This was the first time I’ve been to Jamaica. I took my twin 21 year olds and a niece. Keen was there to greet us and show us around and ended up becoming a family member to us he hand us off to Kade who kept us in good hands and made sure we had everything we could need. The staff was the best. The entertainment and entertainers were also amazing.. I can’t say anything about our experience except for I can’t wait to see everyone again. The people I met outside the resort were the best the county is beautiful we just didn’t have enough time to see it all. From zip lining to tubing down Martha’s Brea on bamboo rafts and hearing about the river and culture to ATV rides through the “jungle” rum Tasting and ya mon the CJD’S (crazy Jamaican drivers)??. I’m in love. KEEN you rock! You’ll be seeing us soon. Thank you thank you thank you is all I can say..??????

This was by far the best all inclusive resort. From the moment we entered the lobby we were treated like royalty. The entire staff is amazing. Everyone that served us were warm and inviting. Nothing was ever a bother. No request turned down. At times they went above and beyond. The general manager Vishal is awesome. He really cares about Jewel Grande and it shows in the staff. The grounds are breathtaking. The rooms are spacious. We met some really dedicated staff members. I wish I could name them all but there’s probably not enough space on this page. The Sentry is the best place for dining. Austin was just a trainee but you would never know it. He was always professional and kind as was the same with Rockel who is also a trainee. She makes the best coffee in the SugarCane Coffee Bar. Our stay at the Jewel Grand was truly a wonderful experience with much thanks to Hugh at the Sentry, DQ-Karla-Deen-Cricket Grille, Tahakia-sentry, Tadean Miller-front desk manager, Kemar water sports,Janice-steak houseShayna-steak house, Shanile Schloss-front desk. Thank you GM VIshal you have dedicated staff. Jewel Grand is definitely on its way to being a 5 star destination. We already booked for next year!

The resort is great, the grounds are well maintained, its clean and well decorated. What makes the Jewel Grande MG great is the service. I would go through the list of names but I put those in the survey and really takes away from the fact every staff member we meet or just casually passed by was great. My wife and kids loved the watersports and every time we went out the guys would keep us laughing and smiling, The restaurants wait staff and cooks would provide conversation, stories and magic tricks to keep us all entertained and if you didn't see something you want would go out of their way to get it for you. Like a local taste of Ackee and salt fish. The Entertainment was exciting and they could get the crowd going. We never ran into any issues. I will say our Butlers Aston and Mr. G where great and continually stepped up to provide expectably service from snacks, in resort reservations, tracking down some of our preplanned events to averting a potential issue I had coming to the hotel to start by tracking down our transfer driver. The Knitpicking (all of which is offset by the service). The beach is small and manmade but offers a place to hang out when not exploring the country (they expanded some of the shade while we were there). The food is good to great (Steakhouse and Waves) but could use some more breakfast options outside of the two buffets. The gym could use an expansion to match the amount of guest 3 high rises can bring. But this is offset by some of the fitness activities during the day.

This was our fifth trip to Jamaica and fifth time staying at a Jewel resort Property, yes we absolutely love the Jewel Family. Every time we have stayed at one of their resorts we have been treated like family, and this was no different, to an extent that is. My wife and I have stayed at all the resorts, we have brought our son to Jewel Runaway Bay, and now to Jewel Grande for a Family Vacation. Our arrival at the hotel was awesome. We had a very courteous greeting from the gentleman at the door and he led us inside and directed to the desk. Before we could take three steps a lovely lady greeted us with cold towels and a welcome drink, which where very refreshing. The check in process was easy and the lobby was nicely decorated. Our suite was not ready so we had a tour of the grounds and a drink from a bar. It was not long before our butler said the room was ready. The room itself was in the middle building and the inside was absolutely perfect. the AC was cold and the ocean view was beautiful. We had the two bedroom suite so our son could have his own room and shower. His room had a side view of the mountains a side of the next building. Our balcony was a wrap around and was huge. On a recommendation to anyone looking, request a suite on the east side of the building. On a recommendation, we will request a suite on the sixth floor or higher on the east side of the building. When we went to the balcony we could smell the kitchen and hear clanking plates and silverware being washed. Constant commotion from workers using the path between buildings which was under our side balcony . Our son complained that the sounds of the kitchen exhaust fans kept him up a few nights, so noise is a issue. Also the entertainment was super loud at night when they used the main area outside building three, it seemed to be pointed directly at our building and was so loud even with the sliding door shut it was very bothersome. The kitchen had a fantastic refrigerator and separate freezer. The Fridge was stocked with the basic sodas and Red Stripe. We decided we wanted the regular stocking changed and had the butlers see to it, it did take a reminder several times. As far as in room Alcohol for the adults, there is none and the butlers said that is not part of the room. We did go out in town and had a great deal on a bottle of Appleton Rum in the room for a night cap. That was allowed they just don't provide bottles in the room like the adult resorts. At the other properties we had ice delivered daily, but at Grande we had to ask for it every day. The housekeepers did a good job keeping a suite with a spunky teen clean and always had a smile. The food at the specialty restaurants was delicious. The seafood took a bit longer than expected. The previous reviews about not going there hungry where accurate. Italian never disappointed at all and you can get a seat easily. The Asian was good, the hibachi was entertaining and the food prepared well. The steak house was a treat. The chef came to our table and asked how i wanted the lobster prepared (lobster is extra) and the steak was cooked as ordered. Hats off to the server Ms Lanya, she went above and beyond...my son wanted spaghetti from his favorite restaurant (Italian) and Lanya delivered it with the meal, talk about great service wow. She never said no, never questioned or was hesitant in doing this for him. Room service was easy to order and always delivered within 30 minutes or less. at time the breakfast order was not quite what we wanted but it was good and easy. Recommendation, if you have butlers they will ask for you to let them know what you want and when you want it delivered, they do this service but stick to the menu and our butlers did not try and see if we could get something not listed on the menu, we where told no several times without hesitation by them. However if you talk to the room service wait staff by phone(Tiffany was awesome and she never said no) you can get virtually anything. We had food from the Asian restaurant and Italian not listed on the room service menu and many different breakfast items. The Bars did a good job serving allot of drinks and they all tasted very good. They always asked if it was for a adult or a child, very careful not to intentionally serve children alcohol, a major plus in my book. A kind of bad thing is this is a Jewel Resort, all of the resorts have a drink list for its customers. You can even find the Jewel Drink list on line ( Cocktails at Jewel with the Jamaica Observer). Jewel Grande Bar Tenders where mixed on knowing the drinks and they didn't have some of them listed on their bar menu. I asked for a Ruby Red, one of my Favorites from our first Jewel visit at JPC four years ago, and none knew what it was or even offered to make it when i told them the ingredients, none but one. The Lobby Bartender Ricardo went out of his way to find the ingredients and make it for me, not just one time, but every time he i walked into the lobby bar area. The pools where very nice and clean. You have to get up and go to the pool around 7ish in the morning to get a lounger with some shade, otherwise you are in the sun and very hot. The pool by the lobby is the quieter of the two and had allot of kids having fun, my son loved the slope allowing him to walk into the water and there was plenty of shade by the palm trees. The beech as awesome with the breaks limiting the waves and currents. Easy to have fun with kids play in the sand. The sand portion was groomed every morning and periodically throughout the day. A few rocks and some sea weed but for the most part very enjoyable. We did the beech cabana one day and it was good, cold drinks in a cooler and the server was very attentive. A little different that we are use to but still good. like the pools, shade is a luxury as well. If you want shade you need to get to the beech around 7ish or earlier and claim a spot under a palm canopy or palm tree, if not you are in the sun. I know going to the beech is in sun but having a break is nice. Towels for both are plenty and located by each pool, they are available early and never run out. The grill by the main lobby pool is awesome with the jerk chicken and sides, great service by the staff kept our drinks full and when we wanted to eat food coming, really good for a growing teenager. The other pool by building three was the more like the main party pool. Allot of events and games are held there and is allot of fun, the shade is a issue there as well. That grill served burgers, wraps and stuff. However for the first time in our visits to Jewel, the pool grill actually ran out of burgers. My son really wanted a burger so the Italian server went to the kitchen and came back with a cheeseburger, go figure. The Italian Restaurant is in the same patio area as the grill so it was really like 20 yards away. Now for some serious stuff, if you have bad knees, hips, or even back issues you should consider another resort. There are multiple level stairs you must climb and go down to get anywhere. if you want to go to the lobby from the second building you have to walk down to floors of stairs and up a ttl of three flights of stairs, I inquired about a way to get to the lobby or restaurants without walking up and down several floors of stairs and was told no other way by a security guard. On the 7th day i was told of a shuttle that they had, it was not on every day and when I did ask for it i was told it would be a half hour, at best. I am not handicapped but military knee injuries make it hard to walk up to 10 flights of stairs every day, just to go eat, several times a day. The suite came with two butlers, which is the norm for Jewel. When my wife and I stay at Jewel Dunns River our suite also has two butlers. This instance the butlers did a ..ok job. We where use to our butlers in JDR and the service they provide. They came and visited us every day, made sure we had excellent service every day with dinner and with our room. Did special things like a fruit or cheese platter in our room in the afternoon, little notes saying hello and if we needed anything. I feel that the butlers at Jewel Grande need a little more training. At least the two we had. We only spoke to them if by chance we walked past them, then at times it seems like we bothered them. we actually had no contact by them for almost two days, although we needed some items we found that using the staff instead of the butlers got better service and more reliable service. Even the day we left we receive notice that they would be up to get our bags by a certain time, we eventually called the front desk after thirty minutes past the time to get assistance with the bags. Remember you have to walk up and down at least five flights of stairs to get to the lobby. Needless to say they did not receive the usual tip and we where a little taken back by the lack of service, especially when we had a two bedroom suite. Ithink perhaps they should forgo the butler idea and not use them in some cases, that way guests who use Butler service at the other Jewel Properties are not disappointed or feel like they are a bother to them by asking for asistance. Most of the employees are so good and are the awesome Jewel resort representatives we have come to love. With any big organization you have really good and some bad, but at Jewel Grande the bad are not really bad and the good are really good.
