3rd Visit was not a Charm.....

Susan M (Georgetown, Canada) on Apr 15, 2024

To start.. this was our 3rd visit (2019/2022/2024) and it will be our last unless they make some big changes to food and their supply chain issues. We absolutely love the resort, you are not going to find nicer grounds, beaches or atmosphere. Our room was lovely (Building #13), though needed a very good detailed cleaning, it was in a great location and quite large compared to the other 2 rooms we've stayed in. The resort is set up to be very inter-active with other vacationers and we met some very lovely people from Canada/USA/England. Socially the resort is fabulous. We enjoyed ourselves and relax on the beach all week. Pro: Location/Weather/Room/Beach/Most staff very nice. Suzette at the Bar is the best, Ashley at the Bar always great, Delaney in the Topaz in a treasure, plus many more. Cons: Ran out of a lot of things constantly, Vodka, Tequila, Pina Coladas, Beer, Chocolate, Baileys, Various Liqueurs, Sweetener at coffee cafe ran out on Thursday-still none when we left Saturday, ran out of ice at coffee shop one night, no ice cream because freezer wasn't keeping it cold enough-not fixed during our stay, no bananas for 3 days and when I say ran out I mean ran out not replaced for the remainder of that day or even sometimes the next days. Even the water dispensers were constantly running out. The thing that got me most is the attitudes of some staff, if you asked if they were getting anymore more should I just wait an hour til you replenish some were "sorry we don't know" others were "we're out pick something else". The poor workers at the Aquabar were constantly running out of everything. I don't want my resort running out of anything period, this is not 4*. This is the only resort I've ever had this happen at other than Cuba and we all know they have issues. Whoever is in charge of the supply chain & replenishment has really fallen asleep at this resort and they don't seem to care because this isn't the 1st time hearing this. There are 2 things that are important with an ALL INCLUSIVE 1. Food 2. Alcohol. Now the food.....the quality & quantity/selection since 2019 has gone from a 10 to a 4 (in our option) and this is the main reason we won't return. Very little variety, one whole portion of buffet not used and they space things out to cover more area. Could I find something to eat, yes, did it meet my vacation expectation for $$ paid not even close. I eat better at home on a daily basis than I ate at the resort. I know this may sound like 1st World problems to some but I spent a lot of my hard earned $$$$ to come back to this resort. The short falls in our 2022 visit we chalked up to COVID but it seem that since people accepted those shortfall the resort has continued on with the same practices. Pre-Covid this resort was a 9.5 on everything and a whole lot cheaper. For those of you who continue to go year after year that's great and maybe a nice beach and the surroundings are what makes it work for you, and I'm happy for you, but I expect all boxes to be checked in order to get my hard earned $$ and unfortunately Pineapple Beach Club did not do this for us on this vacation. I was a defender of the Pineapple to the recent reviews of the problems like the ones we found, sorry but they were right. Sorry Pineapple I was one of your biggest supporters and have sent many people to your resort but not anymore. You need to do better.

Just Home from Second Visit, Waterview Rooms

Cherryg (Toronto) on Apr 14, 2024

Just returned from our second stay. We were in the Waterview rooms, which are super close to the ocean. I requested ground floor and that’s what we got. PROS: Room – older, but super clean. Showers hot and powerful. Always had more than enough towels. Bed was a little soft, but not so bad it was a problem, and pillows were comfortable. Air conditioning excellent. Never had a problem getting loungers at beach or pool area. The beach. What’s to complain about? Soft, soft sand, and beautiful. Staff are all wonderful and helpful. Special shout out to the lovely Anne Marie. Unfortunately, I forgot other names. Ever part of the resort that we saw was clean. Absolutely no complaints on the cleanliness here. Waitresses all charming and we didn’t wait long for coffee/water at any meal. FOOD: I am a picky eater, and I know that, but I remembered the buffet having more choices to choose from. There was a lot that I don’t eat. That said, I know I’m picky. The two meals we had at the Italian place were good. We were to eat at Pineapple one night but cancelled due to my husband not feeling well. Same with Orchid. We cancelled for the same reason. Not really a fan on the buffet in the evening for dinner. One visit to the Outhouse and again, I remember there being more choices when we were there before. The ribs at the Outhouse were EXCELLENT. Best I’ve had. I don’t know if they make their BBQ sauce, or if out of a bottle, but it’s really good. The food at the pool snack bar is pretty good. My favourite is the chicken burrito. It was to die for! Small, but good. We didn’t drink much so can’t comment on the cocktails. The wine I had at dinner was always fine. This is not a modern, luxurious resort. However, if you want a very comfortable, clean, friendly place on a beautiful beach, this is your place. Small enough that it’s super easy to get around. My one complaint/comment is that areas can be very slippery. I slipped the first night of our vacation, right in front of the steel band that was playing. My plate of food went flying everywhere. Anne Marie and Vincent cleaned up my knee which was bleeding badly, and bandaged me up (twice). The rest of the week I was very sore all over, (my knees are both still sore), and I’m thankful I didn’t break anything. I’m a little annoyed that Vincent (said he was Duty Manager that night), asked for my room number about 4 times while taking care of me, and said he was going to do something a couple of times. Well, Vincent, I’m still waiting. It’s not the point of getting something, it's the point I was told he would do something and nothing was done. I’m assuming a few bandages weren’t what he meant?
