Great stuff: 1. Most hard working staff ever: all the staff have worked so hard. We got the best services from bell boys, restaurant servers, reception staff, Kitchen staff and the manager (Juan ). We feel extremely thankful for their services. Please tip them well if you can. The Covid situation has great impact on their income. 2. Location: 15 mins away from the airport. Beautiful long beaches. There are workers who take care of the seaweed on the beach everyday to ensure that we have a clean beach. 3. Hobbie cat ( small catamarans) is free if you want to spend 30 minute out. For 1 hour snorkeling on the near by reef, 20 USD per person, I recommend this. The 2 gentlemen working at the hobbie cat booths are extremely nice. They kept close eyes on us when we were snorkeling. One of them actually was by my side when They saw that I’m not the best swimmer:) 4. Food: been to Cuba 4 times. I got the best food here compared to other 3 . Super grateful that even in covid time, we still can get good food and great variety. Please be aware that food is a very debatable topic in Cuba. 5. Social Distancing: this is something that out of the hotel control in my opinion. But there are things can be done that would make it better like : putting more signs to gently remind other tourists to respect social distancing. There is not hate here but definition of “social distancing” seems to be very different for Russian Tourists. I was a little concerned when I was lining up for the food in the restaurant and other tourists just simply cut the line and jumped right in front of me. Again, no hate, I understand that there is culture difference and rude + arrogant people are everywhere.

Very safe environment with professional Covid protocol

Having been here in mid-March just before Covid, we were happy to have Air Canada return us there for 3 weeks in November. The protocol during flight and testing upon arrival at the airport, mandatory masks at the buffet bar and in interior public rooms, tables and chairs disinfected before and after you sit down, etc., made for a very relaxing vacation. Staff are tested for Covid, wear masks all the time, inside and out, which is very difficult for gardeners and dancers, but they do it. The doctors walked around every day looking for any abnormal signs and taking temperatures of guests and staff. Any positive tests from the airport were taken to a central hospital and their families isolated at a separate nearby resort. They did everything they could, and as a result we really enjoyed ourselves. There's plenty of disinfection stations for hands, but bring lots of sanitary wipes and train yourself not to touch your eyes to add to your sense of security. Even when a guest doesn't wear a mask when they should, they are told about it, and at least you know that they have a negative test result. Everyone there has been out of work for 6 months or so, and are happy to be back and really do appreciate any practical gifts you might bring. My wife and I both would say that don't let fear keep you away from Cayo Coco -- we felt safer there than in our Canadian grocery store .. and it's warm.

I travelled alone and met 2 other solo travellers in line to check in. We pretty much spent the week together. The service here is second to none. I've been to butler service resorts and this place can keep up. The food was good. I'm not picky. The seafood was excellent and always a wide variety. I had an updated room and it was kept super clean. Very comfortable beds and pillows. AC worked perfect. Customer service here was fantastic. They looked after any request immediately. Kennier (custommer service) and Aniuska (yoga/entertainment team) and Tamara (bar/bookings) went above and beyond. The manager at this hotel is literally everywhere making sure things are #1. I've never encountered such a hands-on, involved and professional manager. The grounds are beautiful and if you mention that a light bulb is out on the path, they immediately ensure all burned out light bulbs are replaced. We had a windy week so not a lot of ocean time. The pool and sauna were perfect. Yes, a sauna in Cuba is lovely. The resort is not huge so it has a lovely at home feel about it. The staff everywhere are so wonderful. I will be back but plan to stay 2 weeks next time.

I travelled with my wife, and my daughter to Cayo Coco, and we stayed in Melia Cayo Coco for a week. When we arrived at our hotel we were greeted by all of the staff, music and dancers. We were overwhelmed by their sincerity and friendliness and this continued for the whole of our stay. The hotel is excellent. Lobby bar is fabulous and all the drinks were good, nice to have well made cocktails. Hotel is beautiful and well kept. Cleaners and gardeners all are so friendly and excellent at their jobs. Food was very good, so much choice in buffet and the staff in restaurant is lovely. A-la-carte restaurants (twice a week) are all good too. Evening entertainment was very good. Different shows each evening at 9:30, every night. The beach was nice and only a very short walk from the hotel’s room, also we could even eat at the Beach grill . I want to thank the hotel and staff for its amazing hospitality and personalized service; specially the customer service and entertainment staff, the best by far, even during this pandemic the staff worked so hard. All the staff wore masks and there was sanitizer dispensers all over I strongly recommend Melia Cayo Coco and will be back again soon.

I returned Sunday, November 22 from an incredibly wonderful week at the Melia, Cayo Coco under the exceptional guardianship of Juan the manager. From the moment of our arrival and his warm greetings he personally attended to each and every detail of our daily experiences, no request too small or inconsequential for his immediate attention An example of this: he spent 3 days endeavouring to find my lost watch which was missing on my arrival (not an expensive watch as I reassured him) He arranged thorough searches of both the bus and the airport and reported back to me daily. It didn't turn up but he was so diligent in his efforts that I was deeply touched. He issupported by an amazing staff who also work extremely hard to offer the best service possible. Some names that come to mind: Customer Service Rep. Yunismy, who personally organised a surprise birthday party for me on our last evening.... Champagne delivered to my room, private table at the beach restaurant with a personal waiter, Jesus( who was also exceptional) and a specially baked cake. Other staff:Abel, Emilio, Andre, Oswaldo, Dixon, Tamara, Nayma to name just a few were wonderfully gracious and attentive. All areas of the hotel were kept immaculately clean with tables sanitized after every use in buffet, beach restaurant, snack bar and specialty testaourants. All staff were masked at all times. Rooms meticulously cleaned We really enjoyed many of the food selections and admired the creativity in presentation of small, individual portions (vegetables fruits, desserts) The beach was lovely and even though there were high winds on several days which curtailed swimming, it was still a pleasure to spend time relaxing under the "palapas" and enjoying the sunshine. We enjoyed sampling a variety of special drinks in the lobby bar and watching the dancing shows there nightly. It was an absolute joy to spend a week at this hotel and wished we could have stayed longer. It was a 5 star experience "par excellence". A huge "Thank you" to Juan and his staff I shall return!
