amenities, which faced a tropical garden with an ocean backdrop. We all agreed we had found our true paradise. The restaurants, bars, pools and gardens were fabulous with staff incredibly helpful and pleased to see us. Three separate beaches with water sports and fishing/snorkelling trips as well as an abundance of shade where necessary. A large colony of Pelicans completed the scenario. Sonia cleaned our room daily with fresh towels both for showering and beach use. The bed was changed daily if required and turned down each night with fresh beach towels left for the following day. Too many other names to mention, however Owen, Sparkell, Clarissa and Gavi are just a few. Will we return next year or before, YES we will. Thank you to all at Blue Waters for making this a holiday of a life time..

Girls trip 2024

Abigail K on Mar 20, 2024

A little slice of heaven— staff is wonderful and welcoming. Our concierge Nicole has given us 5 star service. The property is breathtaking, quiet and we had the best day on the property owned boat excursion! It has been everything we had hoped for and more. We will be back!
