This Hotel is lovely and has recently been acquired by Westin, therefore the quality and sensibilities that are synonymous and consistent with Westin hotels is apparent. The back drop of the breathtaking beauty of Hapuna Beach makes this hotel hard to beat. There are 2 pools, one adult and one on the lower level for kids. Restaurants are good and service is served with aloha. The only cons are that the hotel is huge and at times can be maze like, although there are numerous elevators, there will still be a bit of walking as to be expected at such an expansive hotel. During this time there was construction going on as I believe the hotel is adding luxury residences along side the hotel. That said, the sound is not so loud or jarring that it disrupts your relaxation and the hotel has Hawaiian music constantly playing throughout the grounds via “invisible “ speakers that seem to be nestled amongst the trees and ground cover. It’s truly paradise ??

We had stayed here a few years ago and always looking for a deal of some sort to return because it is so expensive. Costco had a great deal before Christmas so we took advantage of it. One of the nice things about the deal was that it included breakfast buffet for two. If you can’t find something to eat on the large buffet you have a problem. The malted waffles were great, also real maple syrup. Bacon also perfect. You can get omelettes fixed to order. There is fruit, cereal, delicious pastries, etc. to choose from. Lunch was never soon after the wonderful buffet. I would say every employee we came encountered was so friendly and welcoming. The thing that stopped me from giving the hotel a 5 star rating was the fact that there was a container of chewing tobacco under one of the sinks-was hard to believe housekeeping missed it after a previous guest. Also one day we were shorted two towels, but only one day. The fitness center was great and never too crowded in the morning. The day we checked out we called down for the car and after being outside and waiting for the car it never showed up so we had to ask again. All other times it was there before we got down so unusual.

    A beautiful resort, except.....

The recently renovated Hapuna Bay Resort has a beautiful open air lobby with stunning ocean views. The resort has two pools, including an adults-only infinity pool, and access to a secluded bay with one of the best beaches on the island. The resort is not close to other amenities, although there are two restaurants on the property: Meridia, a fine dining restaurant with very good food and service, and a nice casual cafe by the pool. There is also a morning coffee/evening wine bar and a lower level area that serves a breakfast buffet. We didn’t try the buffet. Instead, every morning, we were warmly welcomed by Rain, who prepared excellent Americanos and lattes for us. We wish we could spend every morning with our coffee enjoying that view. There is a well-equipped exercise room that was never crowded, understandably, since there is that beautiful beach. The resort has a $25 parking fee and a $30 resort fee, which gets you one small bottle of water, pool towels and internet. Our room was on the north side, with a tree directly in front of the window, blocking most of the view, and overlooking a construction site. We asked at the desk if there were other rooms available and were sternly told, “You did use points.” With the lack of a view and the noise of the construction, we didn’t spend much time in the room. Instead, when we were on the property, we made use of the public spaces. There are a number of balconies overlooking the ocean that were always available, it was easy to get a good spot by the pool or on the beach, parking was a breeze since the garage was rarely more than half full. We ate at the casual restaurant twice, and there were only seven or eight tables occupied on both nights. Getting a reservation at Merida on our last night was easy, even at the last minute. It was apparent that the resort was not full, so it was disappointing that we were given a less than desirable room. I realize that this is a bit of a first-world problem. Yes, we were in Hawaii, and the resort is beautiful. However, one of the perks of the Bonvoy program is the ability to use points to stay at hotels. Perhaps if Marriott offered the points plus cash option, which rarely seems to be available, the hotels wouldn’t resent guests who do use points for their stay. This is the first time we’ve had this experience; I hope it’s unique to this hotel and not the sign of a trend.

The views are spectacular, the rooms luxurious. The staff is dripping with Aloha! Yes it is expensive..we caught it on a Costco special for our 50th. Breakfast buffet was included which was great because otherwise it's $38 a person. One drawback is normally they charge exorbitantly for parking. The pools, workout facility, and of course beach access were world class.

I live locally so visit here often for stay-cations ;-) Rooms are large with a good sized lanai; bathrooms are especially large and luxurious. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Views are amazing. Having the new 'adults only area' pool is great! Restaurants and food is fantastic. And of course, being on one of the most beautiful beaches is icing on the cake! With the Westin taking over recently, it up-ed their game here in a good way. Parking is a bit far to walk for those who have needs to be closer however valet guys are great.
