An old favourite made better by the renovations

professorpj (Toronto, Canada) on Nov 23, 2021

We have stayed at this hotel dozens of times when visiting family and friends in Nova Scotia. This time around, we did enjoy our stay and the renovations. We have been staying at your hotel for many years - probably twenty - and were delighted to see that renovation had been done. However, we do have a few observations.  First, the bathrooms now have no place to hang anything. There is no towel rack (the bar under the sink counts only for a hand towel); many travellers use hanging cosmetic cases and these new bathrooms have nowhere to hang them at all. In addition, when we return to normal post-COVID, no one will have a place to hang towels should they decide to partake of your environment program of not laundering towels every day.  Also, the bathrooms have no hook on which to hang a bathrobe. How could this have been overlooked? It's puzzling. The bathrooms also lack wall-mounted magnifying mirrors which seem to now be de rigeur at hotels of this stature when renovations are done.  All of these are things that could be easily rectified.  The new corridor design is appealing and the lighting improved. The restaurant is well-staffed with efficient and personable staff, especially the new server, Steven. He should be going places in this organization. As always, we enjoyed our stay visiting family and friends and will return. If they can fix these things, we won't have to stay at their new property, The Muir, next time!

Many service related issues

CanadaWorldTour (Toronto) on Nov 14, 2021

Many service related issues throughout our stay which were not acceptable. 1) Shower curtain was very dirty with what appeared to be blood stains. On the first day we checked in we complained but were told it was to late and someone would follow up - no one did 2) In room dining was impossible to reach and when they did take an order it took a min of 1hr to get delivery every time 3) At checkout we called down to request someone to bring us a luggage cart and were rudely told due to covid the hotel is not offering bell services - yet all we wanted was someone to bring us the cart so we didn't have to go down again we were told no one could help when we went down to get it ourselves three employees were chatting away at the front desk - disappointing service overall. Notified the hotel of the above concerns and received a generic "thank you for your feedback" email, not up to Marriott standards at all.

Convenient to all of the attractions

ndser (Vancouver, B.C.) on Oct 20, 2021

We stayed in a 4th floor king harbour-view room at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel for 2-nights in late-Oct ($220). The hotel has a great location, on the harbour at the upper end of the tourist strip and an easy walk to all of the attractions, some of the best restaurants in town, and almost beside the Dartmouth ferry. Our room was very large, furnished with a cabinet with a large mini-fridge & drawers, a desk and chair with another couple of drawers, a fainting couch that we turned around to face the window, and a full walk-in closet. The bathroom was also large, with a large vanity, a huge amount of space on a shelf behind, and a very large walk-in shower with both hand wand and a rainfall shower head. We had heard that the hotel was showing its age, but that was not evident in what we saw. Amenities included a pool and jacuzzi, both of which we used, and a restaurant and active lounge. Overall, a good base in Halifax.

Extremely happy with our room! We had a spectacular view of the harbour . Restaurants are all in walking distance of hotel. Happy hour in the lounge ordering locally made gin with tonic is a must . Front desk very helpful and friendly . Rent a car conveniently located attached to hotel. I give a five out of five rating .

Superior Customer Service

AlbertaBeachbum (Edmonton, Canada) on Oct 17, 2021

We spent a total of 7 days here on our recent first trip to Nova Scotia. We actually switched things when we got there so we could spend more days at this hotel. The location can’t be beat. We loved sitting in the chairs out front, enjoying harbour views with our morning coffee. The hotel is within walking distance to all the major attractions in Halifax. The rooms are clean and modern, with comfortable beds and great showers. What really made our stay here was the exceptional customer service. We arrived at the hotel at 7am after our red eye flight just to drop off our luggage. To our surprise, they actually gave us our room!!! It was great to go nap for a couple hours before exploring Halifax! They were always so helpful with recommendations and directions. We actually decided to add on a night to our 3 night stay later on in our stay in Nova Scotia and they made the extra effort so that we could stay in the same room. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to everyone! Kuddos especially to Jeff and Amin(?), not sure if I got that second name right.
