    Awesome last minute trip to Crown Paradise Golden

    Earlier this month I came across a pretty good deal for flight and hotel during high season so I took the 5 days holiday at the last minute. I was already scheduled to visit CPG in April for a week but needed some R&R now and a good thing because now due to the Coronavirus Epidemic I has forced to cancel my April trip. The new addition to the hotel is very nice- I love the rooftop pool as it's smaller and more relaxing. Jose the bartender is awesome as are all of them- if you want a certain brand of liquor they'll find it for you. I literally spent 5 days at the resort and didn't walk off the property as I just needed to relax. The reason the resort gets 5 stars from me is the Staff, this was my 6th trip to CPG and the main reason is a relaxed, fun, Adults Only resort. The resort is exactly what I need when it's time to lower the blood pressure in this old guy. Visit the resort, you won't be sorry - Of course after you feel safe enough to travel once the virus has run it's course. Be back as soon as I can CPG!

    We liked this smaller size resort as it was easy and quick to get to the restaurants, pools, bars and rooms. With 6 a-la-carte and 2 buffets, we never found the food too repetitive and overall it was well prepared. We especially enjoyed the food in the Mexican and Japanese restaurants. Food aside, the highlight of this hotel is the staff. We are especially thankful for the great service from Bellavista staff: Karla (hostess), Theodore, head chef, Alan, chef, other assistants, Carmelo and the other Captain and waiters, Fabrisio, Joel and Daniel, to name a few of the great waiters. For the first few days there were so many wasps bothering us at breakfast buffet. Since I have a severe allergy to wasp stings and carry an epi pen I took my concern to Karla. I don’t know what she made happen but after that I hardly saw a wasp. It was so nice to have Karla greet us with a big smile whenever we entered the buffet. She, along with the Bel Boy, Carlos, went above and beyond to help my husband find and retrieve his lost cel phone (left in a taxi). Violeta, Vanessa and German from concierge, also played a critical role in returning his phone. They were all so helpful and very professional. To celebrate our anniversary, German facilitated decorating our room, including champagne. It was a beautiful surprise for me. I loved having my first coffee in the morning at the Breeze Bar, then heading to the buffet for a nice breakfast. The large, heated pool was nice but there are very few chairs in the shade. We suggested the hotel remove the arched, steep bridge at the pool as we saw some people fall and hurt themselves. The pool is busy with activities at certain times every day, but there was usually room for relaxing as well. We feel staff should not be required to handle people’s personal dirty cups - only hotel cups should be used. We had an ocean front room which provided a wonderful view of Banderas Bay and it was fun to watch the cruise ships come and go. Unfortunately the pigeons congregated on our railing and made a mess. They seemed to live in a hole that was above us. The room was very spacious with good closet and drawer space and a comfortable king bed. They also had a nice big flat TV but only one English Channel. No fan but AC was good. The shower is part of the tub and I found it difficult getting in and out of the tub as it was very high off the floor. Our housekeeper, Yolanda, was friendly and efficient. We also enjoyed the services of Jose and Ricardo, servers at the Breeze and other bars

    We had paid extra for ocean front view but the upgraded building with the nice rooms had no availability. We were stuck in one of the obsolete old rooms. The food tastes reheated, and not good, service is ok. We had several issues with the door and access to our room. The door key kept getting disconnected and un-sinked; and one day the door wouldn’t lock.

    fabulous time in paradise

    We were very satisfied with our time at Crown Paradise Golden. The staff were all very friendly and helpful when we had any questions and requests. The rooms were very clean, although the bathrooms are dated. We were missing a chair on our balcony when we arrived but another chair was immediately provided. We ate all meals at the Bellevista buffet and were always happy with the variety of food options and were very impressed with the delicious meal at the Salvador ala-carte restaurant. As well I was very happy with the wine offered at the buffet, we have been at other resorts with much poorer qualtiy of wine. We enjoyed time on the beach and at the main pool and roof top pool was a nice change with a view. Close proximity to the marina, the mall and Walmart also offered access to shopping, snacks, etc.. We were very appreciative to have access to the Air Transat rep at our resort to keep us updated on flight status to return home during the Covid-19 pandemic. We were also fortunate to enjoy our full week in the beautiful city of Puerto Vallarta, because we now doing 14 days of self-isolation back in Canada with 3 feet of snow in our back yard! Much thanks to Crown Paradise for a beautiful resort and to Air Transat for flying empty to Mexico and returning tourists back to Canada.

    A Few Issues

    My partner and myself spent 3 weeks at this property from Feb 19 to March 11, I will begin to provide info regarding our experiences, this will be my honest and unbiased option! Firstly, The Rooms; The rooms were clean, with a mini bar, stocked each and every day, with a couple cans of beer, soft drinks and water, each room had a ocean view, except for the newer block that a different view, but still a ocean view. Our room had 2 queen size beds, with a small table and chair, one item we noticed was that the floors didn't seemed to be sweept on a daily basis. We had one problem, on national Womens day, where there was no room service, no towels exchanged etc, then on the day after, we didn't receive any towels until 06:00PM. On the National Womens day, the hotels excuse was that all the women workers were on strike but it was obvious, they simply gave them the day off, obviously, male employees do nnot do womens work! The meals at the resort. cant go wrong with breakfest but lunch and Supper were simply BAD, we had our lunch as a sandwich at the beech bar or at the snack area, as for Supper, we ate mostly at the al a Carte- Mexican was far the best out of the 5 at the resort, the other 4 we would NOT recommect at all, visit the Mexican, there is no limit on times that you can visit! The snack bar provided hambergers and hot dogs, but the key word to tell the cook is "Crispy", this they reconginize as being well done. The Beech Bar lady made the Best Pannini's, about 6 different kinds, along with fresh fruit in the AM at around 7AM with fresh coffee and juices. Before I leave, I was always told and saw in many reviews, go to the Club side for a better buffet , this leads me to the question, WHY? We bought our stay at the Golden side, more expensive, so why do we have to spend a quite supper at a noisy area with numerous screaming kids, the Buffet issue has to be addressed immediately! The Pool area was loud with basically the same activities every day with exception to the Foam Party on Sat at 2, a welcome refresher complete with a live band. Being at the property for 3 weeks, up early around 6 each morning, I never saw the pool cleaned, only a guy that added chemicals, the pool decks were only cleaned once a week, a bit concerning! The beech area was racked, again about once a week, only about 6 umbrellas in total, about 4 at the pool, more have to be purchased! If you wanted a drink, you were served on the beech, which was great, but insure a tip is provided every so often. One BIG issue was the towels, when you check in, no towel card is issued, people take towels as needed, sometimes, 2-3 each daily, dont return but leave on the loungers and chairs, when bwe checked out, their was no towel enquiry or measurement so the PIGS where their mommies didn't travel with them, left the pool/beech area scattered with towels, has to be addressed by Management! I must admit, the hotel had the best wifi, from room to beech, strong signal, no issues, the best from all my travels! There were reviews about the Bats and Bees, NO concern what so ever, as mentioned, I was often out and about prior to sun rise, Bat time, but there were no sightings or attacks from the Bats or Bees, obviously, the bats control the bugs, no mosquitoes ! In the new building, this is where the roof top pool deck is, quite the view of the whole bay/ocean, bar service with music, again, Towels scattered about, left for staff to pickup! Security was noticeable at the resort, if you had a issue, they were approachable. On a side note, don't be lured to join the Hotel Paradise Facebook Club, yes, there is info that they do supply BUT if ever you have a least bit negitive issue, you will be shot down from all, they only want to hear the positives, I was on for about a week that deleted! This is a adult only resort, there were a few younger girls that surely didn't look 18, not even close, so upon check-in, ages have to be checked to verify and keep the age requirements at par. We did not appreciate the Friday Morning check-in by local Mexican groups that only stay until Sunday, obviously, they did not pay a North American Hotel stay premium but were afforded the same rights, often being rude to guest respects, partying all night/day long with no intervention by staff or security! We went to the gym a few times, old but had the machines expected for a resort, towels were available with cleaning staff solely for the Gym, opens at 6AM, we playeds Tennis a couple of times as well, staff on site at 8am for rackets and balls. Over all, we weren't 100% happy but this was to be expected as a first time guest at this resort, we would go back again, but issues by Mgmt have to be addressed..
