Beautiful, but...

svendI1921ZH on Oct 26, 2021

Gorgeous hotel close to Balboa Island. Great staff, well maintained grounds. However, the entire hotel has popcorn ceilings, in the hallways, in the rooms. This could be a major health hazard to customers as any breaks/damage could result in asbestos being released into the air. Needs a major update to fix or cover the asbestos.

Should not be a Hyatt

tnapawan on Oct 25, 2021

As a Hyatt Globalist, I stayed at this property 3 different times (2x for work, once for pleasure, and this is it). First, the structure of this property is super old and flimsy. The walls between rooms and hallway are paper-thin while the floor is not sound and solid. You must have a room on the top floor but still will be able to hear everything from next doors and hallway. If you are a light sleeper, trust me on this...stay somewhere else. Second, activities including golf courses were closed due to the recent Jazz festival, which already ended by the time we were there. We wish we were proactively informed about this. Everyone in our family was let down. If I have to be in the area for business or pleasure again, I would consider staying somewhere else even at a non-Hyatt hotel. Coming out from a Hyatt loyalist like me, this says a lot regarding how bad this hotel is.
