Despite not good reviews, we enjoyed our stay at the Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach

MJMHB (Valley Stream) on Sep 20, 2021

Beautiful room, comfortable and clean. Bathroom is a bit small but nothing wrong with that. You are in Honolulu to be outdoors!! Large balcony. All staff is friendly and helpful. Check in took a little longer than I would have like to, but once checked in - we received exceptional customer service. The front desk stays in touch with you by text. That was the fastest way. Great location and easy to walk to restaurants and stores. Live music / DJ by the pool was a bit loud and the pool and pool area is crowded over the weekend. We were not sure if these are locals or coming over from other hotels. At the Longboard you can enjoy the breakfast buffet (delicious acai bowls) and afternoon drinks/ cheese / wine. The Longboard staff is very helpful and friendly and do not chase you away. less

Not impressed

buzzbieBrown (Atlanta, Georgia) on Sep 20, 2021

I usually stay in hotel brands I’m familiar with but this place came highly recommended. 1st let me say the pool area and lobby are beautiful which is also misleading. The restaurants are limited and we had to walk to other hotels and the shopping areas a mile down the road for food each day. This place is NOT a resort. The corridors leading to the rooms are not pleasing to the eyes. The carpet is filthy. Once inside our initial room there was a strong food smell which we found was from the Japanese restaurant connected to the hotel. The smell doesn’t go away. The drapes had brown/red/yellow stains on the them and we couldn’t tell if it was food, blood or feces. The chair in the room was covered with old gum. I couldn’t believe the chair was left in the room. The front desk agent said someone could come replace the chair and drapes or we could upgrade our room for another 150.00 a night but she would discount that to 80.00 a night plus taxes. I hate to say… I actually paid for the upgrade. It was our first time in Hawaii and we’d just gotten off a 9 hour and 30 minute flight. I had no energy to debate this. They were at fault but I paid for it. Get to the upgraded room which they advertised as an ocean view (1st room was semi ocean view) but in reality the view is of the street, homeless tent city and then the beach. All night long we had to listen to ppl screaming me sirens. I will never stay here again nor will I recommend the place. The Bellman staff especially Mike and pool bar staff Chasen were super cool which is why I even gave three stars.
