I am so glad our 9 day stay was comped by Harrahs Caesar resorts. That made our decision to leave 4 days early so much easier. Day 1 - no hot water in the rooms at the Royal towers. Maintenance came spent 15-20 minutes attempting to fix what we found out later was a large known issue. The changed our room the next day to an upgraded room. The food and drinks are over priced and not good. Limited food options, after 11:00 pm you won’t be able to buy a bottle of water. No vending machines anywhere. Many of the restaurants are open odd hours. Closing at 3:00 pm or not opening until 5:00 pm. The steak house is trash. They ran out of Ribeye. The replacement steak was unflavored and thrown away. The water park is not fully open, alternating days for certain rides. Lines for COVID test was 2 hours. It had minimal direction on NO distancing. Thank god for the casino otherwise I would have left on day 2.

We just returned from a week at Atlantis. We stayed at the Harborside which I reviewed separately (and positively). This review is for Atlantis more generally speaking. FIRST AND FOREMOST, before you book PLEASE call them to ask what is open. We assumed since their Instagram keeps posting about them being open again after Covid, that meant actually open -- but it doesn't. Half the waterpark slides close for the day every other day. Half the restaurants are still closed. And the Beach at Atlantis, and attractions around it, are completely closed. AS for the stuff that is open, Atlantis is like Disneyworld near the ocean. It is VERY cool. The attention to detail is amazing. It is gorgeous. In some respects, it is downright awesome! However, the prices are just gross. It is not just expensive. They gouge you at every possible turn. The food, the drinks, $160.00 a week just for spotty wi-fi that barely works -- prepare for a very expensive vacation and that is coming from someone who frequently stays at 4 and 5 star resorts. We swam with the dolphins which cost $415 for our family of three. Want pictures of that? Well you aren't allowed to take any or bring your Go-Pro and they charge you $200.00 for the pics they take!!! Yikes. Then the service... OMG the worst. Maybe it is because they auto tack on 15% gratuity to every single bill (regardless of whether they simply handed you a bottle of water) thus have no incentive to provide good service but I have never received slower or worse service at any resort anywhere ever. If you are thinking the radically high prices mean excellent service you are severely mistaken. They offer Covid testing but be forewarned that "service" takes as long as everything else in Atlantis. We stood in line for an hour and a half to get our tests done. We've traveled twice in Mexico since Covid -- at both resorts there the testing was quick and easy. All in all -- yes -- we had a blast. Atlantis is very cool. Our daughter had the time of her life. At least I hope she did because that was our first and last trip to Atlantis.

Maybe this place was good -- in 1998.

I hate doing this. I hate leaving 1 star for this place - when I really want to leave 0 stars. Do not go here. I repeat DO NOT GO HERE. Atlantis was always a bucket list item for us. We were looking forward to spending 8 days at this place for my birthday. Everything was downhill from the moment we arrived. We were told we were getting a spectacular room. The only thing that was spectacular was the view. everything else was old - dingy - had not been renovated since the 1996/98 update. We had no hot water in the shower. The power outlets didn't work. Guest Services didn't call us back after promising a call back that night. There was no where to get even a bottle of water or snack after 11p. We did talk to a Front Desk Manager (Tabitha) the next day - she's the only saving grace at this place and had our room switched. Still we wouldn't stay here. I can get better food at Applebee's for a cheaper price. Nothing was authentic Bahamian, save for McKenzies. We had to leave the resort just to get decent food. The "water" park was a joke. I'm sure Atlantis was a great place to go in 1998. But everything is old, run down, and way too expensive. Save your money! Go somewhere else.

Wish I could give zero stars. Don't stay here if you want a good vacation

We honestly wish we could give this place zero stars. I've never done trip advisor before, but I joined only to warn people not to chose the Atlantis if they are coming to Nassau for a vacation. This place is currently all about the money - the hotel was packed with people when we were there, with little staff, and the staff there didn't seem to care what was going on or what guests were doing. Lines were long, staff was slow, and half the guests didn't have masks on. These people would walk past employees, who would say nothing. This started with check in - long lines to check in, you could barely hear anyone, and there were no friendly greetings. No masks provided to guests if they didn't have one, no sanitizing going on, barely any temperature checks (only temperature check was at the front entrance, and it was easy to get around those). We checked into our room, only to find we didn't have towels. It took about 4 phone calls to get anyone to answer. It took a similar amount of phone calls to get our bags delivered to our room (they took them, we would have brought them up ourselves if we could). The restaurants are slow, and half open. During the day there is limited food options, and even ordering take out pizza or sandwiches gets you hit with mandatory gratuity (not sure why packaging a sandwich gets you 15% tip). Plato's Lounge was a main site as well of people without masks, yet the staff didn't seem to care if anyone was properly masked. If you show up to the hotel thinking you will be able to get a table at a restaurant, good luck - your options will be 5pm or 9pm. You need to book your dinners all in advance, otherwise you won't be eating at a normal time. There were too many people for the capacity of the restaurants they had open. There are limited eating options outside of the hotel as well. And a bottle of water will cost you $4 plus tip and VAT (yep, water). Covid testing - Yes, this place "offers" covid testing for your 5 day Bahamas test and to get back into the US. But what they don't tell you is that you will be standing in line for 2 hours to get this done. We had an appointment for 12:10pm, and didn't get our test done until after 2pm, causing us to miss an activity we had booked. There is no one there to keep you informed, no one to move things along, you are waiting in one line after another to get tested. This was not a one off thing - the lines were long each day, and we passed other people angrily speaking with the one lone staff member they could find about this wait. Also, no one talks to you about covid testing when you check in - multiple people in line were getting their tests on the wrong day (for example, no one tells you the test has to be day 5, and not day 4 - this seemed to be a common occurrence when we were in line, with guests scheduling them for day 4). You would think something about covid testing and regulations would be mentioned at check in, but no one does. The pools? They are packed. No social distancing, no sanitizing of seats, and towels are a rare commodity. Half the slides are open at a time. The lazy river was closed one day - we asked a worker if it would be open the next day, and he just said "fingers crossed" like no one seems to know what is going on. I honestly don't know how this place thinks it can stay open with such lax rules and lack of resources for guests. Other reviewers seem to think that a negative covid test makes them invincible, that they can do anything - but that's far from the way the world is right now. A negative covid test means you don't have it now - it doesn't mean you can throw caution to the wind and not wear a mask, or not social distance. Other countries we have traveled since COVID offer better social distancing, sanitizing, and covid protocols - Atlantis just wants money and will pack in as many people as they can, even if they can't support them. The Bahamas was a great trip for us - but our only good memories were the excursions we did away from the hotel. I know one day we will be back to the island, but never to the Royal. Thankfully the Bahamas government gives you the option to email them about concerns - we have several about the Royal, and hopefully they will do something about the resort.

My wife and I visted The Atlantis after not having been here for many years....the property is huge but immaculate in every area. Certainly a destination for family and kids. Without a doubt, the highlight of our trip was meeting and getting to know Monique who heads the Bell Desk at the Royal Tower! Professional, friendly and helpful in every way! She helped us get the proper room we were promised, checked up on us, arranged for transportation when needed and even called my wife and sang Happy Birthday to her! Not to take anything away from any other staff at The Royal, but Monique is, in our opinion, one of the most valuable assets of the Atlantis! May God bless her and her family and we hope to see Monique again in the future.....if you visit and have any needs, she's your ticket! Bob & Diane O
