I liked staying at the resort very much. In particular, I liked the food, and the high-end restaurant quality unlimited dishes we had a chance to eat every day, thanks! I highly recommend this resort to everyone

This is our third time visiting Catalonia Playa Maroma and we will be returning, as well as recommending the resort again.
We were supposed to stay at another resort (do NOT stay at Sandos Eco Resort, save your $$ and just book at Catalonia Playa Maroma) and had to switch last minute to Catalonia Playa Maroma. Upon arrival, the check in process was smooth, the resort has been recently updated (pool, restaurants, buffet- now all have air conditioner). From the moment we arrived, the staff was friendly and wonderful. The food was amazing, the rooms were clean, I love that they now have a towel card for the guests and the beach is clean (I know and understand that the resort, nor the people working there are responsible for the climate change and the amount of seaweed in the water).
I would like to take the time to point out a few employees that made our time there much more enjoyable, these employees went above and beyond service, they took the time to talk to our family, get to know us and remembered us, throughout our trip:
- Felix (Creperie)
- Juan (El Pajarito Buffet)
- Giovanny and Alexis (Adelita/Snack Bar)
- Fernando (Grill and Ayami Restaurant)
and of course, the animation team, who not only work there 6 days a week, almost 12hrs a day, but do it with a smile and made sure everyone was having a great time. We especially got to know Juan, who had started just within the last week of our arrival and was SO friendly, helpful and a pleasant person to talk to.
Every night there was entertainment, we went to the lobby and danced. The grounds are impeccable and the atmosphere is wonderful.
Checkout was very easy, no lines.
I'm so glad we had to come back to Catalonia Playa Maroma, even though it was by accident and that this was our third time here!

We had a wonderful vacation at the Catalonia Playa Maroma.
Our room was spacious and clean, the Mini Bar was filled every day and the whole property is very nice and well kept.
The animation team did a fantastic job. They motivated the guests without overdoing it, you could have a nice talk with them and they were absolutely wonderful with our 2 year old daughter. A big thank you to the whole team!!
The food was also very good and the staff in all Restaurants extremely friendly and helpful.
We often ate at the Pajarito Restaurant which had a nice variety of all kind of national and international food. A big thank you also to the super sweet and on point staff, especially Daylin, Mareni, Alex and Fatima.
The speciality restaurants also offered a nice setting and we really enjoyed our meals there. If you come early there is also no problem in getting a table.
Last but not least, Moses and Giovanni at the bars at the pool were the best ????

We had a wonderful vacation and felt completely Covid-safe. Everything was clean and luxurious and beautiful! The food was fairly average, but otherwise, we would have gladly stayed forever! Definitely go for the "Privileged" status for oceanfront views!

Just returned from a week long vacation at the Catalonia Playa Maroma resort. I travelled with 2 friends and we all absolutely loved everything about this resort.
Let’s start with proximity to the airport, it was less than 25 minutes from the airport to the lobby. Check in was a breeze, a couple of people in front of us but there are ample seating areas which are directly across from the front desk with numerous ceiling fans to cool off even the sweatiest of travellers while waiting your turn.
Our rooms weren’t quite ready but we expected this as check in is 3pm. We had a perfect frozen margarita served to us in the lobby while we relaxed waiting for our rooms to be ready.
The rooms were clean and spacious with a good selection of beverages in your mini fridge. The staff who helped with our luggage were polite and really can’t do enough to ensure that you are happy with your accommodations.
The restaurants and bar staff are some of the best people you will ever meet.
They are beyond accommodating to everyone and even those that were RUDE and DEMANDING without even tipping them. I saw only two maybe three other parties of people that even bothered to tip for exceptional service you receive.
I will never understand how people decide that they can afford a great all inclusive vacation YET don’t set aside an extra $100 for tipping exceptional customer service staff.
Just because it’s an all inclusive doesn’t mean that the wait staff are paid exceptional wages. Actually it’s quite the opposite as most of the staff spend a week or more at a time away from their families and they rent a one bedroom apartment that they share with numerous other wait staff in an effort to save their money to bring home to their families.
To those people who don’t normally tip in their country of residence because it’s included in your bill this is NOT THE CASE AT ALL INCLUSIVE RESORTS IN MEXICO or any Caribbean resort that I’ve stayed at.
Please show some respect and give a $1 tip for a drink that is served to you on the beach or around the pools! Especially when you consider that they are working their butts off in 37c weather while wearing masks to protect you and themselves from Covid.
The grounds were beautiful and teaming with wildlife which is respected and protected by the staff. If you DONT want to see coatis roaming freely in their own habitat then don’t bother going if you are just going to complain about them being everywhere. One of the most charming qualities of this resort is that they respect nature and it’s natural inhabitants.
I will definitely be back again! Kudos to all!
