Very pleased with the accomodation. An older hotel but very clean and great amenities. Excellent cafe/bar on the lobby floor. Staff were very welcoming and helpful and loved that it was only a block back from the beach.

Quaint Hotel in a great location. Stayed for 2 nights before Island Cruise.

This hotel is in a great location. It is an older hotel that says VIntage Hawaii, but that was just great for a 2 night stay. Easy check in and out, but parking prices a little high, but so is most of Waikiki.

    Perfect location

We planned Our family trip quite in the last minute because we weren’t sure where to go for our summer vacation. But thankfully we were able to book a room with Ohana east by outrigger during the last week of August. The hotel entrance is quite funny because it’s just a little parking roundabout with a hotel staff standing in a corner counter. Our shuttle from the airport to the hotel - Hawaii23 (with Mark Willis) easily found ohana east. But the main lobby area of the hotel is actually one floor above the street level and you have to take 1/3 elevators to the “second floor” to get to the lobby to check in. Thankfully Dennis the welcoming staff - was very kind and friendly, explained to us where we were supposed to check in. Prior to arriving, I had sent an email to the assistant manager Roland Kam regarding our situation. My husband and I decided to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary with my 2 year old son. And we had needed a play yard/ crib for him to hangout in and take naps in. In addition my mother in law also decided to join our party. Since this was our anniversary Roland was able to get us into the higher rooms and we had a partial view of the mountains - which was pleasant; especially after reading the other comments. But since we were out most of the day this didn’t bother us too much. The best part of ohana east hotel is how close it is to everything. For people who are slower walkers, this hotel is about a 3 minute walk to the beach, the international market place, duke’s lane (the fast service food court), and marukame udon. It’s also a 30 second walk to the ABC store across the way; and about a 7 minute walk to the McDonald’s down the street (they had the best fried taro pie we can’t get in canada). There were also a cafe in front of the lobby of the hotel and smaller sit down restaurants on the street level. But since my family and I decided we Wanted to eat what locals eat, we went out for most of our meals. Lastly our cleaning lady Lin was incredibly helpful and friendly- we had fresh towels and our room was always immaculate when we returned back from our tours. So if you have a budget but still want a more central location to stay in, I would suggest this hotel. It’s a bit rundown because of all the tourist, but we spent most of our trip on the beach / and touring Honolulu, so we didn’t mind. Overall the great team and the friendly staff won me over 5/5

Enjoyed the location right in the middle of all of the action in Waikiki. Clean modest hotel with very comfy beds. Nice pool area. One block back from the beach. One back back from the Cheesecake Factory. One block back from Ross, international market place. Free trips on the pink line to Ala Moana centre with your room key. Would stay there again for location and price alone.

Second stay was as good as the last!

My friend and I stayed at this hotel 3 yrs ago and loved it for its location, value and friendly vibe. Fast forward to now and things are still great. We stayed for a week, Aug 12-19 and got a room w/a king bed & kitchenette. We were hoping to get a room with 2 beds if anything opened up. I appreciated front desk for keeping us informed but since Aug was a busy month, it didn't happen. The room itself was fine regardless: 15th floor, 70's look, lots of space, vanity table, side tables, small dining table & the kitchenette had all the essentials. Front desk will provide a kettle if you ask :) Bed wasn't super comfy but can't expect luxury here. The lanai's were great, we had 2. A larger one w/patio furniture (2 chairs & small table) and a smaller one which is a lookout. We could see Kuhio/mountains from the larger lanai and the lookout was mainly other buildings. So pretty good minus the partial ocean view. We had no problems room wise except with the wifi but a tech was able to help me. The best part was the friendly vibe, every staff member we came across was approachable and greeted us. Front desk and cleaning staff were very helpful during our stay. Our maid Lin who worked the 15th floor was the best! Our room was always tidy & supplies replenished. She was accomodating & felt like family, thanks Lin! As for the rest of the hotel, we made use of the info desk and coffee shop. My friend attended Sun service as well and liked it. I found the info desk helpful for nightlife recommendations and sailing activities. We didn't try the restaurants so can't comment. Other than that, everything was pretty much the same. Just new shops in the neighborhood and construction which woke us each morning but we got used to it. On our last day, we decided to use the hospitality suite before leaving. I would recommend if you're hitting the beach or doing activities after checking out. Having said that, can't go wrong with Ohana East if you're looking for a decent stay minus the luxury. Its a crosswalk from the beach and in the main strip where all the shops/restaurants and bus stops are within reach.
