Not value for money, real shame

Fernando099 (London) on Apr 11, 2024

Overall It's an incredible place, extremely poorly managed. The staff ruins the experience. You see photos and the place is really that amazing in real life, until you have to experience the services and staff. More details below. Room readiness The room where we stayed in our first 3 nights was located next door to an elevator that had a very loud intermittent whirring noise all night long which woke me up several times. We requested to change rooms. There were also rusty parts in our room. The entire environment felt aged and not well looked after. When we moved to the new room, the balcony door was stuck shut and we had to ask someone from maintenance to fix it. The safe digital screen was broken, although the safe itself worked. Not what we expected for a $700/night rate. Staff helpfulness In most of our interactions we felt the staff came across as uninterested and disengaged. This was particularly annoying while we tried to address the room change issue. Also, every day we went to Aquaventure and couldn't believe how often some slides were closed off for no good reason. When we asked the staff why they had been closed off, we were told to talk to someone else. It came across as the staff weren't bothered at all. Dining It was a mixed bag. Nobu was outstanding as expected. Silan was excellent too. But Chopstix was so bad we couldn't finish our food and had to buy pringles on the way back. Marina Pizzeria was very good, but over the weekend they ran out of pizza halfway through the evening (it was around 8.30-9pm). Aquadventure Like Atlantis overall, Aquaventure is an amazing place, very badly managed. We went there every single day as we have a young kid. The water temperature was too cold. The staff was unhelpful at most times and inexplicably closed off several of the rides. The worst thing though is the over crowding. To our surprise, they sell day tickets to Aquaventure to people not staying at Atlantis! And these people arrive early, get all the sun beds and crowd the place. You pay as much as we did, you'd expect exclusive (or priority) access to Aquaventure, but no. Fitness center Fitness Center closing at 7pm is ridiculous. I would like to enjoy my day in the sun/pool/beach and then go for a workout before dinner. I can't understand a hotel this big with a 24-hour casino can't have 1-2 staff members to man the front desk at the fitness center until later in the day like 9-10pm. I'm not asking for a 24-hour gym, but 7pm is ludicrous.

Not a Harbor View

Mary M on Apr 06, 2024

I rarely write a review like this but I need to share this terrible experience. I was celebrating my 70th BD and booked this trip with my family over a year in advance. I requested a room on a high floor with a balcony and a view of the harbor. We were given a room overlooking the filthy roof of the building. I requested a new room from the manager and instead of trying to accommodate, he made it so inconvenient - must vacate by 11a the next day and could not get into a new room before 4p. Staying at the Atlantis Resort is extremely expensive and to have to look at a roof top for our entire stay with our granddaughter took away from the pleasure of this trip. Be very careful when offered a HARBOR view at this resort. Even if you plan a year in advance, you may be looking at an ugly roof top instead of the harbor.

A summary of Atlantis hotels .

504darlenev (Santa Monica, California) on Apr 04, 2024

My first time at Atlantis . Coral was lovely , no carpet in rooms which I like and a balcony . Very quiet , nice pool and if you have teens, Crush is awesome for them . Lobby has games and tvs for kids , great retail shops and coffee shops/ Starbucks . Couldn’t use beach it was too rough but went down to Cove . Royal has carpets and no balconies , long lines for Poseidon restaurant. Cove is nice but further away for kids . It’s more private and beautiful pool only for Cove guests . If my kids were older I would stay at Cove for the outdoor area . Rooms I believe are the same as other hotels , don’t let the lobby for Cove fool you . You have kids ? Stay at Coral or Royal .

Atlantis - Horrible Trip

V6903XGchrisj (Royal Oak, Michigan) on Apr 01, 2024

If you like waking up at 7AM to get a seat at any pool or beach... this is the resort for you. If you like hidden fees - Atlantis has got you set. 25$ a day for internet (but only 4 devices).... other than the dinner options that dont have any availability weeks in advance... you get to eat american junk food! Whats the point going to another country if you dont showcase their food. Also - waiting 10 min a day for towels... crazy food prices and lines of people from outside the resort getting into an already PACKED resort is not acceptable. Even with all that our family of 5 spent $5,000 in food for the week (we only got into 2 restaurants.... so this is from the fast food/buffet/starbucks breakfast

Paradise with Flaws

Daniela B on Apr 01, 2024

Overall the Hotels (Coral, Royal and Cove) are beautiful (I stayed at the Coral). Royal is very busy - looks like a Las Vegas Hotel and Cove is calmer - more expensive. All the hotels shared the same outdoor facilities, so it is very big outside and beachfront. The facilities/pool are great, very clean, there are many pools and the slides are fun. Staff is very friendly and polite. The beach is amazing - the water color is turquoise - it is stunning. However, there were a few disappointments. 1- No enough place to eat: make reservations way in advance. It is impossible to get a last minute table. The restaurants are very expensive ($38 for chicken, $30 for pasta, $60 for steak, etc). 2- Casual dinning with healthy choices: NONE 3- Unhealthy casual dinning: shake shack and pizza (the pizza is great, but very long lines) 4- Buffet restaurant - prepare your wallet - $77 per person - I refused to eat there, so I can't rate the food quality, but who eats $77 worth of food? including for a 14 year-old? 5- Pool Bar - only unhealthy choices and not a lot of options (typical fried food, burgers, hot dogs - really like Disneyworld type of food). No tropical fruits. Coconut water was $10. No healthy finger food. 6- Too many people: impossible to get a chair at the pools. Too many people everywhere. It is like a zoo. 7- Very Americanized. Inside the Hotels you are pretty much in an US bubble. If you want to experience the culture you need to get out, but cabs are pricey. 8- Spa - the massage was great, but the facility is not that great. One small hot tub. Overall, the Hotel and facilitates are great, expect the food. But prepare the bank!
