    Great Vacation in spite of COVID

    After the best vacation ever last summer, we planned a repeat for this summer with friends to share our amazing experience at Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta. We planned, in December of 2019, for August of 2020 but COVID had other ideas about that. We had to change our travel dates 2 times before we were able to get everyone set for the last two weeks in October 2020. The resort was very helpful, and we had no problems with the rescheduling. We really didn't know what to expect as far as COVID precautions went, but we were happily surprised by the well thought out plan and how it was seamlessly implemented. We never felt uncomfortable or inconvenienced by the safety measures they used. The resort was immaculately clean, masks were required in all public areas by everyone, social distancing was observed in lobbies and restaurants, and hand sanitizer was readily available, and everyone was required to use it. As far as service, it was superior, as usual. No pool bar was allowed, but waiters at the pool kept us all refilled. Especially good at this job was Luis. He would appear out of nowhere with another round of drinks and pep in his step. Our favorite attendant at the beach was Edu. All the restaurants were open on a rotating basis and reservations were necessary. The food was amazingly delicious, and I would be hard pressed to choose a favorite. Outstanding though, was Zen, with manager Juan, who remembered us from last year and made sure we always had extra special service. He assisted one of our travel friends along with another special manager, Abigail Gomez, to throw a surprise belated birthday party for my wife. Her big ‘70’ birthday was in July amid our lockdown and had kept us from celebrating. Cutberto, The Zen head chef provided a special menu for our party and the wait staff Oscar, Orlando and Jasmine all joined in the celebration singing a Spanish Happy Birthday. Abigail Gomez is an absolute treasure. She hosts a tequila tasting at Zen on Friday nights (we have gone 4 times). Her knowledge is comprehensive, and the food pairings are assisted by the Sushi Chef Luis Gonzalez, who creates magic. My wife has seafood allergies, but he always has something special that she can enjoy. Abigail also manages Ciao, the Italian restaurant. Not only did they have the usual great Italian cuisine for dinner, but they use the restaurant in the morning for creative breakfast dining as buffets are not COVID safe. They provided extensive choices, personalized, made to order, served individually, outside. Of course, masks must be worn when up from your table. The other two restaurants, Frieda, Mexican food and Ipanema, the steakhouse, are now sharing the same indoor space on a rotating basis. Victor, a waiter at Frieda also remembered us from last summer. And just like last year, made sure we had a special dessert on our last night. Our other waiters Angel and Rubi were great, and we saw them on multiple visits. They always had great suggestions on what was the best to order. The Ipanema and Frieda manager Rosie always came to our table to see us every time we were there and made sure our dining experience was perfect. We were at the resort for the Day of the Dead celebration and we're so impressed by the decorations and altars the staff of these two restaurants set up. All were made with organic, edible materials. They were beautiful. As well as the restaurants and their staff being superior, we also had great service from Ramon, our vacation planner and Lukaz, our Legendary concierge. They both went out of their way to make sure that we had all the reservations and activities set up and ready. Giselle at the front desk was always able to answer any of our questions, with a smile under her mask. We also enjoyed the entertainment staff at the pool. Alberto, Fefe, Aladair, Many, Carlos, Canelo, Karla, Lizz, Ulises and Yukiko we're full of energy and talent always planning fun for all ages. I am writing this review on Thanksgiving Day and want to express how grateful and thankful we are to the entire resort staff at Hard Rock Vallarta. We are especially grateful to Legendary for providing us with a safe and relaxing vacation during the uncertainty that COVID has presented to our world. We had a great time and look forward to next summer back at Hard Rock Vallarta!

    If I could give the Hard Rock Vallarta a 100 point rating I would. So this 5 is well deserved. Cabana wait staff, including Gerry, Edi, and Cerezo were so much fun and attentive during our 4 out of 7 days in a cabana. Ramon set us up for two days in the spa for couples massages and two tours with Vallarta Adventures. Our masuses were Alma and Veronica and were excelent.

    We love the Hard Rock Resort and the entertainment crew. They are awesome! Charly and Yukiko and Aldair are our favorites ? They make everything so fun other resort! We will definitely come back again!!

    Had a blast! The best customer services I’ve had. Edgar was very attentive and Yukiko was great! All of the Animation team was amazing! The food and drinks were great and food was subpar! The beaches were very clean.

    Very nice stay but had a few issues.

    We stayed from November 15, 2020 until November 20, 2020. This is not our first Hard Rock Hotel stay so we know what to expect, we've stayed a four different resorts and this was our second visit at this one. Our stay this time included concierge services, upon arrival we were meet by Memo. He advised us he would be checking us in today but was not our concierge for the week. We were check in very quick and our room was ready for us. He also asked where we wanted to eat dinner for the night and made our reservation for us which was great. He took our cell number and said that our concierge would be contacting us later that day. We never heard from anyone that day at all so the next morning we stopped by the concierge desk on the way to breakfast and gave our number again to the person there and was told someone would get in touch with us very soon. Again the whole day went by without anyone touching base with us. The next day I went to the front desk and explained our issue and was told they would have someone get in touch with us, later that night we were at dinner and Memo saw us again and asked how everything was, we told him that no one had made any contact with us yet. He apologized and said he would take care of this issue personally. He introduced us to Uri and between both of them they made the rest of our trip great. Uri planned a dinner for us at Ipanema that was one of the best meals we have had at a Hard Rock. We chose to sit at the beach everyday and our server Diane was fantastic, by the second day she knew what we liked and remembered our drinks all day long. We ate at all the restaurants and I believe Ciao and Ipanema twice. All of our meals were really good but our favorite was Ipanema , Rosy ran that place top notch and she was so attentive to anything you needed, I even joked with her and said she had radar. It seemed like when you needed something she was right there for you. All of the staff went out of the way to make your stay very nice, things are different with Covid but I think the staff make up for things with all of their help. We did most of our breakfast at Ipanema , usually for lunch we ate at Frida or had home made pizza from the pool area. We didn't go off the resort this time but had plenty to do at the resort. The beach was fantastic a was the ocean, it was turtle hatching time so it was nice to see them swimming out to sea. We did go to a few shows and thought they were really good. The maids don't clean the rooms everyday now because of Covid but we had no issues. Anytime we wanted clean towels they were there promptly and we scheduled when we wanted the room cleaned and it was done early for us. So over all we had a small issue but I truly feel the staff made our trip a very good one. Special thanks to MEMO and URI they realized there was a problem and made it right and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. Also Rosy at Ipanema , I hope the hotel knows how hard you work to make your restaurant one of the best and to Diane on the beach area thank you for taking such good care of us everyday.
