Destination Basics

Climate

Located in the Coast Mountain Range, Whistler’s temperatures are moderate, with an average daily alpine temperature of -5°C (22°F) during the winter months (December-February). You can expect heavy perspiration in the winter, with warm, drier days during the summer months. Average daily highs can reach 27°C during July and August.

Getting around

On foot:

Once you’ve arrived in the village, Whistler is easy to navigate without a vehicle, year-round. With the pedestrian-only Village Stroll, you can walk between shops, restaurants, ski lifts and hotels.

By bike:

Biking throughout the village is a great option in the summer, with the Valley Trail connecting you to all of Whistler’s neighbourhoods. While the trail is open year-round, heavy snowfall and icy conditions can be expected during the winter months.

By transit:

BC Transit services Whistler Village and surrounding neighbourhoods. Visit Whistler Transit System website for schedules. Plus, take advantage of the free seasonal shuttle service offered around the village.

By taxi:

You can find two taxi services operating in Whistler: Whistler Resort Cabs and Whistler Taxi. Taxis can be booked to and from Vancouver International Airport.
