I was in room 83001, from nov, 15 - 20, we went to celebrate our 25th anniversary. the week before I was at a princess resort in playa del carmen and honestly...the difference was night and day on every level. disregarding the fact that covid had caused the guest to be reduced by half, this place is awesome! when we arrived we we had a little issue with check in because of the device we were using malfunctioning, but they had us checked in in about 30 mins with a pretty pack lounge. Carlos (remember that name, he comes into play again later)was super helpful in making sure that registration stayed on track and that we got to our room as soon as possible. The room itself was superb...the view from this room was straight out of a Hollywood movie. I don't think I could say enough about how gorgeous the view of the ocean was from this room. The entire staff was super helpful the entire time we were on our trip. I was most impressed that they actually sent some one to escort us to the restaurant the first night because, we frankly didn't know where to go to get to ackee (which I highly recommend!) every meal and in every establishment asked if we had any allergies and also gave us hand sanitizer before seating us. The food itself was kind of subpar for a gourmet resort and the limits on the foods was a little disappointing, but the service was magnificent. staff always made you feel welcome and went as far to make you feel like family. if you are going to visit, you most defiantly want to visit Shauna Kay in ackee, she is a great waitress. Also make sure you sop by the amber bar downstairs and ask for Antoinette ( the bartender)...she makes great drinks and is super friendly. by time I was midway thru my vacation, anytime I would go relax in the amber bar area, she would have my drinks ready and be on here way to delivering them to me. Steve's water sports was super awesome as well, I would recommend the sunset cruise if you get a chance as well as the glass bottom boat tour. Nick, Martin, Tony, Reynaldo, & Leroy are all great tour guides with a wealth of knowledge about the island. If you actually talk to them and not be one of the ...silent guest( which makes no sense as your on the boat with them, might as well make a friend...lol) you can learn a lot. They go out of their way to m make sure that they can provide a safe and fun experience even though they are not part of the resort, so definatly make sure you stop by and at minimum...do the glass bottom tour and snorkel( ask about the anchor and the cannon). Tasha was also a huge help as we ran into a little bit of a timing crunch for our sunset cruise and we didn't have enough people to go, she went out of her way to track us down(on the other Side of the resort) and let us know that she was able to get the cruise for us as a private cruise on our schedule, which made my wife super happy. Also, make sure sure you stop by the West End food spot, you will love the jerk chicken panini, and ....THEY HAVE SOFT SERVE ICE CREAM!!!! Sous check Rohan and the crew at West end will certainly make you and yours smile when you want a quick snack at any time of day or night( they are 24 hrs). one of our favorite spots to eat became mahogany. Again the food was subpar on some occasions( nothing beat ackee...that food was just...good!) but again, service to the rescue. they went out of their way to make sure that we were happy with our meals and if if for some reason we were not( once I had cold pancakes...for breakfast...seriously....) they immediately made it right with a smile and no questions. I like having a Pepsi in the morning, and the waitresses did nothing short of making sure that I had it ( usually the bar was close at that time in the morning and that's were the Pepsi was ...lol) . everything was wonderful until it was time to leave. the before we were scheduled to go , we called our transportation company and they had out flight time and pick up time completely incorrect. Janice did her best to try to correct it by calling the company from the front desk but could not get a hold of them. the company did eventually call back at which time they got Carlos(I told you he comes back into play) and Carlos was able to get it all straightened out and made sure that our transportation was ready and settled, which we didn't know at the time. The transportation company called us the next morning early to confirm the details and then advised that Carlos was able to get them the right information. THANK YOU CARLOS AND JANICE FOR YOUR WORK ON THAT!!! Honestly, there are only a few strikes against Azul, and 1 of them they probably can't do anything about. strike 1 is the food...if you are going to say you are a gourmet resort, then I expect that you will live up to that. the food sometimes had a taste of being frozen or prepared ahead of time and stored away for a while. granted I'm sure there were some buffets and it was an adjustment due to covid, but come on man....lol. strike 2 were the vendors, they were not allowed with in 100 ft of property but they are allowed to walk the beach. security tried to make sure they did not disturb the guest but they had to respect their rights to the waterway. its a little annoying having to say no 20 times or more a day but they are way less aggressive than the vendors in Mexico, so I was very grateful for that. Overall I don't think I could have asked for anything more ( I didn't even get into the bottle of champagne they had in the room when we got there or the plate of goodies they sent once they found out we were celebrating our 25th there) from Azul. It was an absolutely wonderful experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone staying in Negril for vacation. the staff is awesome and I honestly feel like most of the food problems were because of the storms that hit the island previously. I will be return in a few months( God and Weather willing) to see what its like when its open 100%...I expect that it will be even more awesome and fun!!

My husband and I just got back from a two week stay ( November 6th-21st 2020). We had room 83003 on the 3rd (upper) floor, with an amazing oceanview. We love the sun, and you do get alot of it on the balcony(as no roof on it). When it rains, forget about using it. The hotel itself was built all along the oceanfront, so most rooms do have a nice view( except ground floor swimout rooms, which often have a view on the pool bars). That is why that the hotel has a really long beachfront, (with a very acceptable width). We have visited many hotels in the Carribean over the years and we found that this hotel has the very best service( thanks to their hard working friendly staff. ). A special thanks to Ana-Kay, Shanique , Sashana,Mickel Brown (entertainment and activites). Nicole and Tina, Ana-Kay waitresses, Beach butler Dave, Carlos bellman, Rosario, Heinsley and Kenesha, and to all the other staff, including our cleaning lady (We dont remeber all their names ). The mini bar was empty on our arrival, they explained that due to Covid, you have to call room service, and order what you need ( for example I often ordered 4 or 6 bottles of water, they are the small ones, 4 beer, 2 cola and 7UP).. Then you must stay in the room until they deliver it to you with room service( they wont just leave it in the room) so if you waiting for it and your out on the balcony leaving the door open, because they usually phone you just before it arrives to say that it is on its way up. We also brought 2 wide mouthed refillable platsic water bottles, they are really handy, we take them with us to the beach in our beach bag and have them filled with water at the bar. The food was delicious, all the restaurants were not opened. We loved the Italien restaurant, the steak was great, thick, juicy and tender. The menu has alot of choices as well, such as Salmon, Pizza, Pasta. In second place was the Asian resto, with the delicious sushis, spring rolls, stiry fries, duck etec. Then the Mahogany , now a la carte (it was the buffet before Covid), each Wednesday and Saturday evening they have steak and lobster on the menu , on the other days it is a varied menu for lunch and dinner. The Jamacian resto was good, but not many choices on the menu. The West End snack bar is great for snacks, burger fries etec. The nightly entertainment was great, for example fireshow, beach party, daily activites too. Download the GA Azul Beach Negril app and you can see all the menus and entertainment ahead of time. Also they do have a fans of Azul Negril fan club on Facebook. We highly reccommend this hotel .

    Mixed emotions on Azul

Would I return? No. Positives are the beach is nice, ocean swim friendly and they have very comfortable beach chairs/huts to relax in. They comb the beach, care for the landscaping and the people are nice/hospitable here. It is a clean property. A few things could be fixed here and there but no major complaints. The Thai restaurant is phenomenal! Lobster night was delicious also. Negatives are we booked a swim up room with high anticipation. I would never book one again. The resort sidewalk is in between you and the beach. This is also the service sidewalk where all of the workers are running back and forth with loud carts and the bar area every morning in the pool is loud with workers restocking the bottles so the privacy/peace on our patio was nonexistent. The beach ”butlers” should say “butler” trying to serve a hundred people. We ended up getting our own drinks and food all week. They played loud music in one of the pool areas all afternoon so no peace on beach. Many peddlers on the beach each day. They ran out of vodka and rum one day at an all inclusive resort. Rooms smelled like smoke but it was actually just the humidity causing it. The rooms were nice but small. The beds were very uncomfortable and hard and they gave you tiny pillows for a king bed. Didn’t sleep much. The “gourmet” coffee bar was basically espresso. They need a coffee shop as the majority of people drink this every day. The mixed drinks weren’t great either. Overall just not enough to bring me back.

We stayed at the hotel in November 2020 with only 50% guests at the hotel. Rooms are spacious and the bed is perfect. Some restaurants were closed due to Covid19 where we told. Food and beverage og the open restaurant were also limited due to Covid19 but we would have liked to have been pre-notified to align our expectations. We had the best Butler, Davita, going over and above to make our stay memorable.

I have been in this hotel twice, last year I enjoyed a lot my vacation so I came back this year and I have to say, this hotel is always improving. It is really enjoyable, relaxing and comfortable. I LOVED the food!! Chef Ivan and Chef Maritza are so great at kitchen and so kind! It was the best part of the experience. The entertainment team is kind of boring, tho, I rather entertain myself with the views and the walks I took... and eating!! Highly recommended!
