We loved this little resort. Very quiet. Beach was beautiful and not busy. Buffet food was alright. Snack bar was a nice touch when you didn't want to get cleaned up and go to the buffet. Suggestion: Book the A La Carte restaurants right away as the fill up fast. Zumba classes were fun. Loved Sara, Mime and all the other instructors energy when teaching. There is a different themed show every night. We just wished that the start time was sooner than 9 or sometimes 9 30. Covid testing was a breeze and no problems. Drinks were plentiful. All in all-great resort.

The worst hotel ever stayed in Mexico

We decided to book two days in this resort to check it and prolong our stay for one more week in case if it meets our expectations. Our hopes for prolongation got ruined right upon check in: the front desk manager was so hostile as if we were enemies and not guests. One can’t make the first impression twice and our arrival was spoilt. The food was so horrible so that all our stay we were eating outside the resort: the food looked like it was cooked for pigs and not for people: oily, over fried, not tasty at all. There were little fruits at the breakfast. We bought ones in the supermarket. Cocktails were all chemical with cheap components. We tried Mohito and Pina Colada - can’t imagine how one can drink it. We tried to book a la carte restaurant in the resort but were literally told that we do not deserve it since our stay is only two days. Everything was booked and the hotel didn’t offer any options to us though they could accommodate us late in the evening or the next day, but they decided that offering nothing should be better. The room looked like a dormitory - awful beds, cheap bed linen, not comfortable pillows. There was no hot water in the room and in the evening when we arrived there was a pool of water all over the room pouring from ventilation system so that the hotel reallocated us to the new one. Overall we were truly disappointed that such a reputable hotel chain treats its guests this way. It was a real shock. After Nice impression about Mexican people in other hotels always trying their best to help and do their best for us.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for four nights in February. Upon check-in, the room we received had no Wi-Fi signal which I needed to work. I went back to the front desk and was told by a man that all rooms have the same Wi-Fi signal. I used to work in the hotel industry and know this is not true. When I persisted, he said to come back the next day and speak to his manager about getting a different room. I went back the next day and spoke to Liliana who was very nice and accommodating and put us in a better room with good Wi-Fi signal. The same male employee who was working the evening of February 11 lost my tourist visa form that they give you in the airplane and you need to retain the bottom portion of it for when you leave Mexico. This ended up costing me $30 to get a new one when I left Mexico. It was with my passport, which I gave to him at check in. He returned my passport to me without the form. PROS: activities, pool, gym, entertainment, smoothies, trapeze, archery, ability to refill your water bottles at many locations in the hallways.. Almost all of the employees are very nice and friendly. CONS: The free bikes you can use are all in terrible shape, the desserts at the buffet and restaurants are poor quality, there is no ice cream, loud music is played in the pool area until 1030 at night, there are no do not disturb signs that I could find in a room.

We traveled to Mexico Feb 19 - 23 and stayed at the Viva Wyndham Maya. I did read all the reviews prior to traveling and was a little concerned, however we were pleasantly surprised on how much we enjoyed this resort. We have stayed in the gated community of Playacar numerous times in the past, and very much love the location. Our check in went very smooth even though there are numerous new precautions due to COVID 19. Our room was clean, and comfortable. We had no problem with the pillows or mattresses. The food was fine, we could always find something to eat at the buffet. The a la carte restaurants were very nice and we all enjoyed our meals. What I liked most about the Viva Wyndham Maya, was the size. It was small enough to get around with ease. Lobby to the beach was a 3-4 minute walk. The staff was also amazing. We required a negative COVID 19 test to re-enter the US, which we had done at the hotel by the onsite physician. This cost us approximately $35 and was done quickly and results were sent to our phones within an hour. In the past we have stayed at the RIU resorts, and the Iberostar in Playacar, all very nice resorts. This was a budget trip, and we were ot disappointed for the value we received. I would stay here again.

We stayed in Viva Maya 2 weeks with Xmas eve included. First of all our appreciation to Montserrat, supervisor from reception. So nice and thoughtful. She made our stay helping us with comfy accommodation. Cleaning service of our room was good. Animation team was amazing, thanks, guys, so much for involving us to different activities. Meal in buffet and a-la cart restaurants was delicious especially in Xmas eve. The guys from beach and lobby bars were making tasty coffee and cocktails with smile. We would come again.
